Asher Montgomery is the daughter of two legacies. Lilith Penrose, her mother, could conjure up the most powerful runes with her skillful calligraphy. Asher's father, Mason Montgomery, was the best warrior in Idris and possibly his entire generation. Both came from large and powerful families that were important to the Clave.

Asher inherited the fortune, the fame, and the genetics. Top in her class, she traveled the world for her successful, classified, and difficult missions that earned her the recognition she deserved. But just as successful she had become, Asher's drive came from a devastating loss.

She soon became reckless in her missions, leading the director of the Los Angeles Institute to send her to New York on a mission in favor for Maryse Lightwood. This puts her smack dab in the middle of a situation she never wanted to be a part of in the first place.

Things couldn't get any worse going on a wild goose chase around New York to save a mother of a certain redhead named Clary Fray. Amidst all this happening, Asher meets someone who tries to open up her heart, to get her to become that innocent wide-eyed person she used to be. But that person died a long time ago.

Or so she thought.
