Before you read the rest of this part, I want you to try to imagine these two getting married. I presume you think of a traditional wedding. A huge ceremony with dozens upon dozens of family, friends, and guests all coming together to watch the lovely pair get wed with one of them looking like an angel dressing in a big floofy white ball-gown and the other looking like a quaint gentleman wearing a sleek black and white suit. There would be a towering cake with two figurines at the highest tier, expensive glasses of wine and champagne all raised in a toast, and a kiss shared at the alter after the announcement of the couple being spouse and spouse.

I want you to throw that ideology out the window. Because despite Template’s sappy cheesiness and how much he liked scenarios like those, this is going to be something different.

A pair of arms slipped themselves around Template’s, their face resting themselves against his shoulder as he looked up at him with the magic in the eyes having had dimmed down from a bright gold of sunshine into a fainter tint of a pale yellow of a harvest moon like the one up in the dark sky right at this moment. Diamond-like specs in the sky so amazingly luminous, very satisfactory and suited perfectly for tonight. Pale gave him a congenial smile.

“How long are we going to walk for?” Pale asked him, the tone of his voice so soft-spoken. Magic bundled at Template’s cheeks, moving his focus away from him to continue looking onward.

“Just wait, Pale, we’re almost there!” he assured, looking over and seeing where he intended on going to. He grinned at the area before he led them over to the area.

It was like a park, a vast field of green excellent for playing sports, social events, and (in this instance) to elope, which glowed dimly with little lightning bugs slow dancing in the sky with their bioluminescence lights. The only thing ever installed into this domain was a wooden bench, which worked great in their favor and it has already been predetermined to be where they both would go. Pale let Template’s arm free although he still kept a firm hold on his hand, guiding his fiancé through the meadow and to the seat.

     They both sat down together.

Template felt the dizzying and dazing sensation of his soul fluttering against his chest, plus seeing Pale looking at him with the same dreamy look in his eyes, most certainly fantasizing over his husband-to-be. His soul couldn’t stop knocking against his ribcage and begged in whispers to show itself, a feeling calling itself nervousness filled his senses and let the manifestations of that effect him. Face frozen, cheeks warm, palms sweaty, for a moment he forgot what he was supposed to do.

“I… I…” Template mumbled out, his voice stuck in his throat as he attempted to function properly. “You said you wanted to give me something before we do this?” he finally questioned, speaking the first thing that came up in mind that seemed appropriate for the situation. Pale nodded, digging into his pocket and pulling out a folded piece of notebook paper, giving it over to him. Template looked at the paper with piqued curiosity.

“Read it!” Pale urged him, resting his head against his shoulder and peering up at him and gauging his reaction. Template gave him a questionable look but knew nothing bad could ever come out of this. Nothing could. He unfolded the paper and read the contents inside.

‘To my supposed rival, my first love, and my only friend,

I know I am not the easiest to love or the easiest to live and deal with at times, but I am considered lucky to have you give me the time of day and receive the baffling amount of love you shower on me on a day-to-day basis. If I could feel as much as anyone else, I would give you the world you deserve.

I knew from the moment I saw you that the life I had been so used to would change drastically, but I don’t think either of us expected something like this. Then again, our love is a very weird one. No love at first sight, no ‘Will-they, won’t they’, I just told you one day about how you effected me no matter how I felt and things just bloomed since then. My loyalty to you is one given freely if you give return the same gladly, unquestionably, and without a moment or hint of hesitation. I am yours completely and probably has been since the instant you stumbled across me when you did. You have and will always be the only person I pledge to devote myself to.

From this moment on, I vow to do my hardest to not be behind, but instead beside you. I vow to walk with you, hand-in-hand, and keep walking through whatever life decides to give us; from rich and fame to humiliating and left with nothing, from health and full of enthusiasm to horribly bedridden, from completely void of emotion to filled with passion whether positive or negative. I promise you that I will do this until the day I lay my head against your chest and no longer hear its beat.

Words truly can’t describe how you made my life the way it now, but I hope this shows you how much I’m willing to do.

