Three Years Later:

Sophie

I walked towards the cafe I work for a few hours after class. I was too tired to work today. It's getting harder every day to even get out of bed.

I have no energy. My days are crazy. I can't sleep at night, yet I want nothing to do but sleep during the day. My budget scares me. I don't even know how I am doing this? Dad keeps sending me money, though I refuse to touch it unless I have no other option.

I dropped most of my classes for now. I can't focus- it's as if my mind gets clouded. I feel like a damn airhead. I had to go see a doctor, and she gave me so many vitamins because she says I am underweight and need to nourish my body. The vitamins taste so gross. I especially hate the iron pills.

But if I don't take them, I will never get rid of my anemia. It will be bad for me if that happens.

"Hey, darling. You look so gorgeous today. Look at you glowing like the diva you are!" Mrs. Clark says as I walk inside. She's an elder lady that owns the coffee house I work in.

Her husband passed away years ago, leaving her the coffee house. She has one son that works as a producer in a theater near Hollywood. He's super nice and helps me out a lot, he's very good-looking too. He modeled for a few years when he was still in high school. She also has a daughter who attends college with me. She loves to travel though, so she took off this semester to travel around Tokyo.

"Hi, Mrs. Clark. Sorry, I'm late. I got stuck after class. I don't know what's happening to me. It's like my mind can't concentrate. I feel so lost most of the time. College classes are not like high school, they are so much harder."

"Sweetheart, you are doing just fine. You have your hands full. Where's Nathan today? I thought you'd come with him?" Nathan is the love of my life. He's got the most beautiful green-hazel eyes, with curly light brown hair and deep dimples.

He makes me smile and forget all my worries when I'm with him.

"No. Not today. He distracts me too much. I can't help but glance over where he is every other minute and smack my lips on him every chance I get." She giggles at my expression. She knows I adore him. He's my world after all.

"You are so cute, honey. Now, I need to go to the bank and make the weekly deposit for the coffee shop. Do you think you and Miley can handle the shop while I get back?" She asks as I take my apron and tie it around my waist.

"You go on and do your thing, Mrs. Clark. Miley and I will handle things here until you get back."

"Thanks, sweetheart. I know you can handle it. Miley?" She calls our youngest member over, making her rush towards us.

"Yes, ma'am." She says as she stands before us with a cleaning cloth in her hand.

"Sweety, I need to go out for a bit. Listen to Sophie, and don't leave without your parents picking you up. Ok?" Mrs. Clark is very protective. Her mother's instincts get the best of her at times.

She always has to be sure that Miley has a ride from her parents or older sister. She's only sixteen, after all, so Mrs. Clark wants to make sure she gets home safe.

"Ok, ma'am. I'll call my sister and let her know I get out in two hours."

"Good girl. I'll be back sweetheart." She says looking between Miley and me.

She grabs her purse, the bag for the bank, and her keys.

It doesn't take long for the coffee house to start filling with people. It always gets crazy packed in here in the evenings with students coming to study.

At around two hours and fifteen minutes later, Miley's sister finally comes by to pick her up. I am now left on my own to deal with all the customers. I run from one place to the other making iced drinks, blended coffee, and hot beverages for them.

"Espresso with a double shot to go," I call out. A young girl stands and grabs it leaving a hefty tip on the jar.

"Thank you." She says, grabbing it and smiling my way.

"You're welcome, and enjoy," I say smiling back.

I continue making more coffees until it's time to close. Mrs. Clark finally returns. She has a huge smile on her face as she comes in next to her son, Skylar.

"Hi, sweety. Sorry, it took so long. Skylar picked me up from the bank and invited me for dinner. I finally got to meet his girlfriend. She is so pretty." She says making Skylar blush.

"I knew you two would hit it off. I told you she was gorgeous, mom." He says giving her a squeezed hug.

"Hi, Sophie." He says looking at me. "Hey, guys. No worries, I'm just about done. I got most of the cleaning done. I just need to mop, and close down so I can count the money."

"Oh, sweety. It's fine, get home. I'm sure you are eager to spend time with Nathan. Skylar and I will close down. Go get some rest sweety." She says making me sigh with relief.

