"Alec, I know you're upset, but this is just not–" She tried to assure him.

Her brother snapped his head in her direction almost immediately  to, his fists were clamped on the desk he was working at, gripping so hard on the ends that it could have cracked. "You don't know, Izzy." He snapped quickly.

Alec sighed and released the table before he headed toward his room. "I need her." He stressed. "And I need him. And now I've lost them both." Had Alec been such an emotional person, he would have cried, hell Izzy was almost crying. She could feel the impending doom spreading. Alec stopped his walking and leant against the pillars at the head of the stairs.

"I know." She assured him, gently placing her hand on his arm. He shrugged it off and started to walk again. Although he didn't get much of a moment alone before Jocelyn caught up with the pair. She had a plan and it was far fetched, especially since it involved the iron sisters. But the Lightwood siblings would do anything to help their family.

✧

Arya wasn't sure how she had managed to make her plan work. She wasn't sure whether it was even possible until Magnus showed her the book. But now she couldn't contradict it. Because here she was standing in the middle of Valentine's boat, staring out at Jace who was gazing at the open water.

"Jace," Arya called out softly, almost completely in utter shock that she had done it.

Earlier on in the week when Alder-tree had caught her doing research, she had been so close to finding Jace. She knew he must have been over open water so there wasn't a chance of tracking him. Arya knew very well of teleportation rings, after they had been introduced to them after Hodge and Valentine had infiltrated the institute, she had done extensive research and discovered that Jace's was simply a variant of the original ring possessed by Alex Mortmainβ€”also known as the Magister, or the clockwork princeβ€”his ring actually held the power to transport to wherever the wearer wished. There are three rings known to the shadow world. And Arya wasn't sure whether it was luck or the world was finally trying to give them a chance, but she was sure she had seen a ring that resembled Mortmains before. On a whim, she took a closer look at the ring on her pinky finger. Her heart rate sped up when she noticed it. Because it simply couldn't be possible. But the ring resembled it perfectly, only it had an L for legacy carved into the top of it.

Arya had tried the ring but it hadn't worked, so she came to the conclusion that it had been dispelled or its magic was being blocked. And so she went to Magnus. He was able to unlock the full powers of the ring. And that was how she had managed to find Jace. But had that also been what her parents had died protecting?

Jace turned to look at the girl behind him. He didn't look happy to see her in the slightest. He looked angry and tired at the very most. "I've had enough of your mind games." He grumbled, getting into a fighting stance even though.

Arya shook her head walking forwards to the boy. "It's me." She pleaded, but with every step she took forwards, Jace took another step back.

The blonde boy scoffed. "Right." He grumbled, walking closer to her this time and wrapping her arms behind her back. She didn't try to fight him, knowing that she just wanted him to believe her.

Arya shook her head at his stubbornness. "Jace, it's me. I swear. Remember when you got your first seraph blade. Your very first duel was with me and you got angry because I broke stance and beat you." She laughed slightly and Jace's grip on her arms loosened.

He looked down at her worried. "What are you doing here?" He asked, moving to pull her around a corner so that nobody could see them talking.

"I was doing research and I found all about this ring and I have one of them, you have an idea of one, I asked Magnus to give it its powers back and it worked. I have one of the three knows teleportation rings." She said holding out her pinky to go show him.

The boy looked closer and frowned at the idea. "How did you even get this?" He asked.

"My parents, come on Jace I can get you out of here. We can leave and I can bring you back to the institute." She stressed but before either had the chance, Aryas only worry had placed itself upon them. Valentine.

He had a sadistic smirk on his face when he saw her but also looked taken off guard. Like he had expected her to be there. "My child. And the child of my betrayer's." He said looking down at the pair. Arya his her hand behind her back in fear that Valentine would see the ring.

"My Family we're right to betray you." She seethed.

"So are you gonna join Jeremy? He's going big game hunting. We just got intel on the wolf that killed Jeremy's father. We're gonna bring the beast back to the boat." He grinned looking down at Jace who shook his head. "Okay, then how about you stay here with me, and you can help me end the Legacy line for good." He spoke, grabbing a tight grip on Arya's arm while she tried to pull her arm from his grip.

