The upfront expenditures are sizable, from purchasing and installing the actual charge points to network integration and maintenance over many years. It's a long-term investment that requires public commitment to see a full return. Many consider it vital transportation infrastructure on par with roads, public transit and sidewalks. With environmental and community livability goals in mind, advocates argue funding should be available as part of transportation electrification and sustainability plans.
