"...or see anything."

This wasn't happening. It couldn't have been. "I know." I tell her with a nod, a hand reaching round to her cheek. "I know, Max- it's okay. It's okay." I repeat to the girl in my arms, trying to stay composed. Tears of my own were dripping off of my face, but I barely even found the energy to even register it. "I think- uh- someone's getting you help right now, okay? It's all gonna be okay. Just hold on for me, alright?"

"Park." There's a moment where she pauses. "I'm scared. I'm so scared." Something in me shattered at that moment. She was scared. "I am so scared." Her breathing rate picks up dramatically, and all I can feel to do is hold her tighter as I try my best to calm her down.

"I know, I know- Maxine, it's okay-" I repeated, shaking my head to try and get rid of any tears.

"I don't wanna die. I'm not ready." I'm not ready. That was heavy. In fact, something in me dropped again, this time far more delicate and expensive. And it broke. It broke into thousands of pieces, scattering away.

A sob came out from me as I leaned down, planting a kiss on her forehead. "You're not gonna die, Maxine." I tell her in between another sob. "Hang on- just hang on a little while longer."

"I don't wanna go." She was panicking. The thought setting into her. "I'm not ready."

"You're not dying." I tell her, sniffing and shaking my head slightly. "You're not gonna die- Max- please just hang on we're getting help-" But the breathing quickened so suddenly. She stiffened ever so slightly. "No- No-" I didn't know what was happening. "Max- MAX? Stay with me- Max-"

I wasn't getting a reply anymore.
