I stood up, ignoring the stares. They wanted to know, all of them wanted to know. Matt caught my arm as I passed him.
'What should I tell them?'
'I don't care,' I looked him in the eyes. 'Only tell Chris
the truth, I trust him.'
'Okay,' he gave me a small smile. 'Are you sure you'll be
alright on your own.'
'Yeah.'
He let go of my arm and I started walking back down the hall. I walked back to my room and through the door frame, over the door. Great, I'm gonna have to fix that. I sat on my bed, staring out of the dark window. I hadn't even realized that it had gotten dark.
I glanced over at my clock. It was 11:47. Wow, it had gotten late. I hope someone made dinner. I changed into a pair of pajama shorts and a white t-shirt. I wasn't in the mood to be wearing that nightgown anymore.
My stomach grumbled, loudly. I stared at it, frowning. Damn hungry stomach... I guess I have to go scrounge up something to eat now. I walked out of my room, throwing my hair out of my face. It brushed my lower back. Maybe I should cut it soon...
"Vi?" it was Chris.
I turned around to face him. I didn't like that look in his eyes, I hate being pitied.
"I'm not pitying you if that's what you're thinking," he gave me a little smile. "Thank you for letting Matt tell me."
"No problem," I grinned. "Now do we have anything to eat in this place?"
"I guess so," he laughed. "We had lasagna for dinner if you want some. There's some French bread too."
"Yay!" I beamed. "Let's eat!"
Before I could turn around, his arms shot up around my waist and he pulled me into his chest. I stood there in shock for a long minute. Eventually I wrapped my arms around him too, he was being comforting and I appreciated it.
"I'm really fine Chris," I murmured.
"I know," he sighed. "I..."
"It's fine," I laughed a little. "Chris, thank you, you're always here for me."
"No problem," he laughed too. "You're like my little sister Vi, I hate to see you like this."
"You can't erase the past," I pulled away. "No matter how many people say that, it's true."
"I know," he patted my head. "Now how about that dinner."
"You read my mind," I grinned, taking off for the stairs at full speed.
I heard him laugh, following me.
NICK POV
I watched Victoria walk back to her room, looking almost... like she was lost. I had a near inescapable urge to go after her...
"You should all act like nothing happened," Matt told us, but he was looking straight at me. "Chris, I need to talk to you. Everyone else, could you please leave us."
"Do we have any mission's planned for tomorrow?" Nina asked slowly.
"Not that I know about," Matt told her. "Now please everyone, leave us."
I grit my teeth, I didn't want to leave Matt with Chris. I knew that he was going to tell him something important, something about Victoria. Matt wouldn't do that without permission from Vi herself.
Why would she give permission to that dog and not me?!
I walked away, not looking at anyone else. I was going to talk to that human. I don't care that Matt forbade it, I need to know what's going on.
I flew to his room, it was on the fourth floor, at the end. Near Matt's, but still alone. What a loser. He was asleep when I went in. Idiot didn't even lock his door, not that it would have done him much good. He didn't have a clue about what happened.
I woke him up the easy way, by dumping a glass of water on his face.
"WHAT THE FUCK?!" he exploded, jumping up. I just laughed.
"I need to ask you about how you know Victoria," I got straight down to business.
"Who?" he gave me a blank, tired look.
"The girl that hates you," I sighed. "Long red hair."
"The demon?" he narrowed his eyes at me. I didn't like that look.
"Yes, the demon."
"I don't know her," he yawned. "Now kindly piss off so I can go back to sleep."
"No, you kindly tell me what you know or I will kindly kill you." My voice was dead with malice, but he didn't so much as blink. Stupid damn brave human. I let my wings out again.
"Glossy," he smirked. "Should I be impressed?"
"No," I smirked right back. "You should be fearing for your life right about now."
"Tough luck," he stood up, walking to his window. "Even if I knew anything about that girl, I would hardly tell the man that's so obviously in love with her."
"I'm not in love with Victoria," I told it calmly. Damn this. He's smart, fearless, annoying, but I'm starting to see why he's here.
