Steven held the door wide open in an inviting manner, as I stepped in. He already had the cake mix, mixing bowls, ingredients and other materials needed for the cake. He chewed his lip eagerly and bounced up and down like a malfunctioning, robotic ball. " This is going to be so much fun!", he gushed, showing a big, delightful grin that went from one ear to the other. "I never get to do this with the others." I slid into the chair opposite the counter, outlining ideal drawing with the tip of my fingers on the table. "Why not?", I asked, peering down at the stand."Garnet is always busy. Pearl thinks its a waste of time. And Amethyst always eats the mix before we have time to bake it", Steven snorted, turning around to the counter in scepticism. Just as he predicted, Amethyst was hovering over the box of cake mix, that was now wide open. She had a spoon full of the mix fluttering just above her mouth but abruptly paused when Steven turned to face her. She sheepishly grinned at Steven, who bitterly scowled back. She glanced at the spoon, glimpsed back at Steven, before leisurely pouring the mix back into the box, and discreetly closing the flaps. Steven rolled his eyes, before converging back on me. "We should probably start now before Amethyst ruins the fun for us", he shook his head, sort of grinning.
"Steven! It specifically states at the back of the box to use only 10 blocks of chocolate", I huffed, crossing my arms, clutching the box of the table and wavering it inches away from Steven's face so he can see for himself. Steven seized the box out of my grasps and laid it on the counter opposite to me. " Just because the box says to do it, doesn't mean we have to", he exclaimed, shifting the box further away. "Think of it as; a suggestion". I faceplanted, muttering words I was not proud of. "Suggesti--? Steven! The recipe isn't written so you can ignore it and do your own thing", I endeavoured to reason with him. Steven, however, just like the recipe, scorned me and deposited 3 bars worth of chocolate in the mix, before mixing it together. "Idiot", I modestly murmured under my wearied breath. Steven shifted to glance at me, with an exasperated aspect. " I thought you were done with being mean", he tilted one eyebrow. I crossed my arms and scoffed. "I am!", I distastefully mocked.
"I said...", I hesitated, as my scoff converted into an uptight expression. "... I...Incredible...thinking! More chocolate means more flavour to the cake. You're so smart, Steven", I prattled, fluttering my eyelashes, charmingly. Steven's unconvincing expression made me feel dumber by the second. He crossed his arms, showing an incredulous grin. "Yeah, I am pretty smart", he gloated, playing along with my little charades and dishonesty. I shook my head, puzzled, before lively thwacking Steven's forehead. " Dork!", I utterly snickered, watching Steven's troubled state. Earning a glower from him, Steven skittishly stuck his tongue at to me, as I childishly mimicked him. Which ended with us laughing at our goofy behaviour. Standing there for a moment in silence, I decided to break the silence with a dull, " We should finish the cake before Amethyst comes back and finishes the batter".
This is literally the longest chapter I've ever written!