Jace looked between his sadistic father and his brother's girlfriend, his best friend and his sister parabatai with a worried look that he was trying not to show. "I'll help you end the Legacy line." He nodded, grabbing a hold
of the girls other arm and dragging her into a room inside the boat. What had Valentine done to Jace?

✧

Alec lay on his bed with his knee bouncing up and down with anxiety. Jocelyn sat herself down beside him and held out the stone that Luke had given her.

Isabel stopped her from handing it to Alec for a moment. If Luke's had the stone all along, why didn't he say anything when Jace first went missing?

The woman hesitated and looked between the pair of siblings. The rock in her hand seemed to weigh more the longer she thought about the effects that it could bring. "I'll be honest. There are some serious risks involved." She admitted gently placing it down on Alec's oak bedside table.

Unlike Alec, Isabel was incredibly disturbed by the idea of Alec putting himself in serious danger. "What kind of risks?" She asked pointedly.

The woman sighed before she began to explain. "The parabatai that initiates the contact... it can be taxing on his body, on his mind." She was expecting the reaction that the two gave.

As soon as he saw his sister's apprehensive look in his direction he attempted to relax the situation. "Izzy, it's fine." He insisted, but Izzy knew better than to believe him.

She ignored his attempt at making her feel better and kept her eyes on Jocelyn instead. "I'm not liking the sound of this. Taxing how?" She asked. Jocelyn stood up and Izzy followed.

She sighed and stopped her pacing. "We're not sure. Of the few people who have tried it, not many have come back to talk about it." She reluctantly told them. Alec closed his eyes knowing that Izzy wouldn't allow him to do it now she knew that. But it wasn't just his parabatai he was trying to get back it was hers too.

"Forget it. He's not doing it." Isabel spoke firmly. She had already lost her brother and her sister. She wasn't about to lose another one.

Alec ignored all warnings signed and insisted nonetheless. "Don't listen to her." He argued, sitting up from where he was lay.

She shook her head firmly. "No, Alec. I've already lost both parents to Idris, a brother to Valentine and now a sister to god knows where. I'm not gonna lose you, too." She argued.

"Izzy, you said it yourself. We have no choice."

She threw her hands in the air when she realised he was relentless. "That was before I knew you can die. No. Get up!" She shouted at him but faltered when she saw the worry behind his dark eyes.

"They need me, Iz. And I can't... I can't live without them." He stressed meaningfully.

Isabel reluctantly gave in after that and sat down on one of the two chairs beside her brother's bed with Jocelyn in the one beside him. She had regained the stone and was holding it like it was brittle in her hands delicately.

"According to Luke, you need to stay near the surface. If you go too deep, nothing can bring you back." She explained and Alec nodded. Izzy was worried however because she knew that Alec would risk anything for the pair who were missing.

"If you go too deep, by the Angel, Alec, I will kick your ass when you get back."

Alec ignored her once again and held out his hand. "Give me the stone." He spoke to the redhead mother beside him.

Alec took the stone as gently as she was holding it then took it in one hand and held it tightly. Behind his eyelids, he could see flashes of him and Jace when they were actually in the same place, in the institute being kids and going on missions. He only wished that was how it was now too.

Arya had been dragged back out from the inside of the bleat where she was sure the two Morgenstern men were going to kill her, despite hating the idea that Jace could be one of them. She watched painfully as they dragged a girl

with silver hair and braids onto the boat. She looked young, seventeen at most.

Valentine held his hands up happily when she arrived and was forced onto her knees as soon as she stepped onto the boat. "Ah, there you are! There's only one last thing for you to do." He exclaimed. "Kill her" He spoke almost immediately. Not a single hint nor trace of hesitance behind his words.

The girl struggled and desperately cried out. "No! Please!" Arya tugged against the men who were holding her arms in a desperate attempt to help her.

