A couple of weeks have passed by and tonight Mark and I were actually going on a date! We hadn't done this for a while because we have been so busy. So, It will be nice to spend some time one on one together.

I curled my hair, put on a tiny bit of make up then changed into a blush coloured dress. Mark had told me to not dress too fancy but fancy enough because we were going out. So, I played it safe and paired the dress with a pair of matching heels.

Once I was done I exited the bathroom and sprayed a bit of perfume on myself. I then walked to the main area where Mark was waiting. I spotted him before he spotted me. He looked very hot and sophisticated in his usual tux. I walked over and as he saw me his face dropped.

"You look very beautiful Lex" he spoke looking me up and down

"You don't look too bad yourself" I replied finishing the tie on his tux "Very hot" I added and pulled him down by the tie to meet my lips. We kissed for a short moment before Mark broke it apart.

"We better get going before our reservation is cancelled"

I agreed and grabbed my purse whilst Mark grabbed his jacket and we left the apartment hand in hand. Once we left the building we got into a taxi straight away and headed to the restaurant. In the taxi there wasn't much conversation. Mark just had his arm around me as I sunk into his chest, I constantly intertwined our fingers whilst he brushed my thigh and continually kissed my forehead. We walked into the restaurant with our hands intertwined. It was much fancier than I was expecting the place to be. Our waiter walked us to our table and gave us our menus.

"This place so fancy Mark, I almost feel out of place" I spoke and took a sip of my water

"Nothing is too fancy for you Lex" Mark responded grabbing my hands from across the table and interlacing them with his "You deserve this treat" He rubbed his thumbs against my hands.

I smiled and the waiter brought us over a bottle of champagne. He poured a glass for me then a glass for Mark. "I'll be back later to take your order" He spoke. Mark and I thanked him then he left. We picked up our menus and began to browse the various food options.

I was mid browsing when Mark spoke "Lex"

"mhmm" I replied still scanning the menu clearly not concentrating

I must have forgotten that he wanted to say something because after a while I felt a foot caress my leg. I playfully caressed Mark's leg in return.

"Lex" He spoke again and this time he took my menu away

I glared my eyes jokingly and Mark smiled "Mark" I responded this time giving him my full attention.

He gazed into my eyes "You're stunning"

"And you're magnificent" I replied as the waiter came back over

Mark never broke his stare

"What can I get for you two tonight?" the waiter asked

"Um I'll just have the pesto please" I spoke as the waiter turned to Mark who was still starring. I began to get red in the cheeks knowing that this was no longer private.

"Mark" I spoke tapping his hand

He broke his stare and wrapped his hand around the hand I tapped him with.

"I'll just get the steak thanks" Mark responded and the waiter left

"You have to stop doing that" I spoke

"Doing what?" He asked and started staring again

"That, the staring"

"I can't help it, you're too beautiful not to stare"

I immediately felt the heat rush to my cheeks and they began to get red. Mark noticed and caressed my cheek with the hand that wasn't holding mine.

After a while our dinner came out and we ate it laughing, talking, and Mark would still stare which would make me blush.

"Let's go for a walk" Mark spoke

He got up from his chair quickly and helped me up from mine, we split the bill after I insisted that Mark not pay for it all considering that it was pricey. We left the restaurant and began walking down a random street in Seattle.

"So, tell me Lex" Mark began talking as our hands swayed together in unison

"Tell you what?" I asked as we continued to walk

"Anything, I just want to hear your voice" He responded

"Um well today I baby sat Sofia which was a treat, we played all day long. You know she really loves to paint, she painted you a flower, I'll have to get her to give it to you tomorrow -" I began rambling on I could tell that Mark was still listening because he asked me follow up questions like 'really she does?'. After I finished telling him about my day with Sofia we found ourselves at the Space Needle in Seattle.

"Wanna go up?" Mark asked and I didn't hesitate

"Yes!" I responded and Mark took my hand and we took the elevator up to the deck on the top floor 

"This is amazing" I screamed as I ran out onto the deck

The view was amazing, the city skyline was so surreal.

"How pretty is this" I spoke as I lent over the balcony

"Almost as pretty as you" Mark replied as he stood next to me on the balcony

"The only negative is that it is freezing up here" I complained as I rubbed my hands together

Mark noticed and took off his jacket and wrapped it around my shoulders "don't be silly Mark you need this more than I do" I commented

"No I don't Lex, you do" he responded and placed a kiss on my lips after he was done attaching the jacket to me.

Mark pulled me into his chest and we both watched the city skyline for a while just taking in how pretty it was. It was crazy to think that I almost missed moments like this when I almost died.

"I cannot get over the view" I spoke still in Marks arms

He kissed my hair and rubbed my arms trying to contain my chill.

"I'm going to the bathroom Lex" Mark spoke and I let him go

"Don't be too long" I replied as I watched him leave

I continued to take in the view, hearing all the city noise and seeing the light activity that was going on down on the streets. A pair of huge arms that wrapped around my chest brought me back to my reality. Mark placed his head near my neck and I relaxed mine to meet his. We swayed side to side for a while.

"Lex" Mark spoke

"mhmm" I responded and I felt his arms leave my body "don't leave me" I pleaded trying to pull him back but he let go quickly. I turned around to catch him but was caught off guard by what he was doing. My heart stopped, it was like time froze. All of the blood and oxygen left my body. I felt like I was going to faint.

Mark was on the floor, on one knee holding a box. He had a smile plastered on his face and his blue eyes sparkled with the city lights. It took me a while to process what was going on.

"Alexandra Caroline Grey" Mark began and I placed a hand over my mouth

"I promise to do everything in my power to continue to be your perfect match. I want to be the boyfriend, fiancee, and future husband you deserve. I want to become your happily ever after, and I will do my best for your incredible smile to never fade. You are an amazing person that has changed me in the best way possible, you are the best 'step-mother' to Sofia and I know you will be the most terrific mother to our future kids. The list of positives goes on but Lexie, I just want you to know that you are the greatest and most precious gift that has been given to me in my life and I want it to last forever."

I was in a puddle of tears throughout the speech and so was Mark. I would wipe his tears away and he would wipe mine away.

"So, I ask you Lexie. Will you marry me?" Mark asked

I felt like my heart was about to leap out of my chest. I struggled to find the words because I was so choked on tears.

"Yes!" I spoke and Mark jumped up

He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. We both said nothing but instead cried into each others arms just taking in the moment. Eventually, we pulled apart and Mark let me down. He grabbed my tiny ring finger and placed the ring on it and I placed his ring on his finger.

"We're engaged"  I spoke looking at Mark

He nodded "We are engaged"

My smile grew wider and I jumped into his arms again. We held onto each other for a while just swaying and sharing kisses. Once we let go we headed home and called it a night.
