You reached class expected to be greeted by hu tao but instead found a familiar male sitting at the spot beside your chair.

"what the fuck?" you rubbed your eyes to make sure it wasn't actually him until your eyes landed on hu tao who was waving at you with an innocent smile as she was now sitting in xiao's previous seat.

"well good morning to you," you greeted deciding to deal with it anyways. xiao was zoned out for a few minutes before responding.

he was only talking to himself in his head wondering how he ended up in such a situation. last night was the final time he'd talk to you so why was he now sitting beside you?

it was all because of hutao and he knew that she was most definitely going to pay for this. when he first entered the classroom he was instrutced to switch places with hu tao.

xiao gave you a small glance which was basically saying hi in his way since he wasn't much of a talker. more like he didn't want to talk to people.

The lesson started and you boredly began to just think about random things until you remembered you had a seatmate to bother.

"hi xiao," you greeted turning to him with a smile. in return he gave you a concerned look back knowing you were up to no good already.

"wanna play?" you slid a white blank paper in between you guys. he looked at you then at the paper before sighing. there was no harm in playing and the lesson was quite boring so there was nothing to lose.

he picked up a pencil which gave you the answer of yes. because xiao was one of the smartest students in the grade, it was no problem beating you.

"I hate your smartass," you insulted getting mad at how many times hes won now. you were seriously getting pissed. it was now your turn and you were focusing on what strategy to use next.

xiao raised his head up to stare at you and watched as your expressions changed every few seconds. he found it amusing on how hard you were trying.

but it also made him almost happy to see you like this. he wasn't one to smile so much and he always pushed people away but with you he couldn't help but have a soft hidden smile on his face.

you finally did your next move and brought your head up to meet his eyes. he was taken a back and quickly wiped off the smile he didn't even know he had on his face.

"what? were you staring at me?" you raised your eyebrow suspiciously. "no why would I?" he scoffed.

"to make fun of me?"

"you're an idiot"

"whatever your turn," you rolled your eyes and blinked for one second just for the next second to reveal you losing.

"I won," he stated dropping his pencil and you grabbed the paper balling it up into a ball angrily.

"this game is ass"

xiao hummed then put out another blank sheet of paper in the middle of you two. "I'll go easy on you," he nodded of course he wasn't actually going to.

he had no sympathy for people, he didn't like to get pitied so why should he pity people?

but then again he wanted to see you win and so when the last move came and you won.

you joking around with him and your face lighting up at finally winning after several rounds perhaps made his day.

you put your cheek on the desk resting your head as all your hair fell in front of you blocking your sight. you just groaned in response happy to finally win.

"congrats," xiao reached his hand out to remove the hair in your face. he thought it was bothering you and it was the least he could do so it was whatever.

he tucked the lose hair strands behind your ear making your eyes widen. realizing what he just did he snapped his head to the side avoiding eye contact embarrassed at what he just did.

he was way too caught up with the moment.

he didn't want anyone to end up like them, all because they were importanf to him. you deserved better way better than him. he wasn't suppose to be doing this.

"one more?" you proposed with a smile completely cutting off xiao's deep thoughts. you could read his gloomy expression you didn't know why he kept pushing everyone away but if he didn't want to talk about it he didn't want to.

so you didn't pry any longer and just awaited for his answer. Just this once just one last time he swore to himself.

"one more."
