His reflection didn't show what it did back then. His eyes looked dull, the bags underneath, deep and dark. He stared himself in the eyes, leaning on the sink for support as his mind drifted off into the past.
There were two knocks that got him to come back to reality. His gaze slid to the door which was slowly opening, until there stood a black haired boy in the doorway, eyes, sharply meeting the ones of the other.
,,Jake"
And the boy was gone again.
Jake nodded before turning on the water on the sink and slapping his face with the cold water that was flowing from it, to get rid of that tired feeling.
He sighed before drying his hands with a white towel, then stepping outside of the bathroom.
He was met with the backs of the other boys, who were making their way downstairs. The hallway felt a lot longer and narrower on Thursdays. The walls were brown, some areas where the paint has faded. Without talking, the boys were quietly making their way into the open room next to the cafeteria.
One after one they were sitting down, relaxing a moment before the test. Jake was looking up after a while to see the other boys faces, most of them not showing any expression while some had slight troubles hiding their nervousness.
After a while the door opened and two nurses walked into the big, white room, wearing long white coats and each carrying a supply bag. They didn't look at and only walked pass them, towards the metal table on which they sat their bags. They took out their papers and moved to stand in front of the table, facing the boys.
Naturally, they lined up to get tested.
,,Yang Jungwon"
The woman reading out his name pulled her red matte lipstick glazed lips into a rather unnatural and forced smile while staring into the distance, not really looking at the boys.
And so the boy who was standing rather in the middle of the line, moved forwards, expression showing that he was slightly bothered.
They held a flashlight directly to his mouth and inspected it. The nurse nodded as the other was writing down stuff on the papers, all while holding their smiles in a professional matter. Jake tried to eye what was written there but he stood too far. She then took out a device that the boys had always assumed to be a Thermometer and held it to his ear.
Once he was done with more tests, the next in line stepped forward. ,,lee heeseung"
His face looked very troubled once he stood in front of the nurse, swallowing the urge to say something.
She continued to do the Tests and on the last one she seemed to frown. She handed him a pack of pills and held up three fingers, to which he nodded while sighing and walking back, to stand in line with the other boys.
And so all the boys of the house were tested one after the other. Only heeseung having gotten any extra medicine. Once everyone was seated on the bench again, the nurses bowed and left through the front door, the clicking of the door being locked was the last thing they heard before it went back to quiet.
Heeseung let out a loud sigh.
,,these suck"
Riki shamefully laughed at the older boy, followed by a light smack on the head.
,,it's not funny, they taste really bad"
Heeseung laughed monotonously and then looked into his hand, where the pack lied. He frowned before putting it into his pocket and looking away.
,,what if you just don't take them" jay remarked while grinning to which the older only stuck out his tongue. ,,whatever, it's doable" he sighed and leaned back, staring off into space.
His eyes slowly closed to the sound of the younger boys talking and messing with each other until it went completely quiet and he had been overcome by a deep, slightly uncomfortable slumber.
