The man, Victor Nikiforov, just stares at Hoshi. "That is indeed my name. I will tell you why I am here later. Now, why don't you just take Makkachin and have a nice time outside? He really likes playing in the snow and I bet you do too. Also, there is no need to put him on a leash. Makkachin is very well behaved and will stay by the side of whoever is with him. Oh, I just realized that I never got your name."
Hoshi looks up at him kind of nervous. "It's Katsuki Hoshimawari. My grandparents own the inn, and I only just recently returned from Detroit, where I was raised for the most part, by my father. It is nice to meet you Mr. Nikiforov."
Hoshi holds out his hand for Victor to shake. Victor smiles and puts out his hand, shaking the smaller one. "Likewise Hoshimeweri. I am sorry if I butchered saying that a bit. I am not quite skilled at saying all of these foreign names. Is there anything short and simple I can call you? Your name is quite long."
Hoshi laughs. "You did butcher it quite a bit, but that's okay. Everyone just calls me Hoshi for short. Now you better go get in the hot spring. Although it is early, the people of Hasetsu are early risers and are all quick to get in the springs. I can lead you there if you want."
Victor smiles again. "You don't have to. Your grandparents already showed me around and gave me permission to use the private spring out back. I do appreciate you looking after Makkachin for me, though. I'll get going then."
Victor walks off and Hoshi turns to the dog. "Come on Makkachin lets take you on a walk. I bet you will enjoy playing in all the snow."
As Hoshi is taking Makkachin outside, he hears his grandma convincing his chichi to get out of bed. He soon hears his chichi starting to get ready for the day. Hoshi walks Makkachin around the yard for a good five minutes before the dog rushes back to the door just in time to pounce on Yuri as he is opening the door. Hoshi starts back towards the house as well, to make sure his chichi is okay. "Vicchan?" Yuri is cut off by Makkachin licking his face. "You're too big to be Vicchan."
Yuri's father interrupts him telling him that the dog belongs to a new guest at the inn. After looking at the dog for about three more seconds, Yuri runs into the springs to find the man he is looking for. Meanwhile, Hoshi is just coming in from outside, after being abandoned by Makkachin. "Morning ojiisan. Where did chichi run off too?"
Toshiya points in the direction of the spring and Hoshi nods before going into the dining room, with Makkachin in tow. (ha, I bet you thought he was going to follow Yuri. No, he is way too innocent to see something like that.) His grandma hands him a plate of food for breakfast. "Arigato obaasan. Chichi ran into the spring, my guess is he is looking for Victor. What is Victor Nikiforov doing here anyway?"
Hiroko laughs. "Who knows Hoshi. I have an idea, my boy. Go on and take your breakfast upstairs with you and eat breakfast with your mother. I'm sure Izuko would enjoy that very much." Hoshi nods eagerly and heads to spend some time with his mother.
Hiroko hears the shout from her son, probably from finding Victor and laughs. "That boy, I swear he is still a teenager at heart." She makes a bowl of miso soup and some tea for her guest and brings it into the private dining room where he will be eating. Makkachin, that darling dog, follows her and simply lays down on the floor.
In comes Victor, wearing one of the inn's robes, and he sits on the floor thanking Hiroko for their hospitality. "Oh no, it is my pleasure. You don't need to be thanking me. It's not every day that a competitive figure skater other than my Yuri comes in through the doors. Stay as long as you like."
Victor smiles and starts eating the soup. Once he is finished and he has had his tea he lays down on the ground next to Makkachin, who fell asleep while Victor was eating, and falls asleep next to his dog. Yuri comes in and just stares at the sleeping man in front of him. At some point, Minako comes in and flips out over why Victor is here and in the inn's robes. Victor sneezes and wakes up, then next thing Yuri knows, Victor is eating katsudon.
Yuri smiles at the fact that Victor Nikiforov is enjoying katsudon. He then looks at Minako realizing he hasn't seen his son at all. "Hey, Minako do you have any idea where Hoshi is? I haven't seen him all day."
Victor smiles at him. "Oh, that adorable little kid is yours? I guess that makes sense, he did say he just got back from Detroit with his father. Anyways, I saw him earlier this morning. He was taking Makkachin for a walk for me. That was the last I saw of him at least. Perhaps you should ask your parents."
The little pitter patter of feet is heard coming from the hallway. Yuri is relieved when Hoshi runs into the room with, surprisingly, Izuko not far behind him. "Chichi I am so glad I found you. The doctor said that okaasan is okay to move around. So long as she is careful and doesn't do too much moving. So, I decided that I would bring her to meet Victor. Is that okay Mr. Nikiforov?"
Victor nods with his heart-shaped smile on his face. "Oh sure. Also, there is no need to call me Mr. Nikiforov, you can just call me Victor. I'm going to be your father's coach from now on, so you'll be seeing me all the time. Now Yuri, can you explain to me what an okaa san is?"
Yuri smiles. "Not okaa san, okaasan, with no space in between. It is just a way to say, mother. Hoshi's birth mother lives here in Hasetsu and has been staying at the inn because of injuries she received from Hoshi's birth father." Yuri goes to help Izuko sit down. "Izuko, are you sure you are feeling all right enough to be out of bed? You look like you are about to fall over."
She smiles. "Yuri you don't need to worry so much about me. I am a grown woman who can take care of herself. There's no need for special treatment, otherwise, I would have stayed in bed. I came down here because Hoshi wanted me to meet Victor Nikiforov. He's been very excited all morning about it."
Victor smiles and gives her a friendly wave. "Hi. I'm Victor Nikiforov, nice to meet you. And your name is?"
Izuko bows down towards him. "Hello Victor, my name is Izuko Kimura. My boy is such a fan of yours, although I think he gets it from his father. Yuri has been a fan of yours for as long as I've known him, and probably even more before I knew him."
Victor just smiles. "Well, that's a surprise to me."
