—"WE GO UP AGAINST DATEKO NEXT".
The coach's voice cut through the air with authority, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the opposing team's blockers rather than their hitters. Nods of understanding passed through your team as you began warming up. Meanwhile, your manager, Senju, grabbed a crate of water bottles and made her way to the sink. Amongst the hustle, she accidentally collided with someone, causing her to stumble momentarily. "Sorry," she apologized with a slight bow, regaining her balance. "Don't worry, are you okay?" the concerned individual inquired, extending a helping hand.
"I'm fine," she assured him. "Just remember to watch where you're going next time," he advised with a smile. "Bye!" they waved at each other before parting ways. "Dude, did you see how pretty she was?" the boy excitedly remarked to his friend beside him. "We're gonna be late for our game," his friend reminded him, urging them to focus on their upcoming match.
"Right, let's go," the other one said, urging them to pick up the pace as they headed towards the court. Upon reaching the court, they made a beeline for their coach. "Ah, Seo and Lee, you guys finally decided to show up. Next time you're late, I'm benching you for the whole game," the coach warned sternly. "I'm the only setter here. How do you expect to play without a setter?" Lee retorted, his tone laced with sass. "Benze? Do you think you can manage as a setter?" the coach challenged, raising an eyebrow in response. "Yup," the girl replied confidently. Their coach shrugged. The boys scoffed and walked away. "Check out the opponents," the number 2 player nudged his teammate.
—MINI TIME SKIP TO THE GAME
After exchanging bows, both teams positioned themselves on the court, with the designated players ready to play while the rest sat on the sidelines. The initial lineup for your team seemed confusing, featuring Curtis, Osana, Keisuke, Akira, Takashi, and Hiroto.
"Coach, why did you only pick the tallest players from our team, and yet they still look like mice next to Dateko?" Yuzuha questioned. "And why am I here when I'm taller than Akira?" Shousuke added. "Because you're going to become his shadow," the coach explained calmly . "His shadow?" you questioned , puzzled by the coach's strategy. "Once Akira gains attention, they'll forget Shousuke. Then, he'll surprise them all, and voila, we have two standout players," the coach explained, gesturing toward you. "Me?" you questioned, seeking confirmation . "Yes, you," Rin confirmed with a nod. With a nod of understanding, you shifted your focus back to the court, ready to execute the plan.
"It's not looking good," Mina remarked, a hint of worry laced in her voice. "Let's just focus and hope for the best," Hana added. Curtis signaled for a timeout with a 'T' gesture, asking the coach to make the call. The referee blew the whistle, signaling the timeout to the players, who made their way to their respective coaches for guidance. "I told you they wouldn't be much of a challenge," Dateko's number 9 remarked confidently. And that was it he whole team turned around to look at the boy who said that it was the same guy who was making snarky remarks about your team earlier "Oikawa, Iwaizumi, Nishimura , Sanga, Kaminarimon, Hado and (L/N) you guys are next" the coach informed you guys. "For the people who are still on court communicate, Lix I know that you hate criticism but you'll have to take it all" the coach said and in return Curtis's face twisted in disgust.
"Quite the expressive face you've got there," the coach remarked, commenting on Curtis's animated reactions. With renewed determination, everyone returned to the court, their confidence unbroken. Dateko's number 3 stood behind the white line, bouncing the ball before executing his serve with precision, sending it soaring across the court.
The ball flew over the net to Takashi, who received it and passed it to Curtis, setting it perfectly for Osana's powerful hit. The point earned a high five between Osana and Curtis before Osana returned to her position at the back. "Good receive, a bit sloppy, but good," Curtis commented, prompting a humorous reaction from the sidelines. Watching the exchange, Hana burst into laughter. "Why are they giving each other the side-eye like that?" she chuckled.
"Communication was the lock in this situation, not the key," Shousuke added with a grin.

With some strategic substitutions, Curtis, Osana, and Akira were replaced by Rin, you, and Ai. The new lineup added fresh energy onto the court, improving coordination and cooperation among the players. As a result, the team's performance elevated significantly, making it easier for everyone to anticipate and respond to the ball. Before long, you found yourselves taking the lead and dominating the game with greater control and confidence.
KARASUNO - DATEKO
Rin stood positioned behind the white line, waiting for the referee's signal. With a sharp tweet, she launched into her serve, sending the ball soaring to the other side of the court. The opposing libero and hitter hesitated, their uncertainty costing them as the ball landed untouched, earning your team another point.
Glancing back at your team, you noticed a noticeable shift in dynamics. Tension had eased, and players seemed to be syncing better. "Rin truly is amazing," Mina remarked, admiration evident in her eyes. "Well, she does things her way," Yuta added with a knowing smile, acknowledging Rin's unique approach.
Rin continued her relentless serves until the opposing team managed to put the ball back into play. As the captain received it, their number seven hastily scrambled to save the sloppy pass and sent it over to number 12. With precision, number 12 leaped up and delivered a powerful hit towards your side of the court. Despite Hiroto's quick reaction and attempt to block, the ball managed to slip past, scoring a point for the opposing team.
During the timeout, both teams took a brief break. "What do we do?" Rin asked, turning to you for guidance. "I'm not sure, ask Kei," you suggested, motioning to Keisuke. All eyes turned to Keisuke, awaiting his response. "Change the rotation so Hiroto is in front of number 12 at all times," Keisuke instructed after a moment of silence . "Why?" Takashi asked. "Look at him," Keisuke replied, motioning towards the first-year player, encouraging everyone to observe the opponent closely.
As Hiroto's strategy became clear, the team quickly adjusted their positions accordingly. "Put me in front of number 9 and Ai in front of number 3," he instructed, everyone instantly understanding his plan . With the referee's whistle signaling the end of the timeout, both teams returned to the court and assumed their positions, ready to resume play.
The strategic positioning ensured that wherever players 12, 9, and 3 went, Hiroto, Ai, and Keisuke followed, leaving no free pathway. It was your team's turn to serve again, and this time Akira stepped up, standing positioned behind the white line. With a swift motion, he tossed the ball into the air and delivered a powerful serve across the court.
The ball grazed the net but miraculously made it over, caught by number 4 who passed it to number 7, then to number 12. As number 12 leaped to hit it, Hiroto blocked his shot. "Hope you remembered me, Morris," Hiroto sassed the opposing player in front of him.
You hurried over and playfully head-locked the boy, teasingly ruffling his hair. "Let go—ouch, don't pull my hair!" he protested, attempting to push you away to no avail. After a moment, you released him with a grin and one last playful hair ruffle. "Break the boy," you joked, enjoying the lighthearted moment.
