Seungmin woke up the next morning. He shut off his alarm and apathetically put on his clothes. He didn't have to hurry to meet Jeongin anymore. And that really, really hurt.
He groaned, heart aching for his best friend. It had been six days since the accident and he still couldn't get over it.
He exhaled as he drove to school. He met up with his group of friends. It wasn't the same now that there were only two of them.
Chan gave him a supportive pat on the back. "You okay?" He asked.
Seungmin nodded. Chan asked him that every day.
"We'll hang out later today, all three of us," Minho added, trying to make him feel better. They all knew Seungmin took Jeongin's death the hardest out of all of them.
Minho's words didn't help. Seungmin hated the sound of 'all three of us.' It was supposed to be four.
"Pass. I'll just go home," he said with a sigh. He waved a goodbye to his friends to walk early to his first class.
He usually came in late to class, and he found himself seeing different people on campus now that he was ten minutes early.
He went into one of the random buildings and into the bathroom to splash some water down his tired face.
He walked out of the building and as he walked down the steps, he noticed Hyunjin approaching him.
"Err, hi," the blond said with an awkward smile. He was with his friends and they knew Seungmin as the guy who had gotten on his knees in the middle of the campus.
"Hey," his voice unexpectedly came out as a hoarse whisper. He had been caught off guard by Hyunjin's sudden appearance.
After their awkward encounter near the park last night, he didn't know how to act around him.
"I, uh, didn't know you had class here," he managed to say.
"Well, erm, I do? And I hope you don't know my schedule..." Hyunjin's voice indicated a small hint of tension.
"I-I don't!" Seungmin defensively put up his hands. "I swear."
Hyunjin couldn't help but chuckle at his nervousness. He gave him a small smile. "I was kidding. I'm going to go to class now. See you."
Seungmin breathed a sigh of relief as the other man passed him and went through the doors. He could hear Hyunjin's friends giggling.
He felt his ears turn red in embarrassment. He had been so uncool. Of course he was kidding. Why hadn't he seen that when it was so obvious?
Hyunjin seemed to joke around a lot, after all.
But... he had been slightly surprised when Hyunjin smiled at him.
It was the first smile Hyunjin had given him in the three days they had spoken to each other.
It had been just a slight curve of his lips, but he saw it nonetheless. Compared to Jeongin, who smiled all the time, Hyunjin was so different.
To be continued...