"Are you sure? I can do it. I'm sure Nate will not mind."

"No, no, we got this. Now get on out of here and get some rest. We'll see you tomorrow honey." She says waving me off.

"Ok. Thank you, Mrs. Clark. I appreciate it. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye Skylar." I say grabbing my phone quickly and putting on my thin cardigan.

I quickly left the coffee house and began to walk home. I lived fairly close, so I usually walk to work so I don't lose my parking space. Los Angeles is so overpacked with people.

I gave up my dorm soon as my first semester of school ended. It was far too expensive. Soon after I got an apartment near the school, and just a few blocks away from the cafe.

I sped-walked towards my place and bumped into someone on my way as I looked down. "Uff. I am so sorry." I said glancing up. My heart raised as I saw Logan in front of me.

He looked lost.

"Logan?" My eyes went wide like saucers. I could feel my heart in my throat trying to escape.

I pushed past him trying to walk away. I felt him grip my wrist and pull me back to face him, making me crush against his chest. He claimed my lips intensely. I forgot everything for a second but soon came back to, pushing him away.

"Leave.Now."

"Do you have any idea how long I've been looking for you? I can't sleep, I can't think. I keep wondering what did I ever do wrong. Why did you suddenly leave me? Why you abandoned me. Not even your parents want to tell me your whereabouts. Why Sophie? What did I do?" His left hand trailed around my waist, his right hand cupping my cheek.

I pulled myself away, giving him a stern look. "I said leave. I don't ever, EVER, want to see you again. You mean nothing to me. You never did. I'm better left without you." It hurt me more to lie to him this way.

Seeing him made things hard. It took me endless nights to forget about him. He meant so much to me. He will always be a big part of my life, but Nathan was my world now.

"Sophie, please."

"I said leave! Go back to New York, and don't ever come back." My voice quivered as my eyes filled with tears. I turned on my heels and walked away.

I needed to leave fast. I can't do this again. I could still feel his warm lips on mine. The sweet taste of his kiss.

I gripped my doorknob and turned it, opening the door and ready to shut my door, but a foot and a strong arm stopped it.

"Logan?" I said stepping back.

"Say it. Say it again and I will leave you alone forever. I'll leave, and get out of your life for good. I don't care about the reasons, I just want to hear it from you again."

He looked more built than he was. He was no longer a young teenage boy, but a man. A hot-looking man.

"Leave Logan," I said taking a step towards him.

Before I knew it, he claimed my lips, pinning me against my door frame. Our tongues interlaced just like when we were teens.

I don't know how it happened, but before long we were naked, our bodies sweating and sleeping soundly on my couch.

I woke up around midnight to the doorbell ringing. Logan was nowhere to be found. His clothes were gone and only a note was left behind.

Then a knocking made me run and grab my robe, placing it on and running to open the door. "Nathan." I kissed him with a smile on my face.

I hugged him tightly and thanked heavens Logan was not here to see him. I didn't want Logan to find out about Nathan. He'll, I don't want Logan around ever again. The wounds of his betrayal are still too fresh in my heart.

He still holds so much power over me. A power I want to take back and give it all to Nathan.

I walked towards the note and went to the bathroom to read it.

"I will respect your wish. I'm leaving. But, I want you to know that I will always love you. No matter what, I will always love you."

I must of read it a few too many times before wanting to rip it apart. I opened the door slowly and walked towards my closet. I grabbed the small box on top of my closet and walked towards the bed.

I placed the note inside, along with the promise ring Logan had given me and the bracelet. It startled me when the bracelet lit up a few seconds after I glanced towards it.

He must have pressed his bracelet. I felt him wearing it when we were sleeping together just a few hours ago. My body could still feel him. His lingering kisses throughout my body. It's as if he purposely did it to make me never forget about him.

How was I supposed to go on with my life if he ever decided to look for me again? I thought I had left him behind for good. But now, I have no idea what's to come.

What if he finds out about Nathan? Will he fight for me? Or leave me alone for good? Even worse, what will happen to Nathan? I do not want to lose him.
