come.

Now that she's finally gotten that rare opportunity, she stood, admiring the view and letting the wind blow past her.

She recalled the previous weeks in her head. The interviews, debates, historic rallies that were on par with that of six years ago, maybe even surpassed it. The once-shambled opposition, united under her banner. Who would've thought?

The glass door slid open from behind her. She turned around and saw the love of her life, her wife, her anchor. "Ang lalim na naman ng iniisip mo, misis ko."

"Dalawang araw na lang. The election anxiety is getting to me."

"I know. Mabigat sa pakiramdam kahit alam kong ginawa naman natin lahat."

"If I lose the elections," Risa whispered. "Will I still have you now and always?"

"I'm your wife, Risa. Kasama mo ako, manalo o matalo. Lagi't lagi."

The conflicted look on Risa's face made Leni's heart soften. She remembered being in that situation. Being comforted by Risa even when they were yet to figure out what they were. "Halika nga dito," Leni opened her arms and welcomed her wife in a hug.

Risa immediately fell in her wife's arms, hugging her shoulders and inhaling the scent of her shampoo and perfume. Her anxiety eased little by little and was then replaced with amusement when Leni began to sway them side by side.

"Ano'ng ginagawa mo?" Risa giggled.

"Isasayaw kita. Kalimutan mo muna 'yung mga dumaan at darating na araw at dito ka lang muna sa'kin. Huwag ka munang mag-isip ng kung ano-ano. Ang isipin mo lang, kasama mo ako dito. Tahimik at payapa. Dito lang muna tayo."

The senator nodded, her heart falling at peace because of Leni's words. She intertwined their fingers together, keeping one hand on her wife's shoulders as they swayed together.

"Diba those are also the lyrics of our song?"

"Our song?"

Leni nodded and sang, "Don't you dare look back. Just keep your eyes on me. I said you're holding back, she said shut up and dance with me."

Risa teared up, hugging Leni tighter. "We were bound to get together, like the song said. Weren't we?"

"Of course we were. Gaya rin ng sabi sa kanta, this woman is my destiny. I think loving you is what I'm truly destined to do."

This was it, wasn't it?

Their reason to live.

Amid life's challenges, its cruelty and suffering, at the end of the day they had this. To look forward to, to cherish, to remind them that this is what life has in store for them.

Risa held Leni's face, tilting it upwards and leveling it with hers. She stared deeply into her wife's eyes and she could feel the familiar electricity running through her veins. The butterflies in her stomach never once faltering since the night at the bar years ago when she's so close to her like this.

"Ikinagagalak ko pong ipakilala sa inyo...ang aking asawa at ang susunod na bise-presidente ng Pilipinas, Senator Risa Hontiveros!"

"Have I told you yet?"

"Ang alin?"

"You make me feel alive, Leni."
