He didn't have beach close by his home when he was younger, so he would go to the lake right before sunset or when it was raining in the afternoon. When he moved to LA for his career he lost that feeling of going there for peace. This was the first time in a while that Nicholas had peace.

His parent's and Ava's walked a couple of meters from him. He wanted walk by himself for a moment. Ava was right before him but they didn't speak. She knew from when they were younger that he loved moments like these.

"I have a place where you can find more peace, I can show you." Ava turned around to face him.

"Somewhere on the beach?" He asked.

"You see that mountain there? It's a my comfort place to go, and I think you need that." She had pointed to the mountain. It reminded him a little bit of the Scottish highlands even though they we're nowhere close to Scotland.

"Can we go there?" He questioned.

"of course we can!" A little smile grew on her lips. Ava gave him a little pat, to let him know he could follow her.

She started picking up the pace and started running towards that small mountain, Nicholas following behind her at the same pace. They went up the stairs and were on the top a couple minutes later. When she looked over she saw her parent's already waving at them. They knew where it was and that she loved that place.

Ava sat down at the edge and ushered Nicholas to sit next to her. He sat down and admired the beautiful view. It the distance there were some dark clouds but it was going to rain later.

"It's beautiful here." He whispered.

"I told you." Ava's smile never left her face since she ran over to the mountain with Nicholas.

After a few minutes, Nicholas pulled out a book out of his jacket. The holy bible. Ava wasn't religious but she knew that Nicholas finds his peace in reading it. At the lake when they were younger, he would bring it and read some verses to her, while she leaned her head on his shoulder.

He opened the book and started reading where he left off. Ava looked over the words where his finger traced the letters. He whispered the words softly, not wanting to read out loud.

It wasn't the same as they were younger, but it felt like the Nicholas from when they were 10 or 14. Ava wondered if that obstacle between them would be resolved one day, and if it would all be okay between them.

She closed her eyes, focusing on the loud crashes of the waves and the wind blowing against her face. The soft whispers of Nicholas on the background and the sound of paper waving in the wind.

Nicholas stopped reading as he noticed Ava was quiet for a while. Her eyes were closed but he still thought she was beautiful. The wind softly blowing through her brunette hair and the red cheeks she had gotten from the cold temperature outside. He noticed these little details about her. In the summer she would get these freckles on her face and light highlights in her hair from the sun. In autumn and winter she would have rosy cheeks from being outside a lot, and in spring the color on her cheeks would return.

"You know what I kept after we fought a couple years back?" He asked her the question to break the silence.

She opened her eyes and looked at him.

"Tell me."

Nicholas opened his book again and grabbed his bookmark. It was a necklace with a cross, he had given her that on her 14th birthday. He had given her the necklace for protection and peace. It meant a lot to Nicholas for him to have one and wished Ava nothing but the best.

Ava held the necklace at the cross admiring it. It was gold and some little diamonds in it. She loved that thing the minute she got it and it hurt to take off. She gave it back the day of the bad fight, she felt like it was filled with his lies. After thinking about it months later, she knew she was wrong.

"I couldn't throw it away." Nicholas explained.

"I'm glad you didn't throw it away."

"Can we be honest for a moment." He asked seriously. He turned to her and took her attention away from the necklace.

"I honestly miss you Ava, I miss our friendship and everything we did together, but I don't miss our fight about every little thing. We're not in high school anymore and we missed 7 years of friendship over these little things. I know that I pressured you in not giving our friendship enough attention, but it didn't just come from me." Ava was a little taken back by what he had just said.

"I miss you too and I know that I forgot about our friendship a lot. I put everything in front of our friendship and basically ghosted you. Then that fight at graduation which everyone witnessed and then me giving that necklace back. I feel so bad honestly for doing all that." Ava spoke truthfully.

"I want our friendship back, but only if we fix on those little problems. In friendships you have to make sacrifices for each other and be there on big moments." Nicholas explained.

"I think we can work on that right?" A grin appeared on Ava's face.

"Definitely."

Nicholas grabbed the necklace and put it around Ava's neck. It was back where it belonged. They both turned around to face the view again. Ava put her head on his shoulder.

Just like old times.

"It's not something freaky, right?" He gives her a icky look. She rolled her eyes at his comment.

"Of course not, but you still can't know what I'm watching." She gave him a wide smile.

"Okay, first that's creepy when you smile like that, second I'm gonna find out anyway." Before she could respond, Nicholas grabbed her laptop and ran to the other side of the room.

He opened the laptop and surprisingly saw himself. It was him on his first acting gig in general hospital. He turned around with a smirk.

"Are you embarrassed by watching me in a series?" He questioned her.

"I was wondering what the show was about, but it's also kind of cringey."

"Wait until you see my next project." He promises her.

"And what's that?" Ava asked. Nicholas walked back to the bed and placed her laptop back. He sat down next to her.

"You know the Menendez brothers?" He asked. She gave him an obvious look. Almost everyone knew who they are and what they did.

"Well, I'm playing Lyle in this series on Netflix about them, you know Ryan Murphy? He is producing it."

"That man that should have never released that Dahmer series? I don't like that guy. But I'm happy for you that you got a big role." Ava flashed him a smile of support.

"When do you start filming?" She questioned.

"We already started, we're just wrapping up the last episodes when they're in prison." Nicholas answered.

"You should have seen me in that outfit with the fake botox and long hair, it's terrible but so funny. To be honest my co-star still looked good with all that on." Nicholas grabbed his phone and showed Ava a picture of him and his co-star Cooper in their ridiculous costumes.

"To be fair you're right, but you both still look good in those weird outfits." Ava chuckled at the photo.

Nicholas put his phone away. "We start filming in a couple of days. When I go back to London tomorrow, I have to catch a flight at night back to LA." He told her his plans.

"I'm excited for you." Ava looked at Nicholas with admiration, she really was proud of him.

"How is your book getting along?" He changed the subject quickly, so there wouldn't be a silence.

"Terrible, I haven't even written a chapter. It's a romance novel but I only wrote about the weather." Ava sighed and put her head in her hands.

"Maybe it's not going like you want it, because you never felt real love." Nicholas questioned, his right eyebrow was raised.

Ava thought about that for a second. Of course she had been with some guys in London, but it didn't last for long. The one guy she really liked was Nicholas when she was younger, but she was never gonna admit that to him. She knew he didn't date around with people, her mother would hear his mother say that Nicholas still didn't have a girlfriend. It wouldn't bother Ava if he did.

"I sort of felt it, but I didn't have that spectacular love like everyone talks about. I should consider writing in another genre."

"No, what if I go on a date with you and show you how it's done? Then you'll probably get some inspiration for your novel." Nicholas was enthusiastic about his plan.

"I don't know."

"I won't take no for an answer."

I need to clarify sometimes in this chapter so no one get's confused.

- I know Cooper doesn't use social media, but I wanted to include him into my story.
- i don't know if Nicholas is really religious, on his instagram he did show a book about religion and prayer and he does wear a cross, but I found it a nice gesture and meaning in my story with the necklace. (Please don't come at me)
- I have been sick for three days, so excuse if my grammar or writing isn't correct.

I hope you did enjoy this chapter! I just can't wait for them to get closer, but that has to wait for a couple of parts.

Thanks for reading!!