- Pale’

Template was colored quite a striking blue, a hand reaching over to his scarf to cover his face in the only bluer that could hide him. He kept his eyes unveiled though, the lights in his sockets reading and rereading the handwriting produced from the ink of Pale’s magic on the piece of paper. He was not only flattered of everything written within but was also caught off guard as he didn’t assume they were going to exchange vows. Pale couldn’t resist a humble giggle from his response.

“H-How did you manage to write this?” Pale beamed up at him.

“With determination and some extra free time,” he answered in a happy little laugh, his eyes still twinkling as he kept his entire focus on the blue Template. The former took a breath of courage before turning to the other, setting the note down and taking Pale’s hands in his. The feeling of being struck dumb was still affecting him, he emphatically swallowed it down though to free his voice.

“W-Well… I am luckier than you, you already give me the world. You have known me and know all of my flaws. You have seen me when I wasn’t my best, or even at some of my worsts even in some moments. But you know what, you managed to see those moments and look past them and you always came back. You could hate my existence for a whole week, you may become depressed and inactive for what seems like years while curling up in our sheets and cry yourself to sleep, even when you are emotionless with almost no wants or desires or anything to push you to tolerate my antics, and yet you break all expectations and voluntarily stay with me. I’m grateful for having you around.” Template let go of one of Pale’s hands, digging into his hand into his pocket and pulling out two matching rings. “And with these, I wish to let this symbolize how I am willing to sacrifice to protect you, defend you, and be by your side for as long I live. I love you to the moon and back and although we already went through a lot of milestones together, I know I am already excited for whatever life decides to toss at us.” Template held one ring at his fingers, keeping the other pressed against his palm. Pale was staring at him, holding a genuine look of tenderness as he allowed Template to slip the ring on his third finger. He examined the added accessory, letting it glisten and glimmer in the moonlight.

It wasn’t a diamond ring, instead, it was a pale blue sapphire one. A little heart-shaped light blue gemstone attached to a silver ring. It was pretty simple, but it unmistakably fit Pale both in fashion and quite literally. Template took his hand, placing a kiss on the ring before handing him a second ring to put on him. It was just a simple wedding band with the same silver as the other ring. Again, simple, but it was simple for a reason. Template glanced away from Pale, offering his hand over him and letting Pale sip the ring onto him. He was a bit confused at first because the ring was a bit too small for a Template’s hand. Then it clicked.

“You want me to take off your glove?” Template looked away from Pale a bit more, blushing as he was momentarily silent. He soon nodded his head. Pale giggled sweetly before going over to Template’s glove and taking it off, slipping the ring on and repeating what Template had done to him by placing a small peck on the silver band. He held the hand close, his finger lightly tracing over the ring before the soft buzzing of pixels caught his attention. Pale laughed a bit. “Oops,” was all that left his lips, slipping the glove back on quickly before Template took his hand back, rubbing circles into his ring finger.

Pale took the blue scarf around Template and tugged at it lightly, getting him to lean close to him mere inches of space.

“So, are we married?” Pale asked in an oddly innocent way. Template cracked a grin, letting a soft laugh leave him as he held Pale’s face and the space between them started to close.

“Of course, my sweet husband~” Their face soon collide, their lips sweetly placing themselves against one another as if it was second nature, just something that seemed so natural. Their hands seemed to have the same instincts, sliding down from the face and necks to around their backs and waist. They were pulling each other close and leaving little room until Template pressed Pale down back against the bench. They parted from that soon after that with Template pulling away and looking down at his newlywed husband, seeing the color in his eyes fading out. Template could only frown knowing the moment was going to end soon, and knowing that Pale would go back to feeling nothing, he decided to savor what time he had left.

He laid down beside him, a bittersweet grin spreading on his face as he held Pale close and just looked at him. Fireflies danced in the sky, the stars sparkled like never before, the moonlight seemed to be directed right at them, and all Template wanted to do was to keep gazing at Pale. His fingers twirled themselves around the faded ribbon tied around Pale’s arms and Pale had since then wrapped a bit of Template’s scarf around himself as the last hint of joy left his system. But before Pale could do so much as to adjust to his lack of feelings, Template unraveled his hand from Pale’s ribbon, cupping his cheek while Template kept a bittersweet expression and giving him a pleading look.

“Please, just keep smiling. Just for a little longer…”

And Pale did, for just a little longer.
