The air beneath the stone bridge feels heavy, charged with emotions that have been simmering for too long. Chase stands tall, his eyes blazing with a mixture of rage and heartbreak as he locks eyes with Rocky. Skye, still trembling from her ordeal, clutches Rocky's shoulder, seeking solace in the one pup who had always been her beacon of hope.
Rocky takes a step forward, his voice steady but filled with fury. "Chase, I don't know who you are anymore. You're supposed to be one of us. A protector. A friend. But look at what you've done. Look at her!" He motions to Skye, who shrinks behind him.
Chase's jaw tightens, his claws digging into the dirt beneath him. "Don't act like you know me, Rocky," he growls, his voice low and trembling. "You think you're better than me? You think she's better off with you? You don't understand what it's like to care this much!"
"I do care," Rocky retorts, his green eyes narrowing. "I care about her, Chase, but I don't use that as an excuse to hurt her. This isn't love, it's obsession. And it's tearing you apart."
For a moment, Chase falters. The words cut deep, exposing the truth he had been refusing to acknowledge. His ears droop slightly, and his gaze softens as he looks at Skye.
But then he sees her paw resting on Rocky's shoulder, her pink eyes filled with trust and gratitude, for someone else. The flicker of regret vanishes, consumed by a surge of anger and jealousy. His lips curl into a snarl, and his voice becomes a growl. "You don't deserve her. You never did."
Rocky steps forward, his own frustration boiling over. "And you think you do? Look at what you've done, Chase! Look at what you've become!"
The tension snaps like a breaking wire. Both pups growl ferociously, their bodies tensing before they launch at each other with furious speed.
The clash is instant, violent, and primal. Chase's larger frame slams into Rocky, sending him skidding across the dirt. Rocky recovers quickly, rolling to his paws and lunging back with a surprising burst of energy. Their jaws snap, their claws rake, and their growls echo through the hollow space under the bridge.
Chase's strength gives him the upper paw as he forces Rocky onto his back. "You think you can take her from me?" Chase snarls, his paw pressing against Rocky's chest. "I won't let you!"
Rocky twists beneath him, kicking out with his hind legs and throwing Chase off balance. He springs to his feet, his fur bristling as he charges again. "She's not yours, Chase! She's not anyone's!"
Their blows become more brutal, more desperate. Chase's teeth graze Rocky's shoulder, drawing blood. Rocky retaliates with a swipe of his claws across Chase's muzzle, leaving a red mark that makes Chase howl in rage.
Skye watches in horror, tears streaming down her face as the two pups she cares about tear into each other. "Stop it! Please, stop!" she cries, her voice breaking. But they're too lost in their fury to listen.
Chase finally gains the upper hand, his sheer strength overpowering Rocky's agility. With a savage growl, he slams Rocky to the ground, pinning him down with a force that makes Skye gasp.
Rocky groans in pain, his body limp beneath Chase's weight. Blood stains his fur, and his breathing is ragged. Skye rushes forward, her tears falling freely as she kneels beside him. "Rocky! No, please!"
Chase, his chest heaving and his fur matted with sweat and dirt, steps back. His eyes flicker with a moment of realization as he sees Rocky lying motionless and Skye sobbing over him. But the anger still smolders beneath his gaze.
The sound of approaching pawsteps echoes through the tunnel. Sweetie emerges, her silver coat catching the faint light as she surveys the scene. Her violet eyes widen slightly at the sight of Rocky's battered form and Skye's tear-streaked face.
"Well, well, darling," Sweetie says, her voice dripping with mock surprise. "I didn't realize we were hosting a brawl. And here I thought we were hiding."
Chase whirls around, his fur still bristling. "This isn't your business, Sweetie," he growls, his voice cold.
Sweetie tilts her head, her smirk returning as she steps closer. "Oh, but it is, darling. After all, I went through so much trouble to keep you hidden. And now you've gone and made a mess of things."
Skye glares at Sweetie through her tears. "Please, do something. Look at how far everything went."
Sweetie shrugs nonchalantly, her tail flicking behind her. "Perhaps not, darling."
She turns her gaze to Rocky, her expression briefly unreadable. "What a shame," she murmurs, almost to herself. "And here I thought he'd be more... resilient."
Skye bristles, her voice shaking with fury. "Leave him alone, Sweetie. Just leave us alone!"
Sweetie's smirk fades slightly as she looks at Chase. "You've got a choice to make, darling. Keep this up, and you'll lose her forever. Though by the looks of it..." She glances at Skye, her lips curling into a sly smile. "That ship might have already sailed."
Chase's eyes dart between Sweetie, Skye, and Rocky, his anger giving way to confusion and despair. The weight of his actions hangs heavy in the air, but the damage has already been done.
