I didn't even sense the demon, but only for the last few seconds......
"Yes! Yes! Hashira!" The Demon utters out, licking my blood from his thumb when he attempted his attack on me. His piercing crimson eyes were wide, crazed and filled with such blood thirst for a fight. "Finally! Something worthy to feast upon! You two are no mat--!!!!!"
"Tch enough spouting bullshit!" Sanemi cuts the demon off, before lunging towards the demon without wasting a moment. Assuming by Sanemi's frontal and sudden attack, we would have this mission finished in seconds. However the moment his blade swipes horizontally towards the neck, the demon disappears from his spot. "What th--"
Presence appears behind me feeling sharp nails graze my throat, before I swiftly bend down turning around and drew my blade.
"Dragon breathing! Second form: Dragon Dance!" Slicing vertically towards his throat, but only managed to slice his arm from the elbow down. Blood sprays from the attack, before he jumps back in sudden surprise choking on his air. He staggers with surprise, as if he underestimated me from the beginning. Stepping my foot forward I lower my body, "Dragon breathing! First form: Water Tail Whip!!!"
Sanemi charges from behind me, as I zig zag making my movements unpredictable while we draw closer to the demon.
While Sanemi covers my flank from the right, I take this chance for the wide opening to attack him now. While channeling all my strength from my knees to my arms, I swung my blade with powerful force feeling my adrenaline spike my heart rate. Slashing across his torso horizontally, I allowed Sanemi to take his chance to cut off his neck. The demon was panicking for a moment as his eyes widen feeling the shock when slicing him in half, before pulling back for Sanemi to finish off the demon.
Just before the tip of the blade touches the flesh, the earth suddenly rumbles before feeling the wind knock from my lungs.
Eyes widening from the lack of air I lost from both breathing forms, I found my body flying in the air only to find a scattered clumps of sharp rocks. Sanemi was taken back only for him to dodge it, before growling in irritation seeing the body of the demon crumble into earth. My breath inhales sharply trying to detect the demon again, realising we're fighting against a demon that can manipulate the earth.
"Surprise bitch!!!!!!" a cackle follows.
Lifting my head up, I suddenly felt a powerful punch directed into my spine, before my body hits the ground causing the earth to crumble beneath me. The dust accumulates around me, while I try to register what had just happened only thanking that I wasn't slammed into the spikes of rock beneath me. Pushing myself up ignoring the tight throbbing sensation against my spine, I manage to roll out of the way when he attacks again.
Grabbing my blade I jump towards the Demon, noticing Sanemi charging towards him again from behind.
Sanemi was powerfully stronger than myself, and this demon was no threat to Sanemi's capabilities whatsoever. His endurance and speed was beyond inhuman, realising how far he's some since we first met. A gust of wind spirals around him as he raises his blade towards the moon then down, "Wind breathing! Fourth form: Rising Dust Storm!"
The demon was caught within Sanemi's gust of wind, spiralling around blocking his every escape route before his limbs were sliced off clean. "You bastard!"
Realising what he was doing finally registers, as he cut all the limbs to perform any kind of demon art. Taking this chance without delaying, I inhale deeply, "Dragon Breathing! Third form: Dragon's eye slash!" locking my eyes upon the throat, I push off raising my blade.
Instantaneously I deviate my blade through the thick flesh with every bit of strength finding it stronger than some. Driving it through, it's head finally was severed; hearing the sound of his head tumbles to the ground before his body disintegrates into nothing instantly. Dizziness washes over me for second, drawing my blade back into the scabbard feeling my adrenaline die down and the pain begins to spike.
"That was such a weakling," Sanemi draws his blade back into his scabbard, and approaches me. "My damned sword though........think I need to go to the sword-smith village and get mine repaired......"
Humming in agreement, "Mine is almost about to shatter," I comment, about to step forward when I inhale sharply as my lower back felt stiff. "Shit--" feeling everything becoming simultaneously painful the more I move.
"Hey, what's the matter?" He questions, when his eyes widen in realisation. "That blow you took to the spine, is that the issue?" his hand nestles against my lower back, trying to apply some warmth to it.
"I'm fine,"
"Don't bullshit me," he brushes my pathetic excuse, as he gently rubs my back. He seems to be in deep though before he looks to the sunrise, that slowly appears behind the mountains. "Hmm, why don't we head to the village......get our weapons fixed and stay for a night or two and heal in the hot springs. You seem to be needing some therapeutic care, you haven't been looking as well...."
He seemed to have it all figured out, but then again he was right. I haven't been taking care of my body much, and even during my monthly times my lower back has been aching. Adding onto that, my body has been tense and the lack of sleep as well.......
Damn I'm such a mess.......
"Sounds good, I think I might need it," I breath out, before exhaling deeply while trying to not to add any more discomfort than what I've got now.
"Right........then we'll request a crow to organise our trip by the kakushi them," He nods, before summoning his crow to relay a message for assistance to keep the village's location hidden like usual. "Perfect time in autumn....."
"Yeah......I agree...."