"She's our prisoner. She can't hurt anybody here." Jace tried to condemn his father.

"If only she had shown her victims as much mercy." The man scoffed carelessly.

One of Valentine's men held an especially tight hold on
her. Arya assumed that it was Jeremy and he was so angry because he believed that this was the wolf that killed his father. "After what she did, we're letting her off easy." He justified bitterly.

"What are you talking about? I've done nothing wrong." The young wolf continued to resist.

"Five years ago, my father was mauled to death by a white wolf." He growled down at her, resembling the creature she was more than she did herself. She remained silent once he had spoken.

Arya could barely see the Jace she once knew when he walked up to the girl in the same way his father would have and looked down at her mercilessly. "That was you. You did that, didn't you? You murdered him, an innocent mundane." He accused her, pulling a knife from his waistband and holding it against her throat.

She shook her head frantically. "No, I've never killed anyone. I swear. I'm telling the truth." She cried, literally pleading for her life.

"Don't lie to me," Jace growled.

"Please don't kill me. I've obeyed the Accords. I'm part of Luke's pack." She continued to stress. A tear almost slipped from Arya's eye as she watched her brother be so ruthless. "We don't hurt anyone. We're not like that," she added.

Valentines scoffed and rolled his eyes at her. "A wolf will say anything to go free, but she can never change what she is. You let her live, son, and she will kill again and again and again." He told the blonde boy, patting his hand on his shoulder in a fatherly gesture.

"Jace!" Arya called out to stop him. He looked at her in a flash and she could finally see the guilt behind his eyes.

"Arya, how nice of you to input. Perhaps we should put the wolf aside and deal with you once and for all." He suggested, turning to walk in the girl's direction.

"Yeah, you keep saying that but you never do." She spoke angrily, glaring at him bitterly. "But you should stop underestimating me." She added, kicking her foot back to it hit one of his guards in the knee, causing him to jolt to the side enough for her to tear her arm from his grip and then she swung to the other one used the hand he was holding her arm with and twisted it around so he was on the floor too. "Jace run!" She called out and the pair took off in the same direction.

"Jonathan!" Valentine shouted for his son once he realised that he had finally been undermined. "Jonathan! There's no way out." He shouted as more men flooded the deck. But Jace was too preoccupied with the flashes of Alec that were starting to invade his vision that it made it almost impossible for him to care. "Jonathan!" He tried once again.

The men swarmed them, Jace used his seraph blade to fight them off and Arya caught most of them away with her hands and feet. The shots of Alec didn't stop appearing in Jace's mind and it was physically affecting him.

✧

Izzy looked over at Jocelyn wearily while Alec's eyes remained clamped closed, images of Jace and Arya fighting on the deck of the boat came flooding into his mind and while he was relieved to see they were alive he was also terrified that they might have a slip-up. He almost felt guilty knowing that this must have been affecting Jace just as much as it was him But he watched as Between the pair of them, Arya and Jace managed to fight off the wave of men and they began to run again. His bison was then taken by an image of Jace and Alec when they were young. Blood started to drip from Alec's nose and Izzy wished that he stopped in time.

✧

As they were running Arya watched as Jace slowed down slightly and his body was wracked with a coughing fit. "Jace, are you okay?" She asked worried, grabbing a hold of his arm and wearily looking behind them to see anyone approaching them and she did.

"Jonathan!" Valentine was shouting as he proceeded to follow after the pair who had no intention of giving in. Here when blood was dripping from Jace's nose. "Jonathan! Come back here! There's nowhere to run!" He spoke unknowingly. Because Arya had a way out. She always had.

"Jace, we have to go now! Jace!" She grabbed his hand and used the ring on her pinky to teleport them
off the ship and onto dry land. They had done it.

✧

Alec began to seize where he was lying on the bed and Isabel was frantically looking at Jocelyn for any kind of help but she was looking just as worried as him. "Alec!" Isabel cried out when the stone dropped from his hands with no sign of Alec waking up. They had done it, but at what expense?
