β"ALRIGHT GUYS THIS YEAR WE HAVE TO WIN"
The coach exclaimed, "This is their last chance, their opportunity to make a name for themselves," motioning toward the first-years and third-years. What about us?" Takashi asked. "You second-years are already well known," the coach replied. "We are?" Hana questioned, surprised.
"Yes, all of you come from powerhouse backgrounds, so there's no need for further questions," Coach Takahashi said, dismissing them with a wave of her hand. "But as I was saying, this time we have to give it everything we've got. Now, let's get started with practice!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with determination.
With that, everyone quickly stood up and began setting up for practice. The air buzzed with focused energy as you and your teammates moved efficiently, preparing the field. Within a few minutes, everything was ready, and the familiar rhythm of practice began. The intensity in the air made it clear, this wasn't just another day; it was the beginning of something bigger.
"Mind if we join?" a voice called out. You turned your head to see the female volleyball team approaching. "Of course, ladies," Yuta replied, grinning from ear to ear. "I haven't seen him smile like that since the principal's wig flew off," Takashi muttered, raising an eyebrow. "You didn't know?" Mina leaned in and whispered with a grin. "He's got a huge crush on their captain."
"Oh, then go for it, I guess," Takashi said with a shrug, not too concerned. "Alright, enough yapping! Let's get started with practice!" Coach Takahashi called out, clapping her hands to get everyone's attention.
The girls' team took their positions on one side of the court, while your team lined up on the opposite side, ready for the scrimmage. As you were getting into position, something clicked. "Wait, was this planned?" you asked Mina, suddenly suspicious.
Mina smirked and nodded slightly. "Let's just say the coaches thought a little friendly competition would spice things up." You glanced back at Yuta, who was still grinning like he'd won the lottery. It all made sense now, the mixed practice, the sudden match. It wasn't just about improving skills; it was about raising the levels all of you stood at, pushing everyone harder. You couldn't help but feel the excitement build as you prepared to play against the girls' team. This was going to be an interesting practice.
Just as the noise began to die down and the two teams got ready to start, the gym doors swung open with a loud bang. "Coming through!" Tanaka and Noya shouted as they charged in, full of their usual high energy. Daichi groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "How many times do I have to tell you guys not to do that?" Asahi quickly stepped forward, giving a polite bow. "Sorry about them," he said with a gentle smile, trying to keep the peace.
"That wasn't planned, though," Mina said, looking genuinely puzzled. She glanced at Senju, wondering if it was her doing, but Senju seemed just as confused. "Alright then, let's get back to practice!" the coach called out, refocusing everyone.
βMINI TIME-SKIP BROUGHT TO YOU BY A FEW UNPLANNED GUESTS
YOUR POV
"Yours!" I yelled as I passed the ball to Curtis. "Ai!" he shouted, setting it up for Ai. "Got it!" she said, jumping up and spiking the ball to the opposite side of the court.
Unfortunately, the ball was blocked by none other than Tsukishima Kei. Man, i hated his guts, every time he smirked, i just wanted to smack it off his face. But sometimes, i couldn't help but see my younger brother in Tsukishima. From height to looks to personality, they were like the same person in different fonts. Literally.
"Pretty easy to block, but you've got one hell of a hit," Tsukishima said, rubbing his hands together. "Told you," my younger brother said to the blond boy. "Now I get why they look alike, they're the same person in different fonts!" Hana said in utter shock. "Literally," Shoyo added, staring back and forth between Hiroto and Tsukishima.
"Keep looking at me like that, and I'm gonna stomp you," Hiroto threatened. "Stop telling people that!" | scolded him. "Why?" he asked, frowning. "Because it's a threat, and I know for a fact you won't actually do it," I said, handing him his water bottle. "doesn't mean I won't try...," he grumbled under his breath,.
"Look at you, being the big sister," Rin said, nudging me in the shoulder. "The craziest part? I only found out he existed two years ago," I replied. Thinking about it now, I still don't know why I never told my dad about him.
After all, he's my mom's son too. Was I really scared, or was it just that I didn't want to be the one who wrecked everything?
"Ack! What was that for?" you asked Osana after she hit you on the back. "You were daydreaming again," she replied. "Still thinking about the affair?" "Yeah," you sighed. "I don't know how to tell my dad about it. I'm just scared of how he'll react."
