Years ago, the Black Plague wasn't humanity's end, it was their rising point. This alien virus brought superpowers instead of death, reforming Earth into a world where Para-Protectors defend the planet and making kids dream of joining their ranks.

Fast forward to summer, where the 15 year olds Ray, a Photo/Umbra-kinetic kleptomaniac, Alex Tavish, a literal loud mouth, Ronald a walking nuclear meltdown, and Casper, an aquatic horror, find themselves at Black-Hill Hero Institution.

Now, the group must survive not only wild and often dangerous adventures, but also their own dysfunctional dynamic.
