"On the balcony. We kissed." I elaborate, barely getting the words out now that I am truly getting a chance to process everything. I begin to walk over to Jess, joining her on the couch. She turns to me, crossing her legs under each other and staring with wide eyes. 

"And how was it?" she enquires.

"It was good. Really good." I tell her, unable to string more words together to capture how it felt.

"Damn, now I wish I didn't call out for you. I totally interrupted you guys, didn't I? I so did. Who knows what would've happened if I didn't?" she rambles on with excitement like she is witnessing her favourite characters in a show getting together or something.

"So, what now?" she asks. 

"I have no idea," I answer honestly, "He said he'll see me around."

"And do you want to?"

"I don't know. What does it even mean exactly?" I respond, completely uncertain on that too.

"Well, aren't you full of answers tonight," she teases, taking her tea off of the side table and taking a sip from it like she was just listening to the latest gossip with the ladies at the tennis club, "See how great birthdays can be if you embrace them? Kissing Theo on the balcony level good."

I slap her arm lightly, not wanting to make her spill her tea, thinking over everything.

This would certainly be a birthday to remember.
