INT. REBECCAS APARTMENT- REBECCAS ROOM DAY

Rebecca turns over in bed to Ryan who's sitting on the bed reading a book.

REBECCA- this face isn't too bad to look up to.

Ryan smiles.

RYAN- I told you, but I think my view is better.

Rebecca blushes but then she raises her eye brow.

REBECCA- What are you reading?

RYAN- a baby book.

Rebecca has a half smile.

REBECCA- this early?

RYAN- I mean I couldn't really sleep with all the snoring you had going on.

Rebecca pushes his shoulder.

REBECCA- shut up I do not snore.

Ryan laughs.

RYAN- Okay Okay....but I'm happy you finally accepted the Ryan effect.

Rebecca laughs.

REBECCA- Shut up don't call it that...I just maybe had a tiny bit of a weak hormonal moment.

INT. RYAN AND STERLING APARTMENT- DAY

Playing on a vinyl is by The Oasis is "Come on Home"

Sterling is in the middle of carving a wooden chair. He blows off the dust and squats down to check the level of the arm rest.

He goes back to carving the chair. There's a knock at the door.

He walks over to the door.

CHRISTINE- (smiling) Happy Valentine's Day!

STERLING- Hey Mama what are you doing here?

Christine hugs him.

CHRISTINE- I wanted to see my favorite valentine.

Christine walks in.

CHRISTINE- Why is it so dark in here?

Christine walks over to the curtains and pulls them back.

STERLING- Yeah I like it that way.

CHRISTINE- So what are your valentine day plans?

Sterling points to the chair his crafting.

STERLING- That right there.

Christine looks at the chair and then back at Sterling.

CHRISTINE- Oh son.

STERLING- What? It's actually therapeutic.

STERLING-(confused) I'm good....Jalen called you didn't he?

Christine stands caught.

CHRISTINE- He might've called and he might've said something happened between you and MJ and that you were in denial.

Sterling rolls his eyes.

STERLING- he's exaggerating I'm fine.

CHRISTINE- You're spending Valentine's Day with a chair son.

STERLING- And that's great for me my therapist says I need to try new things and keep an open mind.

CHRISTINE- therapist? Why do you need a therapist?

Sterling sighs.

STERLING- Since I found out I was incapable of love.

Sterling gets a half smile

STERLING- Yeah to my mother of course and to like Ryan.

CHRISTINE- and Jalen?

Christine laughs. Sterling smiles.

Christine hugs him.

CHRISTINE- I liked MJ for you. She knows what she wants and she always put the biggest smile on your face.

Sterling gets a half smile thinking about it.

STERLING- Maya is amazing she's funny and she's passionate and she drives me crazy but in a good way. I don't know what it is about her...I haven't been able to get her out of my head since the day we met it's like magic or something.

Christine laughs.

CHRISTINE- or love.

Sterling sighs.

STERLING- but I messed it up bad....really bad.

INT. FITNESS CLASS - DAY

Hazel and Maya are in the middle of exercising on mats in a packed class.

HAZEL- it should be illegal to invite someone to fitness class. I mean, what kind of sicko wants to pay to watch me sweat grunt and fart?

HAZEL- Girl no I'm just saying.

They both burst into laughter.

HAZEL- I'm surprised you wanted to come this morning.

HAZEL- because it's Valentine's Day.

HAZEL- I know how you feel about Valentine's Day.

MAYA- that was young immature Maya this Maya doesn't care much about this day. It's just another Saturday.

Hazel shoots her a look.

MAYA-(V.O) okay I was lying my ass off...truth is I love Valentine's Day I mean look at it everything is all pink and red and hearts and love. If I was a holiday I would be Valentine's Day but I don't have a valentine so I'm not excited as I usually would be. Steven is alot of things but he set the bar high for Valentine's Day.

INT. MAYAS COLLEGE DORM - FLASH BACK

Maya sits at her desk doing homework. There's a knock at her door she gets up to answer it.

MAYA-(V.O) our very first Valentine's Day I wasn't expecting much because he worked all these crazy hours at his job to pay for school and we had just started dating so I don't know I wasn't sure if he was crazy about me.

Maya answers the door. Steven stands holding a HUGE teddy bear and box of candy and a huge card.

Maya smiles in shock.

Steven kisses her.

MAYA- I thought you had to work?

STEVEN- I do technically I'm showing a customer where our bikes are.

Maya laughs.

Steven stands behind Maya his hands around her hips as they sing along.

MAYA-(V.O) third Valentine's Day. Surprised me with concert tickets. We sang to each other all night it didn't even feel like a concert. It felt like it was just us two.

INT. STEVEN AND MAYAS APARTMENT - FLASHBACK THREE

MAYA-(V.O) but that fifth Valentine's Day....

Maya sits on the couch. Steven walks in.

MAYA- Where have you been? The movie starts in like thirty minutes?

STEVEN- I just got off I'm tired ...do we really have to go?

MAYA- it's the one thing I've been looking forward to we haven't had a date night in months.

STEVEN- because we're adults now MJ we this isn't college anymore we can't just sit around in love all day.

INT. REBECCAS APARTMENT- DAY

Rebecca sits on the sofa and Ryan walks out of the kitchen carrying a food tray.

Rebecca smiles.

REBECCA- and what is this?

Ryan places the tray in front of her showing her two heart shaped pancakes.

RYAN- pancakes my specialty.

REBECCA- This is so sweet.

She begins to cut a piece and eat it.

REBECCA- and so good oh my God.

Ryan smiles.

RYAN- Yeah aren't they?

REBECCA- could your head get any bigger!

Ryan laughs and then looks at her, thanking

RYAN- Rebecca would you like to be my valentine?

REBECCA-(confused) What?

RYAN- I mean come on why not? Just because we're not together doesn't mean you shouldn't be showered with love today.

Rebecca looks at him.

REBECCA- I just don't want this to change anything with us I mean we're doing great with the co parenting thing.

Sterling and Christine sit across from each other in the middle of placing an order with a waitress.

The waitress smiles at him.

WAITRESS- I'll be right back with your drinks,

She walks away,

Sterling laughs.

Sterling looks at Christine confused. The waitress comes back carrying their drinks. She places them on the table.

Christine reads her name tag and it stats MELANIE.

EXT. FRONT OF APARTMENT COMPLEX - DAYZ

Hazel walks outside and stands is surprised by her date LUNA late 20s.

LUNA- Hazel? Hey.

HAZEL- Luna? I was hoping to see you before you see me.

Luna laughs.

LUNA- I was trying to do the exact same thing.

They both laugh at themselves.

LUNA- Well you look beautiful.

Maya enters and there's rose pedals on the bed in the shape of a heart.

She puts her bags down and messes up the heart.
