In 1936 Chicago, Emil Granger, a cunning serial killer known as "The Butcher of Chicago," evades capture by framing a homeless man, Malcolm Reddick. Emil, who has committed a series of gruesome murders, orchestrates a plan to escape to Kansas by using Reddick, who bears a striking resemblance to him. Emil convinces Reddick to board a train bound for Kansas City with the promise of a fresh start. As Reddick is arrested upon arrival and mistaken for Emil, Chicago detective Frank Nash, hot on Emil's trail, believes he has caught the elusive killer. Emil, meanwhile, disappears into the city's shadows, leaving Reddick to face the consequences of crimes he did not commit.…
