Cat vs. Boyfriend

Kyung-jun had always thought he was tough.

He had fought people twice his size, walked through school halls like he owned the place, and had a reputation that made people avoid eye contact.

But there was one opponent he could never seem to win against.

Minji's cat.

Jjanggu.

The tiny, fluffy, orange demon that Minji adored more than anything.

Kyung-jun sighed, arms crossed as he glared at the little ball of fur curled up perfectly in Minji's lap.

"Move him," Kyung-jun demanded.

Minji blinked up at him from the couch, her fingers gently scratching Jjanggu's ears. "What?"

"I said move him." Kyung-jun gestured at the cat. "I was sitting there first."

Minji gasped dramatically. "Excuse me? He was here before you got here, actually."

Kyung-jun scowled. "I literally sat there ten minutes ago before I got up to get water. And I come back, and he's there."

Minji shrugged. "Well, Jjanggu goes where he pleases."

Kyung-jun narrowed his eyes at the smug little cat, who just blinked at him lazily, stretching his tiny paws as if to mock him.

Kyung-jun gritted his teeth. "I swear, he does this on purpose."

Minji giggled. "Oh? You think my precious baby is plotting against you?"

"Yes." Kyung-jun sat on the couch beside her, arms crossed. "He always sits between us. Always interrupts when I'm holding you. And don't think I haven't noticed how he stares at me every time I kiss you."

Minji bit her lip to keep from laughing. "Sounds like someone's jealous."

Kyung-jun scoffed. "I am not jealous of a cat."

Minji reached over and poked his cheek. "Aww, my grumpy boyfriend is losing to my tiny, adorable Jjanggu~."

Kyung-jun groaned. "This is ridiculous."

At that moment, Jjanggu stretched again, his tail flicking Kyung-jun's arm like a deliberate insult.

Kyung-jun narrowed his eyes. "That's it."

Before Minji could react, Kyung-jun scooped Jjanggu upβ€”lifting him off her lap.

Jjanggu let out an annoyed little meow, his tail flicking wildly.

"Kyung-jun!" Minji gasped, scandalized. "Put him down!"

"No." Kyung-jun placed the cat on the other side of the couch. "I'm taking back my spot."

And just to prove a point, he plopped down next to Minji, slinging an arm around her waist to pull her close.

Minji blinked. "You're seriously fighting a cat for cuddles?"

Kyung-jun leaned in and kissed her forehead, smirking. "Damn right, I am."

Minji giggled, shaking her head. "You're ridiculous."

Just as Kyung-jun started to relax, thinking he had finally won, he suddenly felt claws digging into his leg.

He flinched. "Owβ€”what theβ€”?!"

Jjanggu had climbed onto his lap and was now staring up at him, his tiny paws pressing into Kyung-jun's thigh like he was claiming dominance.

Minji burst into laughter. "Jjanggu! You little troublemaker!"

Kyung-jun glared down at the cat, who just blinked at him, completely unfazed.

"...I hate this thing," Kyung-jun muttered.

Minji reached over, scratching behind Jjanggu's ears. "No, you don't."

Kyung-jun grumbled under his breath, but when Minji leaned up to press a small kiss to his jaw, he let out a long sigh. "...Fine. I don't."

Minji smiled knowingly. "You secretly like him."

"Not a chance."

But as Minji turned away, Kyung-jun reached down and very subtly scratched behind Jjanggu's ears.

The cat purred.

Minji grinned. "I saw that."

Kyung-jun groaned. "Shut up."

And Jjanggu? He just curled up on Kyung-jun's lap like he had won the war.

Cat vs. Boyfriend (Part 2)

Kyung-jun sighed, staring down at the smug little furball now comfortably curled up on his lap. Jjanggu had won. Again.

Minji, still giggling, leaned into Kyung-jun's side. "Looks like he likes you after all."

Kyung-jun scoffed. "No. He's just rubbing it in my face."

Minji reached up, playing with the strands of his dark hair. "Mmm. Sounds like a certain someone I know."

He turned his head to glare at her, but with her fingers gently stroking his hair, it was impossible to stay mad. He sighed, letting his head fall back against the couch. "This is my life now, huh?"

Minji grinned. "Yep."

Kyung-jun ran a hand down his face. "Great."

Jjanggu let out a content little mrrp sound, stretching his tiny paws against Kyung-jun's stomach before snuggling in deeper.

Kyung-jun groaned. "Oh, come on."

Minji gasped dramatically. "He trusts you! This is a big deal!"

Kyung-jun gave her a deadpan look. "Minji, your cat has spent the last six months actively plotting against me."

Minji giggled. "He was testing you."

"Tch." Kyung-jun glanced down at Jjanggu, who was now purring in his sleep, fully relaxed on his lap.

Kyung-jun let out a defeated sigh. "...This is embarrassing."

Minji reached up and cupped his cheek, her thumb brushing over his skin. "I think it's cute."

Kyung-jun narrowed his eyes. "Say that again, and I'm leaving."

Minji giggled before leaning up and pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. "You love me too much to leave."

Kyung-jun huffed, but his ears turned pink. "...Shut up."

Minji only beamed, snuggling closer into his side.

And even though Kyung-jun had lost yet another battle to Jjanggu, as Minji tucked herself under his arm, warmth blooming in his chest, he figured... maybe this war wasn't so bad after all.
