the three teens. By the harsh breaths they were taking, Jaylene automatically realized that something was wrong. Especially since they hadn't come out through the front door.

"What's going on?" Pope worriedly questioned the two panicked girls as he knit his eyebrows together in confusion.

"Mrs. Crain! She's up there!" Kiara struggled to catch her breath as she looked at the three. "She tried to kill us with a fire poker."

Jaylene's eyes widened in surprise. She always had her suspicions about Mrs. Crain, but she never expected them to be true. "Where is she now?"

"We locked her in the parlor, but we gotta go!" Sarah shouted, her hands placed on her knees as she looked up at Jaylene, extremely startled with the experience she'd just gone through.

"Okay, that's code red!" JJ began to panic as well, motioning for the two girls to help him and Pope. "You two, help us pull John B. up. Jaylene, make sure he actually comes back up." He instructed, receiving a nod in return as Jaylene kneeled down, her fear of heights becoming non-existent in that moment as she moved the bright beam all throughout the brick walls. No sight of John B. anywhere.

When the four teenagers by the rope fell to the ground, they shared confused glances before huddling around the brick walls, looking down at the well as they searched for their friend. All they could hear were inaudible words that John B. shouted.

And when they weren't able to make out what he was saying, they automatically assumed that he was drowning, so they began tugging at the rope again. This time, John B. was actually participating.

When Jaylene saw that he was fine, a relieved sigh escaped from her lips, but that smile quickly faltered when a loud gunshot was heard, causing her to duck down as the flashlight fell from her grasp and down into the well. "Oh, shit!" Jaylene shouted, quickly standing to her feet and walking towards the rope to help pull the boy back up, but she quickly placed her hands over her head when more gunshots where heard. Her blood instantly ran cold when she saw Mrs. Crain. And when she noticed the haunting glass eyes, it hit her. The woman was blind.

"C'mon! We gotta get the hell out of here!" Sarah laced their fingers together, not giving the girl the chance to even think before pulling her towards the cement stairs.

As Jaylene ran up the stairs, a wave of adrenaline shot throughout her body. Her bare legs brushed against the branches in the hideous garden, but she didn't even feel the scratches that were viciously placed onto her porcelain skin as she quickly let go of Sarah's hand, using every ounce of strength to pull herself over the fence and in the direction of van that was parked nearby.

"Oh, my god!" Sarah brushed the sweat off of her forehead as she looked towards Kiara and Jaylene.

"Why are we always getting shot at?" Jaylene heard Pope shout as the Heyward boy made his way into the van, while JJ hopped into the drivers seat, starting it up.

"Where is he? Is he okay?" Jaylene looked around, referring to John B., who she'd completely forgotten about until now.

Before anyone could reply, the Routledge boy hopped the fence, rushing towards the van before jumping in, sliding the door shut as he loudly panted, clearly out of breath.

In that moment, every ounce of stress quickly left everyone's shoulders as they all let out relieved sighs.

"Is everyone okay?" JJ questioned all of them, giving them a brief glance before turning his attention back towards the road. "Is anyone shot?"

"I think I'd know if I was shot, right?" Kiara was the first to reply, looking herself up and down for any sign of a gunshot wound.

Jaylene let out a loud chuckle as she ran a hand through her hair, taking the time to look over at John B., which caused her eyes to widen as she scrunched her nose up in disgust at the horrible stench that trailed up her nostrils. "Mrs. Crain really is a psychotic bitch."

Kiara nodded in agreement, her heart pounding rapidly at the events that had just occurred. "That bitch is possessed."

"That bitch can't aim." Sarah added.

As everyone continued to talk about everything that had just happened, Jaylene shifted her attention towards John B., who was covered in mud with a horrendous stench lingering from his dirty body.

"Are you okay?" She questioned, watching as he pulled something out of his pockets. When he wiped the mud off of it, her eyes widened in shock. Her mouth formed into an 'o' shape as she stared at the object in his hand. He found it. He found the Royal Merchant gold that hundreds of people had searched for. "You're fucking kidding me!" She exclaimed, causing everyone to look over at her before they looked towards John B., shocks looks forming on their faces when they realized what was in his grasp.

And that's when everyone erupted into a fit of cheers. Even though Jaylene didn't want any sort of cut, she was still extremely happy everyone would finally be able to make it out of the Southside. They'd finally be able to live a life where money wouldn't be a problem. That's assuming that everything ran smoothly after that night.

authors note. I wanted to post this chapter sooner, but the whole breach on Wattpad happened and I got logged out of my account for an entire day, so that just sent me into panic mode. And to make matters worse, none of my drafts were saving which made the whole situation even more frustrating, but I'm back!
