"The whole what?" Creeped out of my dry mouth, tongue feeling thick and heavy. "What happened."
"You don't know?" Mild mannered Cassie reeled back, her eyes widening beneath her thick glasses. Her knitting had been set down for this occasion.
"Erm, well it's not really my place to tell you." Lavender said slowly before returning to her louder persona. "Wouldn't want to be known as the gossip, you know." She slunk backwards, sliding out of the compartment in an awful hurry. "See you dolls later!"
I kept quiet, not wanting to disturb the already razzed up Cassie. Although one repetitive thought circled through my mind just like the wheels of the train sped across the tracks.
"What did my mother do?"
