YOU'RE TELLING ME YOU HAD LUCA AND MITCHELLS VS THE FUCKING MACHINES, AND JUST BECAUSE OF POPULARITY AT THE TIME, ENCANTO WON. Okay. Okay. NOT RIGGED AT ALL, ACADEMY!
Cause, like, in all other respects, I'm happy for Encanto winning. It's a fantastic movie that deserves it's recognition. But that specific Oscar ceremony was HELLA rigged in Encanto's favor, cause I feel like they thought that was just what everyone was expecting. DID YOU EVEN ACTUALLY WATCH THE OTHER MOVIES AND THEN COMPARE THEM TO SEE WHICH ONE WAS BETTER??? I feel like Encanto still would've won, but let's think for a second.
In a world where Encanto was released to the public just a little later, let's say, early 2022, who do you think would've won? I wouldn't have been as ecstatic as I would've been now because my obsession with Luca didn't start until later, and I'm not sure I would've been ecstatic with Mitchells either because I was avoiding that movie out of the usual anxiety, but now? Right now, knowing what I know and loving both movies, I would have absolutely LOST IT if either of them won if Encanto came out later. I would've been screaming and jumping around like a maniac, because I truly love them! But now, whenever I remember Encanto's nomination, which is a movie I do deeply care about and love, I just become disappointed because it was so painfully obvious. It would've elated me to see Enrico Casarosa get an Oscar, but oh well. Maybe, in another timeline, where the Academy weren't so predictable in their choices. Idk.
