πππ ππππ πππ ππππππ, Ileana had no privacy. No one did here, familes and groups of people were everywhere you looked. She felt like she was in prison or something, gangs surrounding her and fences keeping them in.
When Tony had mentioned something about going to play basketball she only nodded, continuing to braid a woman's hair who had promised to pay her if she did a good job. It was around half an hour later when Tony had came back into the huge tent she was in. A few minutes prior to this she had moved to the other side of the room, the heat too much.
Tony had clearly told Manny to look after Ileana while he was gone, and was now scolding him as they both walked inside, not seeing her where they left her. She heard something along the lines of "You puta I told you to watch her!" As Tony walked around the room. It wasn't a safe place they were staying, not at all. So Tony rarely left her on her own.
The woman payed her a couple dollars and Ileana flashed her a quick smile before walking over to Tony "Tony I'm here" she called out to her pacing boyfriend, who quickly made his way over to her, taking her small frame into his arms, kissing her "Where'd you go huh?" He asked in a thick Cuban accent.
"It was too warm over there" she mumbled back, pointing to where she had been. He sighed but nodded, wrapping an arm around her waist giving her one last kiss before walking with her and Manny too a secluded spot outside so they could talk in private.
"Mi amor I got something to tell you" He said quietly to her, rubbing his forehead, that had a red bandanna on it. She nodded, her way of telling him to spit it out.
"We gotta way out of here" he said looking into the distance. At those words she felt immense relief. She hated it here, Tony knew that. She didn't plague him with her moaning, but he knew her well enough to know she wanted out now. But seeing him slightly frustrated meant she knew they're was a catch.
She sighed, looking up at him "What you gotta do?" She asked him grimly knowing it most definitely meant harming someone in here.
He sighed rubbing his forehead again "We got smoke somebody" he said very quietly making her swallow, her fears coming true. By we Tony meant he and Manny, he never let Ileana get involved in his dangerous business.
"Who" she asked gently, her hand playing with his top while Manny stood to Tony's side, making sure no one else was listening to their private conversation.
"You don't need to know his name, he's a communist" Tony practically growled. There were two types of Cubans at this time. Those who adored Castro, and those who despised him, there was rarely an in between. It was safe to say all three of them hated him. His so called economic policies destroyed their neighbourhood, he then practically kicked them out the country too.
"He was kicked out by Castro, like we was. But he's different, he used to me one of Castros main dogs in the early days. Guess Castro felt like he couldn't trust him no more, so got rid of him. But while he was on top, he tortured a few guys to death man, and one of the guys brother, he lives in Miami. He can get us all a green card and a job in miami" Manny elaborated, leaning his arm against the wall as he explained the situation to Ileana.
"That's ugly, very ugly, are you sure?" She asked Tony worriedly, her Cuban accent very obvious now, it came out when she was upset or anxious, and when she was tired.
"I'd kill that fucker for myself, getting frees just a bonus" Tony spat, his darker side coming out now.
"Tony" Ileana sighed, she hated when he got angry like this. He saw this as slowly enveloped her in his arms.
"lo siento mi amor" he mumbled kissing her head, knowing better after all these years than to show that side of him to her often. He cupped her cheek as he continued "I want to make a life for us you know. But you gotta know, it'll be messy, but that's our only shot" he kissed her cheek.
She nodded at his words. She knew this. People like her, immigrants in places like this either got lucky and got a good job, or they found money in doing dangerous, dangerous things. They never did have much luck in their lives. She leaned her head into his chest.
"When?" She mumbled, wanting to know when they planned to kill the politician. She hoped it was soon, so they could get out of this place.
"A few days, and its done" he promised, tilting her head up to give her a nice slow kiss turning her frown into a smile.

It was perfect for them really. The day they had planned to kill the man turned out to help them massively. There was riots, bad ones. People went crazy in the camp, burning tents and beating up the guards with pipes, sticks, rocks you name it. This would make it easier to kill him secretly. Tony's only problem was keeping Ileana safe, because she wasn't with all the riots.
He had lectured her about staying in her tent with the other women. The men were crazy, however they knew better than to hurt their own women. It felt like hours before she heard the voice of Tony. She ran out the tent, met with his embrace.
"Are you okay?" She asked worriedly, checking him over for bruises and injuries, but he was fine. He nodded "I'm ok" and kissed her cheek holding her close.
"Is it.. done?" She asked grimly and he nodded stiffly back at her. Tony had stabbed the man, his death was quick, he was dead a minute after the attack, and no one had seen a thing since they were all going crazy anyway.

Just as promised, around a month later, the three of them and a few other were released from the detention camp. They were free, and it felt good. They were back in the office they had been interviewing in. A large man handed Tony their documents, and a card with their faces on it.
Seeing his card Tony smiled "there it is" and there was a few cheers behind him. Some of the other people that had been released on the same day had been there even longer, some over a year, it depends how suspicious they made themselves seem when they came over.
Tony flicked through them seeing Ileana's and pulling out hers, and there was a small card with her picture and name on it too. She smiled at it, an excited man behind her smiled at it "Hey look at that face, it's pretty!" He exclaimed.
Tony's smile dropped, a deadly look on his face now "Hey man you wanna keep your tongue, shut the fuck up" he ordered making the man immediately shit his mouth and Tony left with Ileana and Manny. They had made it, finally.
