At twenty one years old, Chai [shy] Bennett has found herself trapped in a toxic and abusive relationship. She's loved her boyfriend ever since she was sixteen and he's the only one who makes her feel safe on the cold streets of Chicago, Illinois. Chai's life is bitter sweet and it gets even more sour when she gets a call from her older sister about their dying mother.

Although Chai never had a close relationship with her mom, she can't help but feel sympathetic and travels to the next town over to be with her for a couple of days. Within her visit she meets Saint Campbell, a former gangbanger who is spending the remaining time of his young adult life trying to find his true purpose.

Saint's cruel past and rough present inspires Chai to be a better person and makes her realize that life is too short to be living in fear. She joins him on a journey to find a purpose but of course there's a few bumps along the way.
