Yet when most of it's body raised higher, my eyes widen with horror seeing it's entire torso shredded with it's ribs poking out, barely keeping it's innards inside. Slowly my eyes find it's internal organs spill out, brusquely. Feeling I wanted to be sick at the sight, I couldn't as it's organs heavily knocked and took out a section of Garrison soldiers. Blood sprays heavily, their cries echoing from the distance.
Toppling over the wall gruesomely, I could hear the people within the district screaming out with fear. Indeed they're terrified, now regretting their protesting from before.
The Garrison soldiers were also running along the walls away from the titan, as if they can't do anymore than what they've given. No matter, it seems they've given us the job instead, which we've always done. Standing my ground my eyes met with levi's briefly, only to find my vision becoming more hazy than before. My hand raises to my temple, while my eyes hung heavily.
Smacking both my cheeks with a sharp slap, my eyes cleared up and focused on Erwin's tactful approach two. Though it was small, I hoped his plan will accomplish more than what the Garrison has given us.
Orders were giving out to each of us, as we headed straight towards the barrels of water displayed above. The kids quickly rinsed the water over themselves, cooling themselves down before we could move any further. Our bodies will collapse in any second, if we kept going without any source of moisture.
"Stand back, Captain," Levi sternly places a hand, upon Carsten's shoulder. "We'll take over from here."
"Corporal!" Jean calls, passing me a bucket of water. "You don't look good, you alright?"
Taking the bucket I thank him, "I'm okay, Jean," I assure him softly, while scanning across making sure everyone else has taken care of themselves. Finally verifying that they've watered themselves, I carefully raised the bucket and dumped it over me. A wave of relief washes over, exhaling deeply as the cooling water lowered my body temperature down instantly.
Though it drenched my clothes, as it clung to my skin I didn't care. It was uncomfortable, but it was better than nothing.
Exhaling i flick my hair either side fluttering my eyes open, before setting the bucket down knowing it was enough. Adjusting my straps my hand touches the metal of my ODM, hissing in response to how hot it's gotten to the touch. Flicking my hands I soon turning to the three kiddos, rolling my shoulders.
"Alright Sasha!" walking up to her, nudging my head to the barrel-wagon contraption Hanji managed to make. "You may begin!"
"Ma'am!" before she rushes over taking the controller grips, and readys herself while I stood beside to ease her worries. She rolls up the barrel, knowing someone else on Hanji's end will also be doing the same as well.
Soon Erwin shot a red smoke signal, "Now!!!!!!!!"
Sasha fires the weapon in that moment as the giant spears sunk into the flesh of the giant hands, knowing we've got him. Soon Sasha clicks the trigger, before the barrels go off, "Take this!!!!!!!!"
The barrels swivel in a beeline towards the hands, before it collides with a heavy explosion, blowing on impact. Rod's grip loosens in response, causing it to fall off balance for only a moment. Frightening it was, victory was only impartial on our side. Following after I could hearing heavy stomps, as Eren's titan form bursts through the heavy steam.
"Go Eren!!!!!!!"
Though his form was definitely smaller than Rod's, he has the upperhand with his speed. Within moments Eren jumps high up, before throwing the bag of explosive barrels in hand into it's mouth. With the intensity of the heat, it'll definitely ignite, even without a detonator.
Readying myself I grip my controllers, as the explosion became blinding at the eye.
Massive chunks of flesh flew in all directions in the sky, knowing our plan must commence forth. Erwin soon orders us sharply, taking our opportunity to take the man out. Activating my gear, I drew my blades without hesitation and dug my hooks into the thick chunks of flesh.
Massive they were, it gave me leverage to attach myself to each one.
Sharply running my blades through each chunk that lays wake in my line of vision, I directed myself in a beeline slicing through. Rapidly running my blades through, the heat was intensifies through the steel of my weapons. Hastily taking my chances, I weave my way through taking every chunk I could see. Bits of bone flew in the air, trying to dodge the sharp attack.
I flew high up past both Jean and Connie, as one almost collided into the two.
My eyes angle down trying to find any piece that seemed unusually, but noticeably bigger to be the nape. My hands were burning from how hot the steel was growing, and my body was sweating profusely sticking to my skin, uncomfortably. A short gasp leaves my lips, as I could hear the sound of a small explosion occurring above me.
Meeting with Historia's stunned crystal blue eyes, I knew well enough she took the last blow.
We did it, we've finally ended Rod Reiss for good.........
Knowing there was no point in slicing the rest, I fall back to the wall only to find my body giving in to exhaustion. Choking dryly I burst an equal amount of gas towards the wall for support, while trying to hold myself up. My arm was becoming more painful, now I was at ease of Rod's defeat.
