It was midnight when he strutted off to his room. Divesting of his cape and sword his shrugged out of his jacket before undoing the buttons of his cuffs.

He sighed heavily, dropping his head down with exhaustion. The aristocrat had taken on more work recently to keep busy and avoid Kate at work.

After seeing her decision making regarding their lives he simply decided to keep a distance to figure everything out.

They usually left and arrived together but he began taking his own carriage.

He'd spend time with her talking about work and their day before retiring to his own connecting room.

Seeing as it was a political alliance they never shared a bedroom and instead had connecting doors to their rooms that were next to each other.

"Are you okay? You were later than usual." Kate's voice sounded behind him.

Turning to face her, he tugged his hair tie free, letting his curly red hair loose.

"Yeah. I was with Lord Johannes. Been busy with preparing his case this entire week. Catherine's almost fully recovered so we'll be proceeding with the case tomorrow." He sighed, sitting down on his bed.

He fell back on the bed throwing his hands up with a tired groan.

"We sent an official notice to Johnsen Berg but he seems to have gone missing. So we dispatched the special force police to locate him. Uhhg what a tiring day..." He moaned exhaustedly.

Kate took a step forward, placing a palm on the banister at the foot of his bed.

"I am sorry... Henrique. I should have been more clear in my communicating." She said softly.

He folded his hands under his head and turned his face to the side to look at his wife.

"Thinking back now, it was a good decision as an agent but a terrible decision as a wife and lady to the Lorca clan. As a woman I should be more softer and considerate to my family when making decisions. I see now why you were upset." Kate spoke in a soft measured tone that reflected regret.

"During the Pendulum case you chose our kids over staking everything for the sake of work." She added, voice trembling with emotion.

Henrique remained silent, his gaze fixed on hers with a straight face. His chest rising and falling evenly despite the look of disappointment.

"You always seem to evade the question of whether or not I am a good enough spouse. I can't undo or help that I am your husband." He said in a hard voice.

"That's not it-"

"I am really tired of trying to make this work. We're tied together in matrimony so if you would, could you try to be more supportive?" He asked.

Not waiting for her reply he pushed up to a sitting position, unfastening his boots before padding off to his bathroom.

"Oh yeah, before I forget. I need you at the trial tomorrow. It's at noon." He said, re-emerging into his room. He unbuttoned his shirt distractedly getting ready for his bathe, while talking to her.

Kate simply nodded, watching him with a tight squirm. Walking back into the bathroom he left her with slightly pink tinted cheeks.

Dali has a love interest 💃 and things are finally moving with Dino.
