Not a Cliche! I promise! is a short story where I make fun of cliches just a little, and give them a little twist. Set in the not so distant future, where the zombie apocalypse changed the world (as usual), a girl is traveling through states in search of friends and close ones. One day she's chased by the infected and seen as a damsel in distress by another - hero interrupts only to need saving himself.Here's a lil sneak peak:'Pop, pop, pop - three fell, only for another three to take their place, getting closer and being much faster than the classical infected. New Borns! She thought and gritted her teeth, strained herself to reach for the bat - even managed to grasp it, but she couldn't move from the spot. Not a muscle in her body listened as the head-splitting pain echoed through her brain. Iron-like taste of blood filled her mouth when she bit down hard on her lower lip as she watched the man being tackled to the ground by the two, while the third fell due to another pop. He struggled as they held down his hands. The infected on his left then raised his hand, in which he held the gun and smashed it against the cold floor - once, twice, thrice until he let go of the small black firearm.She blinked, and in that split second, a scream echoed throughout the street as the infected bite down hard onto his arms. She took a step back and looked down only to realize she can move once more, while the would-be hero is slowly becoming diner to the infected. Sore throat, the loud thudding of the heart - she wanted to run, flight instead of a fight as her hands shook lightly, while she grasped the bat more tightly. She shook her head before taking the first steps, which turned into running as she rushed towards the infected on his right.
