Mara's eyes were frozen on the blood coating her fingers. She rubbed her fingers together smearing the blood and all she could hear were her dad's words ringing in her ears. Over and over and over again.

"Why are you still here? You want another bottle?" Mara flinched as she heard the sound of more glass shattering. She looked up to see her dad had crushed the glass he was holding in his hands and was now stalking towards her. "Are you deaf?"

Mara quickly got up and ran to her room shutting the door and locking it. Her dad banged on it and she just slid down the door and sat on the floor. "Open the door! Open the god damn door!" She didn't want to cry so she forced the tears back and covered her ears to block out her father's screams.

It didn't work.

His voice was ringing her head and she kept hearing the sound of the glass shattering. The noises replayed and replayed until she couldn't take it anymore and she screamed.

Her dad's voice was drowned out by the sound of her screaming and eventually she couldn't hear the banging. She couldn't hear anything but the sound of her own voice.

She didn't know when she stopped screaming but her throat was sore. Her dad could no longer be heard and she assumed he had passed out in his room. She grabbed her phone from her pocket and called Ryan. He picked up on the third ring.

"Hey Mars. Can I call you back later? I'm in the middle of dessert with Miguel's family." He hung up and Mara stared at her screen. So much for always being there.

She tried the next number she could think of which was Hawk. Her phone rang and rang but it went straight to voicemail. She punched the ground in frustration.

She didn't want to call Tory after the awkward moment they had in the park. She didn't want to burden Gia with her problems after they just got back on good terms. Her and Sam were currently on bad terms. There was only one other number she could call and she hoped she wouldn't regret it.

She pressed their contact and waited as the phone rang. After the fourth ring Mara was about to hang up when a voice came through.

"Mara?"

"You beat up Demetri over a Yelp review? What the hell were you even thinking?" Moon glared at Hawk who glared right back at her.

"He joined Miyagi-Do."

"So what? He's your friend."

"He's a fucking nerd! And he'll always be a nerd."

Moon looked away from him to calm herself. "You know what. This deal is over. It hasn't done any good anyway."

     She started to walk back to her car when Hawk called out to her. "When were you gonna tell me you kissed Mara?"

     Moon turned around in shock. "How do you even know that? And why would it matter? We made a deal. I was trying to make someone jealous and so were you."

     "I would have never agreed to it if I knew that person was Mara."

    "Well it's not like you told me who you were trying to make jealous!"

     "Mara! I was trying to make Mara jealous! And because you didn't tell me you were too we ended up hurting her!"

     "That's not completely my fault. We both agreed to pretending to date so we are both at fault for hurting her! Mara wouldn't want to date a bully anyway." Moon got in her car and Hawk glared at her as she pulled away.

     Moon drove down the road in her car wiping the tears from her eyes. All of it had been for nothing. Mara hated her because of a stupid decision that she could never take back. Moon didn't even realize that Hawk was the same boy Yasmine used to bully until a few weeks ago.

     Her phone started to ring and Moon pulled over so she could answer it. She was surprised at the name on her phone. She quickly answered it and put the phone up to her ear. "Mara?"

     "Can you please come over? I know we're not talking but no one else is answering and I don't want to be alone."

    "I'm on my way."

Mara and Hawk are friends again and Mara's dad has gone crazy! We also haven't seen Gia in awhile and that was on purpose to show how she felt excluded from her friends. Kreese has also helped Mara find a way to channel her emotions.

Just pointing out that Kreese is NOT a pedophile or a r*pist. That's just not who he is. Especially since he was the one to help Tory with the landlord. So if you got any of those vibes from him in this story I am here to tell you he is not that kind of person in this book.
