But I could not move.
Rick looked me in the eye, as did I, and I watched as his lips began to move, mouthing my name but there was nothing escaping his lips. I could not hear him. But he looked so sad, he looked as if he were screaming. He shook me, and all I wanted to do was scream at him in confusion. I'm here. Baby, I'm here. Why are you crying? I watched as he picked me up in his arms and cradled me on the carpeted floor of our living room.
I felt so sleepy being in his arms. It reminded me so much of when I was pregnant with Beth.
Maybe if I take a nap, I'll wake up and this'll all be a dream. I couldn't shake off the sleepy feeling anyway, I couldn't fight it. I let myself sleep.
I gasped, stepping back before looking into Rick's starry eyes, blurred with fog. I smiled through the tears. "Oh Rick..." He smiled back at me, opening his lanky arms wide. "Baby." I leapt into his arms, only to be met with that familiar warmth I had experienced in another life.