"Of course not."
"Don't toy with me human," he was really starting to piss me off.
"Or what?" he looked back at me. "You'll invoke God's wrath on me? Oh, no wait, God doesn't love you anymore."
That's it. Rage boiled through my entire system, turning my eyes black. This damned human... HE DARED TO BRING THAT UP!
I lunged, fuelled purely by hate. I smacked that idiot square in the jaw, sending him flying. I didn't care that he was unconscious, I was going for blood. I ran forward, jerking my silver dagger out of my pocket as I went.
'STOP!'
I reeled around, gasping in shock. Matt was just standing there, arms folded.
"I heard what he said to you Nick," our glorious leader stared at me, very calmly.
"Then why are you stopping me from killing him?!" I yelled, furiously. THAT STUPID HUMAN HAS TO DIE!
"You know why," he didn't raise his voice, but he didn't have to.
I clenched my jaw, storming out of the room. I hit Matt's shoulder on the way out, but he didn't do anything about it. He was probably too busy seeing if the idiot was still alive.
Still, Matt wouldn't be able to protect that human all the time. If I didn't take him out soon enough, someone else would. That guy's just asking for it.
I took deep breaths on my way to Vi's room. I needed to talk to her. I came around the corner and froze. Chris was... holding Vi. Bastard. Damn fucking bastard.
I ran before I lost my control. I was already seething because of that damn human... this is just too much.
I thought that Chris and her were just friends... but no. That damn bastard wants Vi for himself. Damn it! I ran straight to my room, slamming the door behind me.
I stared at my room with dark eyes, then, without thinking, I trashed it.
NINA POV
I wanted to know what was wrong with Victoria, badly. I mean, when we let our powers out, we were mortal enemies, but I like her. She's the only girl, but that's not the only reason. I decided to see if there was anything on TV, so I headed into the living room.
Jay was already there, watching something... I peeked at the screen. It was Alien vs. Predator. Well... not my favorite, but I was in the mood to watch something, so I sat down.
I looked over at Jay. He looked blank, probably thinking about something. I was kinda surprised actually... he's not really the thinking type. I smiled to myself; everyone really was worried about Vi. I don't think he was even watching the movie.
It got to the bit where an alien burst out of some poor woman's chest.
"That's horrible," I wrinkled my nose. It really was horrible...
"Huh?" Jay looked at me with confused eyes.
I laughed, he was adorable sometimes. His platinum blonde hair fell in front of his eyes, and stood up in little tufts, like he'd just woken up. His ice blue eyes were tired, but still had that little sparkle. If he wasn't such a player... I think I might have loved him.
Still, he was too much for me.
"What were you thinking about?"I asked.
"Just about what Matt told Chris," he sighed, turning off the movie. "I want to know why he only told Chris."
"You know Vi," I smiled a little sad smile. "I'm sure she gave permission for it. She's really close to Chris anyways."
"Yeah," he ran a hand through his hair. "I heard that they knew each other before this."
"Really?" I stared at him. I hadn't heard anything like that.
"Well, I kind of overheard them actually," he gave me an adorable sheepish smile. "They were talking about a vacation in the Swiss Alps."
"I guess it's possible," I sighed. "Having this human here really messed things up."
"Yup," he laughed. "I don't really know what to make of him though."
"I don't like him," I said instantly. "When I was healing me that idiot grabbed my ass."
"I definitely like him then," he laughed. "He's a sly one too, I didn't see it."
"Don't you dare take his side," I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Shouldn't you forgive him?" he gave me a sly look. "Aren't angels all forgiving?"
"This angel has free will," I smirked. "That gives me the option to be pissed off at mortal men who grab my ass."
"Fair enough," he laughed.
My head snapped up to the door when I heard crashing in the kitchen. I looked over at Jay. Another crash was followed with very loud laughing. Chris' laughing. Jay just grinned.
"Sounds like the puppy's making a mess of a kitchen."
"Go say hi?"
"Let's go."