In fact, Osana was the first person you confided in about the whole situation. From the day you discovered Hiroto even existed, she had been right there with you, offering support. She had seen your shock firsthand and helped you process the overwhelming emotions that came with it.
βFLASHBACK
It was after a tough match against Sakurai Academy when you and Osana decided to wander around, looking for something to pass the time. You both needed a break from the intensity of the game, so a quiet walk seemed like the perfect way to unwind. As you strolled through the nearby park, the distant sound of a whistle caught your attention. Curious, the two of you followed the noise and stumbled upon an ongoing match between Chidoriyama Junior High and Sekodai Junior High. The energy of the game immediately drew you in, and before you knew it, you and Osana found yourselves glued to the sidelines, watching the fierce competition unfold.
You and Osana made your way to the stands, settling in to watch the game when you noticed Asahi and Nishinoya sitting a few rows ahead. "Oh hey, guys!" Osana waved, catching their attention. Both of them waved back, smiling. "Are you two here to cheer someone on?" Asahi asked as you leaned forward. "Nah, we're just killing time," you replied with a shrug. "What about you guys? Why are you here?" Nishinoya grinned and pointed toward the field. "The teams playing are from our old junior high. Thought we'd come by and check it out."
"You guys were part of powerhouse teams?!" you asked, eyes wide in disbelief. "Yup," Nishinoya said with a smirk, while Asahi nodded, a small grin tugging at his lips. Before you could ask more, Osana nudged you and pointed toward the field. "Oh, look, they're announcing the starting lineup." As the commentator called out the players' names, you sat back, listening casually, until a familiar last name caught your attention, making you sit up straight in surprise.
"Sanga?" you repeated in disbelief, your heart skipping a beat. "Isn't that...?" Osana started, her voice trailing off. "That's my mom's last name," you confirmed, your mind racing. Osana tried to offer some reassurance, though it was clear even she wasn't convinced. "Maybe we're just jumping to conclusions. He could just be a cousin or something." The keyword there was *tried*, but the uncertainty lingered in both of your minds.
"I don't think so," you muttered, your voice barely above a whisper. "My mom's the only person in all of Japan with that last name." As the words left your mouth, a wave of anger surged through you, clouding your thoughts. Rage and confusion tangled together, making it hard to think clearly..
""Then that can only mean one thing," Osana said quietly. After Chidoriyama's victory, you made your decision. You would go to that boy, ask him if he knew your mother, and finally put an end to everything, right here and now.
Once his team was finally out of the dressing room you walked up to him and asked if you could privately speak to him he accepted he followed you to the distributors just outside the building.
"I know this is random, but I have one question," you said to the boy. "Go ahead," he replied. "Is your mother M/N Sanga?" you asked. His face darkened at the mention of her name. "Yeah, why does it matter to you?" he snapped. His answer was all the confirmation you needed.
"Cut the sass. I just wanted to say we're half-siblings," you told him, but his expression didn't change. "Yeah, I know," he said, lowering his head. "Our mom's cheating on your dad, and I'm the result. No need to remind me."
Seeing him like that, you couldn't help but feel bad. Your mom had an affair while you, your dad, and brother were out of the country for a year.
"Hey, just so you know, none of this is your fault. You're not to blame for what myβourβmom did. Remember that, okay?" you reassured him.
"Thanks..." he muttered, thinking you didn't hear him.
"No need to thank me, just telling you the truth you needed to hear," you replied. As he walked away, he glanced at your jacket. "Karasuno High..." he mumbled. "You done flirting with her?" his teammate teased.
"That's my sister, you sick fuck," he snapped, shooting him a nasty look.
"Thanks..." he muttered, assuming you didn't hear him.
"No need to thank me, just telling you the truth," you said.As he walked away, he noticed the name on your jacket. "Karasuno High..." he mumbled.
"You done flirting with her?" his teammate joked.
"That's my sister, you idiot," he snapped, glaring at him.
"I feel so disgusted at your mom right now" she said.
βEND OF FLASHBACK
"Still thinking about that day, are you?" Hiroto asked.
"Yeah," you replied. "Stop thinking about it. One day, we'll end it once and for all," he said, putting his arm around your shoulder.
"This is the first time I've seen them hug, and yet it's still a half-assed hug," Curtis whispered to Ai. "I'll accept the crumbs," she whispered back.
