Malcolm and Michael are half-brothers born and raised in North Philadelphia to a blue-collar, black father named Andre. The relationship between Andre and his sons breaks when Andre is sentenced to jail for raping a white high school student, a charge he denies. To add to the family tension, Malcolm's mother is black, while Andre's current wife and Michael's mother is white.Malcolm becomes trapped by the neighborhood streets. He drops out of high school and joins a gang as a low level drug dealer. He feels he is a product of his environment. Society has dealt him a losing hand.By contrast, Michael graduates from high school, attends community college, and works his way through Temple Law School. He manages to elevate himself beyond his circumstances and takes a job in the District Attorney’s office. Though on opposite sides of the law, and despite the fact that Malcolm harbors resentment toward his half-brother for lighter skin, the two bond when they learn the other is training for the same Jiu-Jitsu tournament. They become wrestling partners and rekindle their childhood friendship. They have another common thread--both are single parents with five-year-old daughters.One day, Michael meets Cheyenne, a beautiful Native American transplant from Arizona. She is a personal trainer and manager at a gym. He instantly falls in love with her. Michael finally sees someone who he can spend the rest of his life with. With his faith in humanity and God restored, he feels his life has been uplifted because of his new found love.However, Cheyenne has a hidden past that she is too ashamed to admit. Malcolm discovers that she has a chronic drug problem. She opens her heart to Malcolm and he seeks help for her. The jealousy Michael feels seeing her with Malcolm is unbearable. Instead of fighting in the ring, the brothers do battle in the gritty streets of Philadelphia.Will their feeling of deep affection for the same girl jeopardize their brotherly love?…
