So this is kinda like a head cannon I have for the two. Like, how they got out of their friendship.

(Third POV)

Conductor was in another heated argument with his rival. But unlike most of their arguments, they were the only ones in the studio. No one else could be able to hear them. Or the things they were saying.

The owl felt like slapping the penguin. His voice was shrill and his yelling was more of screeching.

"YE ALWAYS TRY TO MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER! BUT YOU ALWAYS END UP MAKIN' IT WORSE!" Conductor screamed, trying to mash the Grooves' height.

Grooves just felt really hurt by what he was saying. Whenever the arguments got like this, Grooves always ended up just trying to calm him down.

Usually, it would work, and Conductor would just scoff a sorry and leave. But not this time. As Conductor's words got more and more insulting, he fought back with the same anger.

"DON'T TALK TO ME LIKE THAT, DARLING! YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST BOSS EVERYONE AROUND!" Grooves yelled.

Conductor was surprised by Grooves yelling back at him for once like this. He ran his fingers through his feathers as he could his stress and anger levels raising.

"PECK NECK! WHAT A DISGRACE YOU ARE! I WISH I NEVER MEANT YOU!"  Conductor yelled back.

Grooves felt like crying now. That wasn't the first time he heard that from the Conductor. It hurt all those years ago, and hurts now.

He took his glasses off and slammed them on the table. So, the Conductor could see how distraught he was at that.

"DARLING, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO YOU? DO YOU EVEN REMEMBER WHAT WE HAD?" Grooves desperately said.
"OH, DON'T GIVE ME THAT!" Conductor growled.

Grooves gripped Conductor's shoulders. He just wanted this to end, he wished this all was a bad dream.

"Darling, I miss you. Don't you miss what we had?" Grooves asked, softening his tone in hoping to chill the Conductor's temper.

Conductor gave the other a irritated look. He didn't like Grooves' bringing up there past. It always made him guilty, that Dj Peck Neck always knew who to tug his heartstrings.

"No, I don't. Get outta my face!" Conductor coldly answered as he pushed Grooves off of him.

Grooves didn't expect that answer. Hot tears started to roll down his face. He picked up his glasses and stormed out as the Conductor turned a blind eye.

Conductor didn't bother to look at the penguin as he walked out. Grooves seemed upset but he didn't care.

"Why can't we just be friends?" Grooves said before he slammed the door.

Conductor cringed as he heard the door slam. It was loud and it felt like his ear drums snapped.

Conductor walked over to his desk in a huff and sat down. He pushed his hands in his face and groaned in frustrated. They hadn't a dispute like this in years.

He reached down and opened the desk for a flask. As he reached for it he saw something that made him gasp.

It was a old picture. But what was on it made his feathers puff up. It was a picture of him and Grooves as teenagers.

The picture was simple and innocent. Grooves was clearly holding the camera. The penguin had his arm around the owl's shoulders and they both seemed happy.

Conductor didn't remember having this in his desk. He looked deeper in the desk. The more he looked in the desk the more he found.

He found countless pictures of the pair, they looked so happy in all of them. He also found some letters Grooves had written him or just random notes.

Eventually, he had a small pile on his desk of just happy memories and photos.

When he couldn't find anymore, he felt almost sadden and disappointed. He kept telling himself he shouldn't be feeling like this! But it wouldn't go away.

He hated dwelling on the past. The memory of how there endless years of argument started in first place came up.

They were both only just 15. Two blind, stupid, and naive teenage birds. They had been friends ever since they were 6.

This was their first ever scuffle. It started when they disagreed on something small. Conductor made a snarky remark to his best friend. Grooves snapped and the argument started to spiral out of control.

It ended on Conductor screaming at the penguin he was a disgrace and he wished he never meant him. Grooves in answer was in tears. He ran away and didn't look back.

Conductor had pushed it away because he had regretted it so much, he just never got a chance to tell him he was sorry.

Now that they were older, he forgot about their dispute when he saw him again after all those years.

As the careers advanced Grooves eventually brought it up. But Conductor just gave him a not genuine apology.

Grooves still mentioned it and even tried to form a friendship again. Conductor still argued and flipped out.

Maybe he should apologize for it. Better now than ever, right?

Conductor took the picture he found first. Putting the picture in his coat, he left his office to find the penguin.

First, he checked Grooves' office. He wasn't there. Which threw Conductor off. Maybe he's at his set?

Conductor began to walk to the penguin's set. The studio almost felt empty with no lights and deafening music.

"Grooves!" Conductor screamed out. "Look! I know it's a bad time, but I'm sorry!"

There was no answer. Conductor didn't want to look around the whole studio for him! This studio was humongous!

After almost tripping on a wire and walking into a disco ball, Conductor ended up in the Big Parade movie set.

He walked on the streets looking up at all the tall buildings. He was about to leave again when he overlook one building.

Of course, Grooves would only be on the highest building so he could see the stars. Conductor almost laughed at himself as he should've known that from the start.

Conductor could see a figure of Grooves on the building. He was looking up, he hadn't seem to notice Conductor yet.

"Grooves!" Conductor called out.

The penguin seemed to noticed him and turned around. But when he saw who called out to him he turned back around.

Conductor realized Grooves would probably make him climb the building. Might as well get started.

As Conductor got closer and closer to the top. He could feel his grip getting weaker. As he was about to reach the top of the building, he lost his footing and started to fall.

"CONDUCTOR!"

Instead of hitting the concrete he felt someone holding onto his wrist. He looked up and saw Grooves.

The penguin pulled him up to the building. Conductor quickly brushed off his clothes and watches Grooves go back to his spot.

The owl really don't how to start this conversation. He almost wanted to penguin to say something so he could come up with something to say.

"Grooves, you didn't have to do that." Conductor softly said.
"Mad or not darling, it's not worth you getting hurt." Grooves answered with looking at him.

Conductor sighed and took out the picture, he looked as if it was giving luck with this.

"Grooves, I'm sorry. I know I said some dreadful things and poorly excused my behavior, but you were right, I do miss you." Conductor answered.
He heard Grooves heavenly sigh but not and response.

Conductor slowly walked over and sat next to Grooves. He had the photo in his hands so he couldn't see it.

"After our argument earlier, I was looking through my desk and look what I found." Conductor said.

Grooves looked over and gasped. He put his flipper over his beak. He hadn't see that photo in so long.

"Conductor-oh darling. I hadn't see this in years." Grooves said.
"There's more. But this was what made me come here." Conductor explained.
"Do you remember when this was taken?"

Conductor froze. No, he didn't exactly remember. But he'd probably look like a idiot if he'd admit that.

"You don't, do you darling?" Grooves interrupted.
"I D-DO!" Conductor replied, his feathers puffed up.
"Clam yourself, this was taken right before we had our first ever scuffle, darling."

Conductor didn't really know how to respond. He slowly leaned to side, to get closer to Grooves until his head was resting on the penguin's shoulder.

"It's okay, darling. I accept your apology." Grooves answered.

Conductor felt a weight lifted off oh his wings. He felt Grooves wrap one of his arms around the owl's shoulders.

They said nothing, no words were needed. They both looked up at stars. To Dj Grooves, this was all he ever wanted again. And to Conductor, this was just the start of forming his friendship back with his best friend.
