Kara awoke to find that her hair had been pulled down to frame her face. Realizing where she was and who she was with, she shot up, grabbing her glasses. She hoped Lena hadn't seen the similarities between her and Supergirl.

"W-what time is it?" she asked, stifling a yawn.

"Four a.m.," Lena answered, checking her phone. "I hope you don't mind that I pulled your hair down. I got bored and messed with it a bit."

"No, no it's fine. Do you need to go home? I'm sure you need to go to work tomorrow, and my back feels a lot better. I think I just needed some rest."

"I'm ok. I'll leave in the morning. Besides, I got some work done on my phone while you were asleep."

"Did you sleep at all?" Kara asked, feeling guilty.

"I drifted off a bit, got an hour or two. Alex stopped by to check on you around midnight."

"Well, uh, do you want to get some more sleep? I didn't mean to keep you up. This must not have been very fun for you."

Lena laughed, her eyes lighting up. She seemed amused by Kara's sheepishness.

"Don't worry about it. You needed that sleep more than I did. If you want to go sleep in your room, I'll stay here on the couch."

"Well, ok," Kara said, yawning sleepily. "But you should stay in my room. My bed's more comfortable, and, as you can see, I have no trouble falling asleep on the couch."

Lena eventually agreed and exited the living room, leaving Kara to fall back asleep rather easily. She woke up a few hours later to the smell of maple syrup and found Lena in the kitchen, her back facing Kara as she grabbed a plate from the cabinet in front of Kara's waffle maker.

"You found my waffle maker?"

"Yup, and I decided to make some breakfast. You have to be at CatCo in an hour, unless you plan on taking the day off. I wouldn't blame you if you did."

"I'm fine," Kara insisted, taking a plate of waffles from Lena. "And you are an insanely good cook."

Lena grinned as she said, "Ok, go in. You seem to be walking around ok. And thank you. For the compliment on my cooking."

Kara smiled encouragingly, shoveling bites of waffle into her already full mouth. Lena soon joined her at the table for breakfast, bringing a glass of milk for Kara when she did. Kara began to eat slower with Lena in her company, trying to be a little more hospitable.

"I really appreciate you being such a good friend," Kara said, in between mouthfuls of food.

Lena replied with, "It was no trouble. You're easy to take care of. And I really appreciate you being my friend." She smiled sadly. "I didn't really have anyone before. My brother tried to kill Superman, nobody wanted to be associated with the Luthor name, my mother was awful, and I threw myself into my work to, uh, distract myself." She began to tear up. "Lex... he may have been awful, but he was the closest thing I had to family."

Kara reached out and took Lena's hand, murmuring, "Hey, it's ok. It's ok." She caught sight of Lena's watch and pushed her chair back, seeming panicked. "I have to be at CatCo in 20 minutes and I'm not ready!"

Lena gave Kara an apologetic look.

"This is my fault. I distracted you. Let me help. I can pick out some kind of outfit for you to wear."

"Uh..." Kara stalled, thinking of her Supergirl costume hanging in her closet.

"Please let me help. I feel bad."

"Ok, just let me get my, um, my hairbrush out of my room. I left it in there. And some underwear. I need a shower."

Lena nodded. "Of course. I'll clear the dishes."

Kara hurriedly walked to her room, grabbed her hairbrush, Supergirl costume, and clean underwear, and managed to sneak everything to the bathroom without Lena seeing anything. Five minutes later, there was a knock on the bathroom door.

"What should I do with your dress?" Lena called, a hint of awkwardness in her voice.

Kara quickly pulled her costume behind a towel and answered, "I'm still in the shower. The door's unlocked. Just hang it on the inside doorknob."

She heard the door creak open and then shut promptly, and she breathed a sigh of relief. When she stepped out, she noticed the dress Lena had picked for her. It was a deep red and was a little shorter than most of Kara's things. It wasn't going to be easy to hide the Supergirl costume under, but it would be doable. In the end, she had to roll the long blue sleeves of her costume halfway up her upper arm to keep it from peeking out under the sleeves of the dress.

Hair dripping wet, she called for Lena and thrust a hairdryer into her hands, and she proceeded to work on her makeup. Lena looked a little amused at Kara's willingness to ask for help and how casual she did so.

"I haven't helped someone with hair since junior high," Lena commented, plugging in the hair dryer.

"Really? Well, I'm sure you'll do better than Win the first time he tried to do my hair." Kara laughed a little at the memory. "It was a disaster."

Lena cocked an eyebrow.

"I'm sure it was."

Lena helped Kara into a pair of black heels that she'd left by the door, and Kara grabbed her bag by the door and immediately began sprinting down the hallway towards the elevators.

"Six minutes," Kara said, breathing heavily.

"How do you do that?" Lena asked, her shoes in her hand.

"Do what?"

"Sprint down the hall in a pair of four inch heels at breakneck speed!"

"Oh," Kara answered, smiling as she recalled all the fights she'd won in her high heeled boots as Supergirl. "Lots and lots of practice."

Outside the apartment building, Kara gave Lena a quick hug before hurrying towards CatCo. Lena stood there, a little surprised at the show of affection, but quickly shook it off, hailing a taxi.
