The whole weekend passed when it was Monday again.
That can mean 3 things:
1. Another boring day of school.
2. There's a possible chance the teacher will scold him for the homework he didn't do.
George slowly walked through the hallway, feeling anxious as he neared their classroom door.
The moment he entered, Karl and Sapnap were the first ones to notice his presence.
When he faced Dream, he was looking down on his desk, doing nothing in particular.
George slowly sat next to Dream, and that's when he acknowledged him, "Hey, George,"
"Hi, Dream," George smiled at him, placing his backpack down.
He just stayed there to see Dream with no expression at all.
Huh, he doesn't get it. Dream looked sad or bored or confused or the mix of all 3? Did something happen... or was it about the confession.
This got him a bit worried, but right now was not the time to ask him, since class is about to start.
During English class, he decided to make some kind of conversation with him.
"Hey, Dream? Is it okay if you explain to me the 3 rules of interpretation?" he asked, pointing to the board.
"Uh, sure," Dream then faced him, but not directly at him, with his notebook right next to him, "So, we have the Literal, Mischief, and Golden Rule," he explained.
"For Literal, you're just grammatically giving the words their ordinary and natural meaning. This is also known as the 'plain meaning' rule. For Mischief, you're applying the principle to try and find out the real intention behind the enactment. Then, for the Golden, it's used to solve conflicts within the existing laws. Meaning, when the language used in a statute is unclear, the court must interpret the words of the law so as to avoid a result that is absurd. Did you get that?" Dream looked back at the board.
George doesn't get any of that at all.
Hey, at least Dream was ready to offer him help anytime, "A bit, but thanks,"
The bell rang and it was now time for recess.
George found it weird how all 4 of them just spoke a while ago and even talked about random school stuff, but when they all sat down together at the same table in the canteen, Dream was significantly taking a bit longer to return from buying food than usual.
"Gogs, what happened? Did you and Dream had a fight or something?" Sapnap asked, somehow reading his mind.
"No, Sap. We never fought," George answered, taking a bite of his pizza.
"Then what happened? Did he reject you?" Karl asked, catching Sapnap's attention as they both faced George.
George was quiet for a bit, before he spoke, "No, he actually felt the same,"
Karl beamed up, but Sapnap still wasn't celebrating, "Then why is he like that?"
"I don't know," George replied, a bit frustrated, "I tried to make a conversation with him earlier, and he was kind of avoiding eye contact with me and- I just don't know, okay? Here,"
George hesitantly opened Dream's contact, he then pushed his phone towards the table for them to see.
Karl was the one slowly scrolled back to their messages, while Sapnap read it with him.
"He's probably just trying to process it all, give him time, George," Karl told him with a comforting smile.
George could only nod back at him, "Okay,"
Dream came back a few minutes before the bell rang again.
He only flashed a half-smile at him, before they walked back to their classroom together.

George was busy solving his algebra homework.
They basically had free time since they have one of those chill teachers who lets them do whatever they want as long as she knows they understood the lesson well after teaching.
While everyone was either chatting, using their phone or taking a nap, George was struggling over how to solve the equations on his paper.
Dream can help him.
"Hey, Dream?" George tapped him on the shoulder, who was on his phone listening to music earphones on.
"Can you help me with this, please?" George added, desperate enough to just get this done.
"Sure, give me a moment," Dream took of one of his earphones so he can hear George and he took out his math notebook and a pen.
Honestly, with Dream being like this, he could be his tutor, or even be top 1 of their class.
"-Okay, so now you repeat this process until the degree of the remainder is less than the degree of the divisor," Dream used his pen to point out where George needs to solve.
He felt relieved that that was the last item, just in time for their teacher to exit the room and for them to wait their math teacher "Thanks, Dream,"
"No, problem," Dream didn't return his notebook in his bag, since he knew they would need it for the next subject.
George then thought about asking him about the confession.
"Uh, Dream? Can I ask you about something?" George looked at him with an uneasy look.
"What is it?"
He took a deep breath, "About the confession, what do you feel about it?"
Dream really wanted for George not to ask that first.
George watched how Dream quickly broke eye contact with him and started fidgeting with his own fingers, doing it as some distraction.
"Can we please talk about this later?" Dream whispered, loud enough for George to hear.
"Okay..." George spoke back, not wanting to make Dream uncomfortable any further.

Dismissal had begun and all the students started packing their things with them.
George had planned to approach Dream again to ask him the same question from earlier, but when he saw George, he basically bolted out the door.
This got Karl and Sapnap confused as fuck, but George explained that he will talk to him.
George tried to chase after Dream, though he was already gone when he got outside the campus.
He's having doubts on this. Maybe he's weirded out by him, but he doesn't want to tell him, thinking he might hurt his feelings?
George felt bad and decided to walk back home and message Dream.
He's now home, yet for some reason he couldn't send a text.
Should he just follow Karl's advice and give him more space?
Does he wait for Dream to say something or what?
No, this is stupid. He's fine, he really is, but why the fuck is he starting to cry over some dumb crush?
George could only turn his phone off, and let his head fall onto his pillows, tiredly.

He hadn't realized he had fallen asleep. It was now 6:30pm.
Checking his phone for any messages felt useless at that moment, but he decided to do it anyway.
Dream had actually texted him hours ago.
*Chat (Phone)*
Dream: Hi, George. I'm really sorry for leaving you without an answer like that earlier.
Dream: Trust me, I do like you, it's just that when you asked me that question, it was so sudden I wasn't able to answer you right away.
Dream: The thing is, I'm not even sure if my feelings for you are genuine or significant, and I was kind of hesitant.
Dream: At first, I thought it was fine and I was actually excited, but then I also started having doubts on this.
Dream: It's like I deeply admire and respect you so much that I feel inadequate or not worthy enough to speak to you.
Dream: But then I also remind myself that I don't have to worry much about it and to just talk to you.
Dream: I hope you can forgive me.
George rubbed his eyes and chose to message him back.
George: It's okay, I forgive you, and I'm also sorry as well for making you uncomfortable.
Dream: Huh?
Dream: You haven't done anything to make me feel that way.
George: Oh, okay.
George: So, what does this make us?
Dream: I'm not sure yet, but for now we have this kind of thing for each other I guess.
George: Okay.
Dream: Do you still want to talk about each other?
George: Sure :)
Dream: Okay :)
The next thing George knew, he was stuck on messaging Dream for hours, talking back and forth about their interests, and other things related.
Dream had even sent him pictures of his cat just in case George misses her.
George: Can I see her again sometime? :)
Dream: Are you really just gonna come by my house just to see Patches?
Dream: What about me, Georgie :(
George: Very funny, Dream.
Dream: But I don't mind, though :D
George: I also wanted to see you anyway, idiot :)
George simply wanted to send the first thing that came to his mind, okay?
As if Dream hadn't already made him all flustered with the nickname.
Dream: It's getting a bit late, go to sleep now, George. Good night :)
George: You, too, Dream :)
God, he's in love.
