They were still laughing uncontrollably when we went in for lunch. We settled on a place called PizzaPapalis, even though there weren't many seats, we managed to get them all to ourselves. Well... Chris scared the people out by opening his amber eyes really wide at them...
Finally, everyone stopped laughing. Until a black BMW drove by, then they all started up again. I sighed and just ate pizza. They'll give up eventually. Two hours and nine pizza's later, we were ambling around. Nina wanted to shop, but she was alone on that.
"Pleeeaaase Vi!" she tugged on my arm.
"No way Nina," I crossed my arms. "I hate shopping."
"Amen," Nick sighed.
"No one asked your opinion!" Nina snapped at him. There they go...
"We are in public," Matt very calmly, like he was talking to them like they were two year olds. "If you make a scene you will be going home in the same car."
They both shuddered at the thought.
I looked up at the looming city buildings. How fun would it be to fly up beyond those buildings... way up there where I can actually smell fresh air and not diesel fumes. Somewhere...over the rainbow... I smiled to myself, I'm so melodramatic.
"What's so funny?" Chris put an arm on my shoulder, using me as an armrest. I glared up at him, just because he's like six foot...
"Nothin'," I stuck my tongue out.
"And I thought you were a mature one," he shook his head.
"You're one to talk!" I pushed his arm off. "Mr. 6" three year old."
"You hurt me Vi..." he clutched his chest melodramatically.
"No comment," I laughed, walking ahead to where Matt was still having a 'talk' with Nina and Nick. I smiled again, passing them. I felt like walking in the front. Who knows why, I just feel like being in the front sometimes.
The street was basically empty. I wonder where we're even going... Without warning something wrapped around my waist, jerking me sideways with enough force to break a human rib. I was dragged back and felt a knife at my throat before I could react. Bastard caught me by surprise.
"I would suggest letting her go before you get seriously hurt," Matt's voice made me look up. Nick and Chris were looking murderous, Matt cautious, Nina nervous, and Justin like he just didn't care. Out of all the expressions I think I preferred Justin's.
"Me hurt?!" the human laughed. I wrinkled my nose. He reeked of drugs and grime, not to mention his breath...
"Don't make me hurt you," I told him very calmly.
"Shut up bitch!" he pressed the knife into my skin, causing a little stream of blood to appear. "Everyone give me all your valuables all your money!"
"Shut the fuck up you disgusting human," my voice was low and lethal. The bastard made me bleed. No human makes me bleed. Their disgusting race destroyed everything THEY ALL DESERVE TO DIE!
"Vi don't!" Matt's shout was too late.
I twisted in the human's grip, slipping away from the knife. One kick sent him flying backwards into the stone wall of the alley. He met my eyes with his pathetic terrified ones. He lifted the knife to his heart. Three...Two...
"No!" Chris tackled me hard, sending us both flying across the alley.
"GET OFF!" I yelled, fighting him with all my strength.
I am going to kill that human!
"No Vi!" Chris pinned my arms. "You don't want to kill him! You don't want to use your power!"
"Yes I do!" I thrashed. "GET OFF!"
As furious as I was, Chris was still stronger. To get him off I'd have to kill him. I'm not going to do that. Chris sat on my legs, holding my wrists by my head. I glared at him for a long minute before looking away. Damn it... damn it because he was right. I don't want to use that power. I don't want to kill anyone. It's just those humans... that disgusting race...
"Victoria?" Matt came up behind Chris. "Are you in control now?"
"Yes."
"Alright, Chris you can let her go now."
"But-"
"The human is long gone."
"Okay then," Chris jumped up.
I just lay there, in the grime of the alley, staring at the sky. I didn't want to move. They all left the alley, leaving me to myself. I knew they were just on the outside. I didn't want to talk to them, didn't want to face them. I ruined our day off...
I got up, brushing as much filth off myself as physically possible. I walked to the end of the alley and turned away from them, walking on my own. I heard Nick starting to follow me before he was stopped.
"Leave her," Matt murmured.
Yeah, just leave me alone.
"Come on Nina," Jay laughed. "I'll take you shopping."
"Yay!" she squealed, but it was half-heartedly.
Damn me and my temper.
I found myself going further and further away from the city. I guess I'm walking home. It's a hell of a long walk, so it should clear my head.
I heard my phone ringing an hour later, but I ignored it. I wasn't in the mood to talk to them. An hour after that I heard a motorcycle powering its way up the road behind me. A very familiar motorcycle. I sighed, stopping. He pulled up next to me.
It was just Chris, no Nina. She must have taken the hummer back, there was no way she would have ridden three hours in a car with Nick.
"Hey," he gave me one of his 'you should smile' smiles.
"Hey," I looked at the ground. "I'm sorry, I screwed up everyone's day off."
"It's fine Vi," he laughed. "We've all had our time to mess up."
"I guess so," I smiled, looking back up at him.
"Remember that time we went to that theme park," he grinned. "And Ray's contacts came out?"
"I remember that," I grinned back. "That girl had a heart attack... and Jay had to bring her back."
"We all had to run away before the police showed up."
"Yeah..." I smiled at the sky. "Thanks Chris, I guess I've been feeling a little off for a while now."
"Don't mention it," he smiled. "But Vi? What do you mean you've been off for a while? You've been acting normal."
"I just have one of my strange feelings that something's gonna happen."
"Something bad?" he was worried now.
Damn I shouldn't have brought it up...
"No, it's not bad, it's just that something big is gonna happen something that's gonna change everything."
"You should tell Matt," he told me. "Seriously Vi."
"Have they gone back already?" I asked. "I didn't see the cars go by."
"They took the other route," he said. "I went this way just in case you did."
"Thanks," I smiled. "Mind giving me a ride?"
"Hop on," he grinned. "And hold on tight, I wanna make it back before them and this way's half an hour longer."
I held on and he drove faster than should be physically possible. I'm guessing he did his own little modifications on the bike.
We made it home at the same time as the others. I stared up at the huge mansion, my home for the past six months. I was second to last to get here, just before Nick. It looked like something someone had grabbed out of a fairytale and dropped deep in a random forest in Michigan. Still, I loved the place.
"Good thing you went the other way," Jay told Chris, patting me on the head. "Hey, you have leaves in your hair." He started pulling a few out.
"Well it is fall," I told him. "And I didn't a helmet."
"Wear a helmet next time," Matt threw over his shoulder, walking into the mansion.
"No leaves managed to get into your dress did they?" Jay looked at me expectantly. I just punched him in the arm and went inside. "What'd I say?!"
I walked up the steps and half way into the hall, still laughing.
Until I saw him.
