The Girl Who Rang the Doorbell
When a stranger rings your doorbell, do you usually open it? In this short story, we follow the narrator, a relatively egocentric and very much spoiled young man, who doesn't want to open the door to a woman who appears to be doing door to door sales. About one hour after she rang the bell, he decides to check the door again, and is surprised to see that the girl is still there, immersed in the silence of an empty corridor. He asks himself if she has been standing there all this time, and starts wondering: Is it best to ignore her again, or just open the door for once?
