Kyung-jun hated being taken care of.

Which was why he was currently grumbling as Minji pressed a disinfected cotton pad against the cut on his cheek.

"Stop moving," she scolded, her brows furrowed in concentration.

"It stings," he muttered, glaring at her.

She rolled her eyes. "Oh, really? Maybe you should've thought about that before getting into a fight, again."

Kyung-jun scoffed. "Like I had a choice. That guy wasโ€”"

"I don't care what he said." Minji cut him off, her voice firm but still holding that gentle warmth that always made his chest feel weird. "You don't have to fight every person who pisses you off, you know?"

Kyung-jun looked away, his jaw tightening. "I do when they talk about you."

Minji's hands froze.

Her eyes snapped up to his, searching. "What?"

He swallowed, clearly regretting saying that out loud.

"It doesn't matter," he muttered, avoiding her gaze.

But Minji wasn't letting this go. "Wait... You mean to tell me... that you got into a fight because of me?"

Kyung-jun sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair. "I didn't plan to. But when that asshole started talking about you likeโ€”like you were some jokeโ€”" His fists clenched. "I wasn't gonna just stand there and let him."

Minji stared at him, her heart doing this annoying little flip in her chest.

"You idiot," she whispered, her voice trembling slightly.

Kyung-jun frowned. "Excuse me?"

"You absolute idiot!" She smacked his uninjured arm, making him flinch. "You didn't have to do that for me!"

He scowled. "Of course, I did! You think I'm just gonna let some loser talk shit about you?"

Minji bit her lip, suddenly feeling something way too warm spread in her chest.

With a sigh, she gently cupped his face, forcing him to look at her. "You're such a grumpy, reckless idiot..." she murmured, her fingers tracing the bruises on his cheek with a softness that made Kyung-jun freeze.

Then, before he could react, she leaned in and pressed a feather-light kiss next to one of his bruises.

Kyung-jun went rigid.

His brain stopped working.

Minji pulled back, a small smirk playing on her lips. "There. That's a better way to make you feel better than punching someone, don't you think?"

Kyung-jun blinked, his ears turning a deep shade of red. "Y-youโ€”"

Minji just grinned and went back to patching him up like nothing happened.

Kyung-jun, on the other hand, sat there completely ruined, wondering how the hell he was supposed to survive this girl.

โ€”

Kyung-jun sat there, completely wrecked.

His cheek still stung from the fight, but it was nothing compared to the fire burning in his chest after what Minji just did.

Did she really justโ€”did she really just kiss him? Okay, not on the lips, but still!

And now she was acting like nothing happened, humming softly as she carefully wrapped a bandage around his knuckles.

Like she didn't just ruin him.

Like she didn't just turn his whole world upside down.

Kyung-jun's hands clenched into fists. He couldn't take this anymore.

"Minji." His voice came out low, strained.

"Hm?" she hummed, not looking up.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm raging inside him. Failing miserably.

"You can't just do that."

Minji finally looked up, blinking in confusion. "Do what?"

Kyung-jun snapped.

Before she could process what was happening, his hands shot out, gripping her wrist and pulling her towards him.

Her breath hitched as she found herself just inches away from his face, her knees brushing against his.

"Kyung-junโ€”?"

"Do this," he muttered, his eyes flickering down to her lips, his restraint hanging by a thread. "You can't just kiss me like that and expect me to sit here like an idiot."

Minji's lips parted slightly, her heartbeat going wild.

Kyung-jun was too close.

She could feel his breath, warm and unsteady, his fingers still wrapped around her wrist like he was afraid she'd slip away.

Her eyes searched his, but what she saw made her throat go dry.

That usual grumpy, guarded Kyung-jun was gone.

This Kyung-jun was raw, intenseโ€”desperate.

"Say something," he whispered, his voice lower now, almost pleading.

Minji swallowed hard, her heart hammering against her ribs.

Then, she made the mistake of glancing at his lips.

That was all it took.

Kyung-jun let out a sharp breath before closing the distance, crashing his lips against hers in a kiss that was all heat, frustration, and pent-up feelings.

Minji barely had time to react before she melted against him, her hands instinctively grabbing the front of his shirt, pulling him closer.

His lips moved against hers like he'd been waiting forever for this moment, like he needed this, needed her.

When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless, their foreheads resting against each other's.

Minji was the first to break the silence, her lips curling into a small, teasing smile. "So... does this mean you like me?"

Kyung-jun groaned, dropping his head onto her shoulder. "Shut up."

Minji just laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck, holding him close.

Grumpy idiot.
