*Joel's POV*

Amelia leaving without telling us, caused panic and anxiety. I kept calling her and texting but no respond but I still continue to as if she was going to pick up every time I tried.

When we were waiting for her to show up to our house, I couldn't think. I had questions running through my mind. I was hurt and angry that she didn't trust me. I'm her best friend, I've been there for her and she still didn't trust me.

I was staring up at the ceiling of my room in search for answers to my questions but all I saw were the glow in the dark stars. "Why couldn't you trust me?" I whispered to myself. "Why did you cause me so much pain?" "Who could blame you? You were in pain" I said realizing she had every right of what she did.

I took a deep breathe and put my hands behind my head and stood there wondering what she was thinking that night.

The next morning, I went over to her place and noticed everything was in place, untouched. Not finding her anywhere in the house, it was like a nightmare. My world crumbled. I couldn't believe she just left with no explanation. The next hours were stressful for my family and I. I also remember looking out at her backyard, and the tree with the treehouse. The tree that seemed to never stop blooming, that day it had no leaf or flower on it. It was strange since it was always full of flowers and alive all year long.

"The tree!" I said getting up and running to the backyard. I hadn't seen it since Amelia got here. I opened the door gate that separated our houses and stared at the tree. The flowers and leaves started to bloom again. It wasn't completely covered.

"Was it dead when I was gone?" I heard Amelia say behind me.

"Yeah." I said admiring the tree and treehouse. "It's like it has feelings" I chuckle.

"That night when I found out about my parents," she placed her chin on top of my shoulder and stared at the tree. "it was loosing some flowers. It looked half dead too. Like right now."

"Do you think that's a sign?" I asked looking down at her. She shook her head and smiled. "That's crazy Joel."

She intertwined her hand with mine and smiled up at me. She looked so beautiful and having our hands intertwined, made the butterflies go wild.

"You're special to me." She stared into my eyes. "I'm very lucky."

I kissed the top of her forehead and brought her into a hug. "You're special to me too. More than you can imagine." I said whispering the last part to myself.

"That's why I came back. I couldn't leave behind the person I love." She said. I looked down at her as her eyes widen.

She stepped back and looked down. "I-I'm sorry. I don't know why I said that." I stood there speechless but smiling at her cuteness and laughed.

"Joel stop laughing!" She said covering her face in embarrassment. "That's not funny."

"I'm laughing at how red you got." I said smiling. "I love you too Amelia. Ever since we were little kids."

She turned more red and looked away. "Don't look or laugh at me."

"Alright I won't." I couldn't help it but smile so big.

This felt right and I didn't want this moment to end no matter how embarrassed she was.
