Fitz stayed quiet as we walked back to the auditorium. Sophie looked like she was about to ask Fitz a question but then a round of applause drowned out the question.

"Yes, yes, welcome back, Fitz, Sophie and Y/n. Glad to see you're feeling better," Sir Caton said, looking a teensy annoyed by the interruption. He tried to call everyone back to order, but Dex, Marella, Biana, and Keefe broke rank and rushed over to us.

Biana got there first and threw her arms around Fitz, hugging him so tight he winced. It would have been a touching moment if Keefe hadn't copied her and grabbed Fitz, pretending to cry. Ftiz shoved them both away, blushing.

"Beat by a Level Two," Keefe said, elbowing Fitz in the ribs. "It was a tie," Sophie protested. Keefe snorted. "Please. You totally kicked his butt."

"Totally," Dex agreed. "He hit the wall way harder than you did. That was the greatest present you could have given me, by the way," he whispered. I heard it though and let out a tiny laugh. Sophie shook her head at him. "Even the Mentors declared you the winner," Keefe added, wrapping an arm around my shoulders but still speaking to Sophie. "If you don't think you'll need your pardon, I'll be happy to take it off your hands—"

"Keefe! Dex! Marella! Biana! Need I remind you that you are not excused from this lesson?" Sir Caton yelled. "Think about it," Keefe said, he looked at me giving me the look of 'you good?' I nodded in response. Sophie raised an eyebrow at this looking confused. Keefe then ran to rejoin the class.

Sophie looked over to me. "Are you and Keefe dating?" I choked on air. "What?! no! It's not like that." "Really? then why are you two together all the time?" "We're just friends, I swear we are not dating." "Yet." Fitz pitched in. I made a 'I'll kill you face if you don't stop talking' to Fitz, but it didn't faze him in the slightest. "Biana's been shipping them since we were 8." "By the way, why aren't you and Biana friends?" he asked, unknowingly changing the subject. I let out a sigh of relief but I did kinda want to know why they aren't friends. "It seems like you guys would get along. You have a lot in common."

"I don't think she has time for another friend. She's always busy with Maruca." Fitz frowned.

Lady Alexine delivered Sophie her prize. (I'm too lazy to describe it.) "Any Level Two who holds her own against Fitz is the clear winner," she explained. "Congratulations, Sophie." "Thank you." Fitz grinned. (ew that sounds weird get out of here anger issues boy your giving off creepy vibes right now) "I couldn't agree more." But his smile faded after Lady Alexine left. "You really don't know what happened during the match?" "I . . . don't know. I do remember pushing some energy from my mind," she whispered, "but that couldn't have been a brain push, could it?"

"I'll have to ask my dad."

"Sophie asked a weird question today." After school I managed to drag Keefe over to my house so he could do his homework and not fail. "What did she ask?" He was lying on my bed while I was sitting at my desk trying to figure out the problem he was trying to solve. "She asked if we were dating." Perfectly timed he also choked. "Wait what?" He practically shouted. "That was my reaction except I was almost unable to form words, like what question is that."

"What did you say?" He asked me, "I told her that we're just friends. I mean what else am I supposed to say?" He looked a little sad at that but it quickly faded so I assumed it was my imagination. "You could have told her we were to see her reaction." He laughed. "Crap I should've actually done that, that would've been hilarious." I laughed too. "Ok, ok I think I figured this out." I started to explain the problem to Keefe who looked like he wanted to be anywhere but here.

After like two hours we were able to finish his homework. I looked at the time, "It's only 6:30 you can stay for dinner if you want." "Yes! I love Edaline's cooking." I laughed at his reaction. Someone knocked on my door. My dad and Sophie entered. My dad instantly looked at Keefe. "What's he doing here?" My dad said, raising his eyebrow, "Homework." We answered simultaneously. "Alright, dinners ready, I'm guessing Keefe's staying for dinner?" "Yep." I said.

After dinner I walked Keefe out of the house. "Are you gonna say thank you?" Keefe looked at me confused. "For what?" I made an offended face. "For helping you with your homework and feeding you food." "I was just joking." He laughed. "Thank you." I smiled. "You're welcome." "Now go shu shu." I said pushing him away. "I need sleep." Now he was the one to make an offended face. "No sweet goodbye. N/n I thought you loved me." I burst out laughing. "Alright bye Keefe, I'll see you tomorrow." "Much better." I watched as he leaped back to his house.
I went back inside to see Mom cleaning up. "Did Keefe like dinner?" I nodded. "He did." I helped clean up then headed up to my room.

I was drawing a Banshee when someone suddenly knocked on my door. "Come in." I said. Sophie came and sat on my bed which drew my attention away from my drawing and towards her. "So I know how you said that you and Keefe weren't dating but I keep on wondering."

"Do you like him?" I looked confused. "Of course I like him, he's my friend." Sophie depanded, "That's not what I meant, I meant do you have feelings for him."
"Yeah he annoys me sometimes."

Sophie looked like she wanted to murder me.

"I mean do you have romantic feelings for him?"

oh

Oh

OH THAT'S WHAT SHE MEANT

I felt my face warm up, I probably looked like a tomato.

"N-No I don't like him like that." "Y/n your face is as red as a tomato and you're stuttering." "That's because I didn't expect that!" "I guess that's what everyone meant by the first stage is denial." She let out a sigh of annoyance. "Just think about what I said."

Sophie left my room which led to me spiraling. Did I like Keefe? I mean I've known him since I was four I always thought of him as a—wait what did I think of him as. Whenever I tried to think of him as family like Dex, Fitz, and Biana it felt weird and It just felt like I couldn't. I hung out with him more than anyone else. I've always told him everything. I blushed whenever he flirted with me or said I looked pretty.

Oh my god what If she's right.

Do I like Keefe?
