Alora glanced from Bonnie to Tyler. That surprisingly explained quite a lot. "Yeah! I met your mom the first night I was here, but then again, I think I already told you that, maybe," Alora paused. "Sorry, I'm a bit scatterbrained."
"You met my mom?" Tyler questioned.
Alora couldn't tell if that was a good or bad tone in his voice.
"I did," Alora nodded. "She seemed friendly, very smiley."
Best description available.
Tyler nodded, agreeing with her evaluation of his mom.
"Caroline's mom is the Sheriff," Bonnie continued.
Alora nodded, looking at the bubbly blonde that she had met at the party. It also explained a lot. The judgmental behavior when she first met someone, already having made a base call. Then there was the constant need to be perfect, not thinking she could live up to the standards that her mom had set.
"And Matt's family helped create the bell tower."
Alora looked over to see what Bonnie had pointed at before looking back at the group.
"What about your family?" Caroline interrupted.
"Caroline..." Bonnie tried to stop the question when she noticed Alora shift on her feet.
"Uh, my dad's a writer. I have a pet cat," Alora shrugged. There truly wasn't much to tell about her family. There was nothing interesting there...well, nothing that she could tell them or anyone for that matter.
"What about you mom?" Caroline then questioned.
Alora froze for a moment.
"Not in the picture," She replied, simply. It was the best phrasing she could give. The other version consisted of some very not nice things to say.
"Damn..." Tyler muttered under his breath. He then noticed one of his other friends from the football team walk by. He decided to use their sudden appearance as a great way to leave the conversation before it took an even worse turn. He gave Alora a slight nod and then got up and left.
"How's Vicki doing?"
"She's good," Matt appreciated the concern. "They released her from the hospital earlier today."
Alora shoved her hands in her pockets, "Do they know what kind of animal attacked her?"
'Animal attack'
It's what the headlines said over the news.
But how many animal attacks could one town believe?
"Said it must have been a cougar or something," Matt rubbed the back of his neck. "But it doesn't seem right."
A cougar that bites into someone's neck and leaves behind no claw marks on the rest of the body?
Sure.
That made sense.
Totally.
"A cougar?" Bonnie sounded equally as confused as everyone else. "Since when were they living in Mystic Falls?"
Matt shrugged, "I'm going to go check in on her. It was nice to see you again."
He then walked off.
It was so close to being just Alora and Bonnie, but it wasn't like Alora minded being around Caroline. Well, as long as the blonde didn't make a comment like she did at the party.
"I thought Jenna wasn't coming to this event," Caroline randomly commented.
Bonnie turned to Caroline, "She wasn't."
Alora then looked to see who Caroline and Bonnie were staring at. She saw a young strawberry blonde, who looked to be roughly in her middle or late twenties. Her eyes then drifted over to see who she was talking to, only to see her father.
Figures.
"Jenna is Elena's aunt," Caroline clued Alora in. "She took up custody of Elena and Jeremy after their parents died."
Was that news that Caroline was supposed to share?
Probably not.
"Oh..." Alora trailed off.
"Who's she talking to?" Bonnie questioned.
Caroline tilted her head and then looked to Alora, "He kind of looks like you."
"Care's right. He does," Bonnie agreed.
"Is he like an older brother or something?"
"Something like that," Alora replied.
Alora watched as Jenna laughed at something her father said. Her father had one of his charming smiles on his face and was clearly enjoying the conversation that he was engaging in. That bit was surprising, seeing as he normally hated talking to people.
"Come on, we should catch up with everyone else," Bonnie announced
Caroline and Bonnie began to walk away; Alora was unsure if she was included in that invite. Bonnie stopped and walked back to where Alora was standing.
"Are you coming or what?" Bonnie grabbed Alora's hand and led her back to where Caroline was before they continued walking to Mystic Grill.
The entire time, Alora stared down at Bonnie's hand that was connected with hers.
When they got into the Mystic Grill, the group of three met with Elena and the others that were in there. Alora found it all very cliquey, but then again, it might have been how regular friends functionedβshe had never been given the experience due to how much they moved around.
"Hey, has anyone seen Vicki?"
A boy that Alora didn't know approached the table they were all gathered around. He looked like the youngest out of the people she had met. He also looked faintly like Elena and Jenna. From the dilated pupils to the way he carried himself, Alora assumed this was Elena's stoner brotherβCaroline's words not hers.
Jeremy.
What was his interest in Vicki?
"You're her stalker. You tell us," Tyler retorted.
Alora hadn't seen him like this before. He was acting like the asshole everyone told her about. It definitely shed a new light on him.
"I can't find her."
Jeremy founded genuinely worried.
"She probably found somebody else to party with," Tyler once again took a dig at the younger boy. "Sorry, pill pusher, I guess you've been replaced."
"What's with the pill pusher?"
"Ask him."
Elena whipped her head around to where her brother was standing, "Are you dealing?"
Alora really felt like she was intruding. She was learning way too much about people that she had basically just met.
Jeremy never answered and continued to glare at Tyler.
"She's never gonna go for you."
"She already did. Over and over and over again."
Tyler scoffed, "Yeah, right."
Caroline was unable to keep her thoughts about what was happening. She addressed Jeremy, "You slept with Vicki Donovan? I mean, Vicki Donovan slept with you?"
"There's no way."
