"Uh, where are we going?" (Y/N) asked, slightly freaked out by Mrs. Jackson's driving. He sat in the front seat while Percy and Grover sat in the back. Percy's eyes could be seen flicking back and forth from the rearview mirror of the car to his mother, not understanding what was happening.

"Somewhere safe, for both of you," Grover... explained? He really didn't clear up anything at all. (Y/N) was just about to start saying something else when a very familiar weapon pierced the roof of the Camero, stopping approximately two inches short of (Y/N)'s manly bits.

"Right, forgot about those for a second," (Y/N) said, pointing upward with his finger. "So, I may or may not have what can be charitably described as the Holy Host chasing me and wanting to skewer me with these." He touched the spear, which made a slight sizzling sound when he did, causing him to recoil his hand in discomfort.

"Can you speed up a touch, please?"

Ms. Jackson simply rolled her eyes and pressed even harder on the pedal, though doing so did little more besides increase the force between the pedal and the floor. Another spear took the mirror off the passenger side door. The Minotaur's hooves were increasing in volume, clearly getting closer.

"Hold on!" Ms. Jackson yelled, pulling the parking brake on the car and doing a 180 drift. They were now staring directly at a charging Minotaur, nearly visible at the end of the headlights.

"All of you, out!" she yelled, shooing the children out of the car. She opened her own door before opening the glove compartment and pulling out a brick. Said brick was thrown onto the gas pedal, causing the car to take off, going from zero to ninety in about 10 seconds before colliding with the Minotaur. The force alone was enough to send it flying backward, though not far. Probably only ten yards or so.

"Camp's just over this hill, let's go!" Grover yelled, pointing at a decently steep hill. More spears rained from the sky, forcing them to serpentine, costing them valuable time.

Too much time, it would turn out.

When they reached the apex of the hill, the tallest pine tree (Y/N) had ever seen was sitting atop it, though something about it gave (Y/N) a strange vibe. Like it shouldn't be there. He had no time to ponder that, though, as the Minotaur had caught up with them. Thankfully it seemed the angels had left them alone now, for whatever reason. Grover had told them that they just needed to crest the hill, and they'd be safe.

Then (Y/N) felt like he ran headfirst into a brick wall.

Some kind of force or barrier was keeping him out, same story for Ms. Jackson. He was so focused on reaching the top of the hill, that he hadn't noticed that the Minotaur was practically right next to them.

"Run, Percy!" she yelled at her son. "I can't go any farther. Run!"

Percy just stood there, frozen, as the bull-man charged his mother and (Y/N). They both attempted to dodge out of the way, but Ms. Jackson was trying to make sure that (Y/N) got out of the way, causing her to be too slow on the jump. The horn of the Minotaur went right through her stomach. Her dying breath, she managed one final word.

"Go!"

The life faded from her eyes, as she began to melt into light, a shimmering and golden form, just like the hag that Percy had kiled at the museum. (Y/N) stood, realizing that a boy's mother had died so that he could live, but it all seemed so pointless. He couldn't pass the barrier, meaning he was free lunch for the bull-man. But, he refused to just give up, so he clawed and scratched at the barrier, seemingly nothing happening.

"C'mon, c'mon!" he exclaimed, the sound of the Minotaur preparing to charge becoming audible once again.

"I want..." (Y/N) kept digging his fingers into the barrier, though something was strange that (Y/N) just hadn't seemed to notice. His fingers had burst into flame.

"To..." the fire burned away some of the barrier, but only slightly. He was beginning to find some purchase.

"LIVE!" (Y/N) gave one final shout, as he ripped his hands apart from each other, creating a gap in the barrier just large enough for him to fall through. As soon as he had, the barrier sealed behind him, causing the Minotaur to bonk its head against it. (Y/N) took to his feet to ensure that he was, in fact, alive. However, his adrenaline was wearing out fast, and he was only just able to make out the vague shape of Percy charging the Minotaur before collapsing to the ground, passed out from exhaustion.

When (Y/N) awoke, he found himself in a position that was... less than comfortable. He was tied to a bed at the wrists. Had he been able to, he would've lifted his hands to his head to apply some pressure to the headache he could feel coming on.

"Ugh, what the hell happened?" he asked no one in particular. The entire night's events are ones he would've chalked up to a fever dream had it not been for the state he awoke in.

"How about you tell me, (Y/N)," a voice came from the foot of the bed. It was Mr. Brunner, the sixth grade history teacher. "You're the one who burned through the only thing keeping us all safe."

"Because it wasn't letting me in, and I was scared of the Mino-"

"Do not use its actual name, (Y/N)," Brunner advised. "Just because Percy banished it for now does not mean it cannot hurt you still."

"... Right, scared of the bull-man, and I just... I didn't want to die, y'know?"

"No one ever does, (Y/N), so I suppose I can understand that." Brunner wheeled next to the bed and began untying the knots that kept (Y/N) restrained. When it was done, the boy rubbed his wrists, both for soreness and slight rope burn.

"Come with me, these thin walls tell me that Percy is beginning to come to as well."
