Chapter Nine
The Tragedy
~ Y/N P.O.V ~
-----------------------------------------
What felt like hours were only minutes passing by. My chest was still sore and I couldn't help but think about everything that has happened.
So many things happened. It wasn't expected at all. I mean, I'm just an ordinary student after all...
I felt a really bad feeling in my stomach as I watched Shido get some medications.
"Here," he said, handing me a pill and a glass of water. "It's so you won't feel any pain."
"Thank you Shido," I responded, taking the glass and pill from him. "I didn't really expect anything like that to happen... at all..."
Shido nodded and sighed, sitting on the side of my bed. "We will save Kurumi, no matter what it takes."
Shido looked like he was deep in his own thoughts.
"She's my friend, I want her to be happy..." I stated, and that was the truth. Kurumi is my childhood friend, she was someone who accepted me. The Kurumi that I just saw, that couldn't be her.
Shido smiled. "I guess we want the same things then..."
I agreed, seeing Shido stand up.
"It's time for me to go now. Stay in bed for now, we don't want anything happening to you." Shido reminded me that I was shot. Shot by Kurumi, my best friend.
When Shido walked out of the room, I tried to stop thinking about it. The more I enveloped my thoughts into that particular time, it hurt my chest even more.
Taking the pill, drinking the water, I felt somewhat drowsy. I was losing consciousness, that was for sure. I couldn't take it, and soon, I fell into slumber.

Seeing Miza lying there so vulnerable was frightening. Knowing that a spirit like Nightmare could just break into here so easily...
I couldn't take it at all.
I kissed Miza on the cheek. She twitched a little bit thinking she might've gained consciousness. But that was not the case, because I knew she was going to be unconscious for a while.
I left her hospital room straight after that, heading down a stairway before leaving completely.
Glancing at the receptionist, I walked up to her. I knew she was tired of me visiting Miza a lot but I couldn't help it. She was my own daughter. Just a few days ago, she was almost killed by my son.
Everything up until now was horrible.
How pitiful am I?

~Flashback: Years Ago~
This was back when Miza wasn't even born yet, I was close to getting pregnant though. With the one I truly loved.
Haru
"Dana!" Haru's yelling was heard from downstairs, I was cleaning up the house, almost finished with the upstairs part.
"Yes honey?" I responded, stopping my vacuum cleaner so that I could hear her better.
"I don't know what to do..." Haru spoke, his voice lowering.
"Huh? What do you mean?" I asked, yelling. A bit confused, I placed the vacuum against the wall, rushing down the stairs. I thought that it was a delivery since I ordered some supplies for my job, I worked at a bakery at the time.
But it was something way worse...
I saw a baby crying on our doorstep, inside a small basket. Unsure of what to do, I looked at Haru and back down to the baby.
"W-Who's baby is this?" I gasped, shocked by what I was seeing. I wasn't expecting this at all.
"I-I don't know!" Haru responded, he looked just as shocked as I was.
I'm not gonna lie either, I was frightened at the same time.
Haru knelt down to the baby, seeing a small piece of paper which was sticking out behind the baby's head.
"A name tag?" I asked as Haru showed it to me.
"More than just a name tag," Haru said. Before I could reach my hand out to grab the "name tag", Haru let out the squeakiest scream I've ever heard a boy had.
"H-Haru?!" I shouted in concern. Realising what happened, I saw that the "name tag" had a lot of stains on it.
Blood stains
"What the..." I stared, my jaw wide open.
"This is serious!" Haru was huffing and puffing, grabbing the basket which had the baby in it, taking it inside.
"Wait! Haru!" I squealed in terror. "A-Are you sure that's a good idea?"
Haru nodded. "I read it..." Haru said, worried. "We have to do this Dana..."
I didn't know what else to do. I ended up agreeing with his idea.
After three years of raising this child, a tragedy came. A tragedy I would've never expected.
Being a pregnant woman at this time, we were both living happily. We were going to have two children, except one wasn't from me but a mysterious person.
I couldn't believe it. This is what I wanted at the time. A happy family. But of course, that wasn't going to happen.
One day, I got the job of being a board member of an infamous company; Deus Ex Machina Industries, in other words; DEM.
Y/N was around 10 years old now, theoretically and Miza was 7. We were such a happy family...
But Y/N ruined it!
Being accepted into DEM, Y/N pulled off a stunt that I would never forget. The tragedy that changed my life forever...
He turned into a monster! An absolute monster!
He attacked the building of DEM, as soon as I got off work. He killed hundreds of people. He went nutcase, insane!
He definitely caused a big scene and the second most atrocious spacial quake in human history.
After attacking DEM, he went and attacked the place that Haru worked at. Killing many civilians and passerby's... he killed Haru.
His reason for doing this was unknown. At the time, I didn't know about his rampage. Until I saw it on the news and getting calls from the local hospital.
It was an event that I would never forget. So much death, it was so overwhelming.
Miza and I were home but Y/N wasn't here yet.
When he did return, his eyes were red, glowing. Just like a demon.
He admitted to his sins.
"I killed father, attacked DEM. I did this all to keep you safe mama..."
Those words were so clear. After hearing such thing, I couldn't believe it. But at the same time, I knew that this would happen. So many emotions were circulating through me.
"Bro!" Miza squealed. "What do you mean?!"
Miza rushed up to him. He was holding a strange looking crystal.
"It's time for Miza to be like me," he spoke.
Before I knew it, Miza started glowing and the crystal merged into her. My eyes widened and I screamed, pushing Y/N away from Miza.
"Get away from my daughter!" I shrieked in terror. "I hate you I hate you-"
"I HATE YOU!"
~ Flashback End ~
He ruined my life so easily. But yet... I still let him live in my own house.
I guess I really am a weakling after all...