"And I didn't even have to force her into it," Jeremy retorted.
Oh, shit.
Tyler was a real dick.
Damn.
"What the hell is he talking about, Ty?"
"Nothing. Man, just ignore him, he's a punk," Tyler brushed off Matt's question.
"You know what, how about all of you shut up and help me find my sister?" Matt was done with all of them.
"We'll check the back," Bonnie told Matt, meaning her and Alora.
"Thanks," Matt told both of them, sincerely. "I'll check the back."
"Come on," Bonnie whispered to Alora before the two of them walked out of the Mystic Grill.
Once they got outside, Alora immediately looked for her father. When she saw him, he was talking to someone else, and this time, he looked very annoyed compared to how he looked before.
"Do you believe in witches?"
Alora paused at Bonnie's question as they continued to look for Vicki.
"I believe in magic."
"That's not the question I asked."
"Isn't it though?" Alora teased. "Look, witches supposedly have magic, but the only evidential proof of witches is circumstantial based on the lore."
"But you said you believed in magic?" Bonnie questioned, not understanding.
"Magic. It's not directly tied to being a witch. For instance, celestial events, such as the comet can be channeled for power. People believe it can bring luck, good fortune, but others believe it brings death, mayhem."
"Also, children believe in magic when they think of their fairy tales. None of that is remotely possible, but they believe in it. Besides, it makes it more fun, don't you think?"
Alora normally had such better explanations for everything.
"Why were you asking?"
"Just my Grams," Bonnie told her. "Says we have a lineage of witches. That we come from Salem."
"Do you believe her?"
"I don't know," Bonnie shrugged. "You seemed into all of that, attuned with nature, so I thought you might have a better answer."
Her answer would have been better if she wasn't trying to hide the fact that she was a witch.
"But that's besides the point," Bonnie switched up. "We aren't getting anywhere finding Vicki. Maybe we should split up. You take that half, I take this one."
"Sure," Alora nodded, going off in the direction.
Now that she was alone, Alora took the liberty of using magic to help find Vicki. She didn't have any blood for a locator spell, which was a bit of a blow, seeing as it was what she normally resorted to. Instead, she opted for following the chill she got whenever she was around a vampire.
Call it witchy intuition.
It ended up leading Alora to a building before it disappeared completely.
Damn.
Alora looked around the place, continuing to walk around the area surrounding the building before she ran into Vicki, who was accompanied by Stefan.
Peculiar.
"Hey," Stefan greeted her. "Can you take her?"
"Oh, um, sure," Alora stumbled out. The random run-ins that she was having with the vampire were becoming rather strangeβtoo strange for her liking.
"Hey, Vicki," She greeted the girl, who still looked out of it as she leaned against Alora. "Are you okay?"
Vicki looked up at her with a lazy, lopsided grin, "Totally, babe. I took some pills and got lost."
Alora nodded before she looked up to say something to Stefan, only to see that he was no longer there.
Of course.
"Thanks for saving me," Vicki mumbled and Alora wrapped her arm around the older girl's shoulders, helping her walk back to the Mystic Grill where Matt should be.
"Stefan found you."
Vicki looked awfully confused. Her eyebrows furrowed together and she pursed her lips. "Who's Stefan?" She questioned. "You found me on the floor and got worried that I ripped my stitches."
"Whβ"
Compulsion.
Damn vampires.
"No one," Alora lied in response. "Let's get you to your brother, yeah?"
Vicki lazily nodded.
"You smell nice."
"Thank you?" Alora replied. This was the oddest encounter she had in a very long time.
When they got back to the Mystic Grill, Matt was the first one to see the pair. He immediately rushed over to them; Alora handed over Vicki to him.
"Thanks," He breathed out, relieved to see his sister was okay.
"No worries," Alora gave him a smile.
"Mattie," Vicki drawled. "She's saved me twice now."
"Yeah, Vick. She has," Matt agreed, helping Vicki to one of the booths so he could apply another bandage to her neck.
"She's my savior...like one of those guardian angels," Vicki continued before she blew a kiss to Alora, who had been watching the exchange.
Alora gave a slight wave to Vicki.
God, this night had been strange.
And to think she was originally going to have spent it with her father.

a/n: hello lovelies:) did this take me four days to write? yes. do i like how it turned out? no. do i kind of want to quit writing this book? debatable.
it's so hard to write a story when the love interest is literally barely mentioned. like trying to write this is putting into perspective how little screen time bonnie was given that didn't revolve around elena ( no hate to elena, at least not s1 elena )
anwyays, i have been really thinking about quitting this story, but I think it's just the beginning of it that is annoying to write and i don't really want to to deal with it yk. like i'm trying to integrate her into the friend group, which is sort of difficult bc it isn't realistic for them to trust her right away.
but for now, i will continue with this story and see where it goes from there bc i am looking forward to writing the later seasons.
alora and bonnie will have a friendship first and then basically be in a relationship without them ever really realizing it for a bit.
also, trying to write an actual authorities figure is a struggle. like how does one write a cool father without making him sound like a teenager himself. hopefully, i end up doing him justice.
jenna and dean? someone messaged me saying it would be a good idea, but a lot of the storyline banks on the relationship between jenna and alaric. opinions?
what do we think so far?
please don't be a silent reader. vote and comment.
stay safe and love you lots<333
