Then things slowly became worse, the world fell into chaos, and there was nobody there to stop the rise of the greedy and evil.One hundred years.That's how long benders have been in hiding. Without the Avatar, the world became imbalanced and non-benders took the chance to oppress benders and forced them to hide themselves from the world and history itself. The non-benders who trusted in and allied themselves with benders tried to speak out, but with new world governments in power it was all for naught.Those who spoke were eventually silenced with threats or otherwise. It was a time were definition was a dystopia for everyone. Now finding himself alone in the harsh reality of 1932, he takes to the streets, doing all he can to survive while trying to make sense of the world around him. Through his strife he struggles to survive, becoming hardened to cope with his cold existence. He improvises, adapts, and overcomes.While this isn't based on a true story, the events within the story are as true to realism as I can manage while still presenting an interesting tale. I did my utmost to encapsulate just how bad the Great Depression was. With it being a short story, a lot of possible in-depth views on the subject weren't possible.
