It astounded you just how quickly the rest of the school term flew by once they dust had settled and normalcy, or at least relative normalcy, had returned to your lives.
Exams were well on their way and your grades were pretty much where you wanted them to be, luckily your experiment had been a success once you and Loki had talked the teacher round and managed to corroborate enough information and evidence to prove that you had indeed created some kind of insane time vortex.
No paradoxes had turned up, yet.
In fact, the last three months since the incident have been relatively peaceful beyond some stressful homework and exam cramming.
You watched as students passed the bench you were sat on, talking and laughing between themselves while heading out of the academy gates to start their weekends, whether that be partying or simply taking some alone time to read or play games or make up new contraptions to help in battle.
You weren't entirely sure what your plans were yet beyond that night, which was a movie night with tons of snacks and fizzy, drink yourself stupid, unhealthy goods.
Playing with the strap of your bag with your foot, you watched as Thor and Rocket wandered past, having some kind of intense debate about something probably completely menial but hilarious.
"Someone looks deep in thought."
You shuddered, eyes closing as arms wrapped around your waist and a chin was rested on your shoulder.
"Hmm, not really," you replied with a smile, resting your head against his.
"I see, I thought you might surprise me for once."
You rolled your eyes, hitting his shoulder with the back of your hand.
"Shut up, Loki."
He merely chuckled and pressed a quick kiss to your temple while you playfully ignored him, glad that he couldn't tell just how fluttery your stomach had gotten.
After your little adventure, you both had drifted closer.
He wasn't any less of an ass, but at least this time he teased you with affection and not purely because he was feeling malicious on that particular day.
The relationship hadn't started straight away either.
Upon returning home, you both kept your distance for two weeks to settle where your minds and emotions were in regard to your prospective future and how you felt about one another.
Halfway through the third week, you agreed to meet up on the Saturday to talk it out over a warm drink and some jam tarts, his decision.
From there, things started to progress faster than either of you had anticipated.
Four weeks flew by and you found yourselves settling into a routine of growing friendship.
In the mornings one of you would wait for the other outside their dorm house, sometimes bumping into each other as you were making your way there and from there you'd spend nearly every waking moment together, laughing, joking and helping one another with classes.
It didn't go unnoticed by others, though few chose to comment.
Amora would occasionally glare at you from across the room or Thor would make a suggestive comment, but you both ignored it and continued on until the tension grew to be too much and the tether snapped.
It had taken a month and five weeks after returning before you shared your first kiss as your original selves and the rest was history.
"Are you ready to go?" He asked, pulling away to step around to the front of the bench.
"As ready as I'll ever be," you nodded, picking up your bag and slinging it over your shoulder.
"Good, because I would kill for some of that popcorn you Midgardians love so much."
Loki turned to head towards your dorm building, his fingers laced behind his back as he strolled, you stepping into rhythm beside him with ease.
"Sure, it's us with the popcorn addiction."
"Of course, I'm a God, we don't succumb to such things."
You couldn't respond with more than a raised eyebrow and a scoffed laugh of disbelief.
Loki looked at you from the corner of his eyes with a cheeky smile, keeping you distracted long enough for you to not notice that he'd unlinked his hands and had reached for your own to take a light grasp on your fingers.
It wasn't overly affectionate, but it was enough to make you feel just a little giddy and you accepted the gesture wholeheartedly.
Perhaps the future you saw wasn't going to be the life you would lead.
Maybe your paths would separate in the near or distant future, no one could know for sure, but you head each other for the time being and that was more than enough.
