Ava woke up with a pounding headache the minute she opened her eyes. She regretted taking too much alcohol the night before. The night was vague in her mind after she started dancing in the crowd. The one thing she remembered clearly was her seeing Nic again.

She had of course thought about seeing him again. Their parents still lived in Houston and came around each other's houses often. At holidays Ava would be invited to have dinner with the Chavez household and her own. She never went to the dinners, Ava always made up excuses so she wouldn't have to go and face Nicholas.

But she wouldn't have thought that she would see him again in some club. She wondered what he was doing in London.

Ava turned around on her side and grabbed her phone from the nightstand. When she opened her phone, many texts were send in their group chat. Ava scrolled up a couple of times and stumbled up on an article.

"Nicholas Chavez who is planned to star in Ryan Murphy's 'monsters' was spotted at a club in London, fighting with a woman." Ava spoke out loud.

Who would even take the time to write something like that? Ava didn't have a clue on why a gossip article would write about two people fighting in a club. But how do they know his name?

Ava scrolled away from the article and went to google. She typed in his name and his wikipedia popped up.

"Started his career in 2021 for general hospital, then starred in Crushed and is filming for 'Monsters' lyle and Erik Menendez story set to air in 2024 this year." Ava read to herself.

He made his dream come true. Nic was following his dreams of becoming an actor. How did her parents not mention this to her?

She opened the group chat one again, reading the texts her friends had sent. They were going on about him being my old friend and that I was in an article.

Ava send a quick text to the group about the article. It didn't really mean anything to her to be honest. But her heart ached at seeing the picture of them fighting in the club. Her younger self would be disappointed at them fighting like that, and what would her parents think?

Ava removed the thought from her mind and got out of her bed. She walked to the bathroom and immediately turned on the shower. Ava thought about going to a cafe and reading there for a while. She didn't have a lot of time in the weekends to read, this was the first time she had nothing to do.

After 10 minutes of showering, Ava grabbed a towel and got out of it. She quickly brushed her teeth and walked into the bedroom. Ava opened her closet and picked a wool sweater and some black loose jeans. She put her hair in a sleek bun and put a little makeup on.

She grabbed her coat and bag and walked out the door. There was a coffee place 5 minutes from her house, so she walked.

When Ava sat down she ordered a latte and grabbed her book to read. She started reading a little life, she knew it was one of the saddest books to read, but she loved the authors writing style.

"Thank you, have a nice day!" A familiar voice thanked the barista for giving his coffee.

Ava's head shot up and the voice she remembered. It belonged to the man she fought with last night. His brown hair was messy on top of his head. He wore a simple navy shirt and jeans, his old All Stars topping off his outfit. A little stubble on his chin and a tired look plastered on his face.

He must've noticed Ava staring at him, because he turned around to face her. Was he walking over to her? Ava put her book down on the table and took a quick sip of her coffee.

"Hughes." He greeted the girl that sat in front of him.

"Chavez." She greeted back.

"Did you see th-." Ava cut him off with a nod. Of course she had seen it, everyone had seen it.

"So you know, my parents got mad at me for yelling at you when they saw the article." He explained trying to light up the mood.

In the meanwhile Ava's parent's had called texted her about it as well. They were disappointed in both of us.

"Mine too."

"Your parents invited me for thanksgiving this year, but at their beach house in England. That's why I'm here if you were wondering." Their conversation got more awkward by the second.

"They told me you weren't coming." Ava told him.

"They always invite us for thanksgiving, didn't they mention me coming as well?" He asked.

"No, they told me you were busy working or something." She told him.

"I am, but I had a week off and I could join last minute. They told me you wouldn't go if I was there, but you are."

Ava sighed at his explanation, she couldn't just cancel on her parents now. They probably did this on purpose, just to get the two together again.

"We'll both go and act normal around each other, for our parents sake." Ava proposes.

"Fine."

"See you then." Ava tried to dismiss him. She didn't want to bother talking to him anymore.

Nicholas turned around and walked to the exit with his coffee in hand.

A deep sigh left Ava's lungs. How was she gonna survive thanksgiving with him?

WHAT DOES LOVE FEEL LIKE? Ava Hughes has only felt it one time in her life. When she was 14 and on the beach with her best friend. Nic and Ava stayed there to watch the sunset together. He had his guitar with him, playing the melody of an Arctic Monkeys song because he knew she loved their music.

"The look of love, the rush of blood. The 'she's with me' the gallic shrug." She softly hummed along the melody.

Nicholas looked at her with admiration, her British accent slipping through the lyrics sometimes, but he loved it.

They both know they would never be honest about their true feelings. Maybe that was one of the reasons their friendship changed. Ava wanted to distract her feelings and started focusing in school more. Nic joined the football team to forget about his feelings for Ava.

Ava would think back about those moments of them together singing or talking. She would lean against his shoulder and close her eyes. Ava was hurt the first night they met again and he was yelling at her. It was understandable though, he had something to drink and she did hurt him, but in a club wasn't the best idea.

She just hoped that he wouldn't pull that stunt at thanksgiving giving. How on earth was she gonna survive three days with him? It was not only thanksgiving but a short holiday at their beach house.

Ava had one week to prepare herself what's to come.

I'm sick and writing lots of chapters now, so I will be posting much more soon!

The start is always the hardest to write, because I have to get into the story, but it's getting easier from now on.

Thanks for reading!