"Shit,"
Reaching the wall my feet slid off, only to grip my boots against the side. Black dots filled my vision, my hands tightening knowing if I let my grip slip, then I go down with no support. Activating my gear again I reach the top, landing carefully only for my knees to buckle suddenly. My knees painfully hit the stone wall, while my arm shifts uncomfortably.
"What the hell......." quickly placing my controllers back, my good hand automatically grips my bullet wound. Wait, why is it damp? Thought the heat sucked the moisture from my clothes already, so.....?
Retracting my hand, red stained my fingertips. No even surprised by this, it hurts like a bitch and I couldn't do much to prevent the pain. Tears prick the corners of my eyes, when a hand slid down my back carefully supporting my back.
"Corporal?" Jean's voice calls, causing my eyes to hazily meet with three blurry figures in my front of me. "Hey, you alright?"
Their faces weren't clear, but I could tell by his voice he was concerned.
Nodding, "Hmm.....yeah, just.........don't worry," I assure the children, hating the fact they have to see me this way. Pathetic it was, it was only a opened bullet wound.
"She bleeding down her arm!" Connie exclaims, while feeling petite fingers trying to untie the old rag that I binded around. Fumbling around it, I inhale and exhaling slowly, but steadily.
"Just help me stand," I sharply inhale, feeling Jean's grip firmly supported me, carefully pushing myself up. Realistically speaking, I haven't recovered from the ambush in Trost. Though I was confident through everything while bearing a wound, I still wasn't meant to be moving like I was now.
"But Corporal, you need--"
I pat her head, "I'm fine, just a few stitches and bandages and I'll be fine," I assure her, with a chuckle following after. Swallowing thickly, my vision grew hazy again while almost buckling forward.
"Shit, Jean keep her steady," Connie curses. "Captain, won't be pleased!"
"That's what I'm doing, you dumbass!" Jean retorts, while supporting me firmly before finding one of the crates nearby. Ushering Sasha to flip it, they help me over. Using that he carefully sits me down, as my eyes reach to the three that hollered over.
"Thank you," I smile weakly, while patting Sasha's arm with gratitude. "All of you, it means alot to know I can rely on you three."
Their eyes were wide, stunned by my acknowledgement.
"Corporal........." they whisper in unison, not knowing what else to say but accept my appreciation.
"Akira!"
My head slowly turns to see Levi landing back to the wall, heading towards us. Smiling weakly I went to stand to embrace him, but my legs wouldn't let me. I've overdone it, and all I could do was smile away the pain. He didn't seem to buy it all, before placing a hand upon my good shoulder.
"What's going on?" He asks firmly, while kneeling beside me. His hand rests carefully upon my back, while the other rubs my arm soothingly. He glances up to the kids for an answer, "Did anything happened, or--?"
"No!" I reply quickly, gesturing to the loose rag that binded my wound. "I overdone it, but I'm alright. Not gonna die or anything, so no need to concern yourself."
He sighs not sure whether to believe me, but the trail of blood rolls down my arm, causing him to curse under his breath. He unwraps the bind carefully, as he reuses it and wraps my wounded again for the time being. Hating the fact that he was seeing me like this, made me feel weak. It was pathetic, and also sick.
"I'm okay, Captain--"
"Don't bullshit me, we're taking you to the infirmary soon as we collect ourselves," He sharply scolds me, as if I was a child. My eyes lower, before a smile curls upon my lips feeling warmth in my chest with how careful he tries to bind my arm. Thinking he was pissed with me, he pats my head tenderly mumbling with a sorry.
"Captain, she will be alright, right?" Sasha asks, with uncertainty. "She won't die, right?!--"
Connie flicks her temple, "Take it easy idiot, of course she's gonna be fine!" he argues back. "She's Akira Yamasaki! Our Corporal! Our teacher!"
"But she's lost a lot of blood, andfoughtmuchharderthanany of us and--!" Sasha rambles on, fear shaking in her voice while overthinking too much, that I couldn't understand what she was going on about.
"Shut up, she's stronger than you think!" Connie hisses, knocking her head with his knuckle. "Just shut up, and just--"
Jean holds Connie in a chokehold, "Oi, be quiet.......my ears are still adjusting from the cannon fire," He grimaces, while Connie's arms flailed around helplessly.
I couldn't help but chuckle at the three, seeing how easily they can distract each other. Seeing those three grow since the cadet corps, has really shown me how much they've matured, and with how much experience they had in a matter of two months or less. It really has shown, but I knew there was more than all of us.
"Alright, just keep yourself hydrated and I'll get you once we're done," Levi informs me, while ushering Connie to grab some water or a canteen nearby. "I'll leave Sasha with you, while other two help us out with the rest.
Humming softly his hand gently threads through hair, "M'kay," while his eyes gaze into my eyes, with a loving softening expression. With that he leaves me alone with Sasha, allowing me to wait for everything to come to rest.
Today was a victory, but I knew we had more to work to resume......
