The apocalypse started six years ago, fifteen-year-old Hugo Lance and his seven-year-old stepbrother Shane Olson, have been on their own for two years since their community, Oakland (an old high school) was taken over by The dead. their mother, Avery Olson, a twenty-year-old at the time died in the final stand, making her brother go mad and branch out and create his own ruthless group, Ven-Cross.
